    I loved the use of “lockdown” and “pandemic” as rhythm words, will serve as a reminder of the early 2020s

    OMG I am so happy I found your channel! I am learning more from you then I have any other channel! It's actually making sense to me. I actually am a traditional Country/bluegrass/folk singer, play very basic rhythm guitar, and performed semi professionally for over 30 years but I have always been drawn to the ukulele. I had one as a child and picked up a little but it wasn't till a year ago that I picked it up again and started to play basic chords. I have always wanted to learn how to embellish songs a bit but always found it too complicated. When I stumbled onto your channel your style of teaching is clicking for me and I am starting to get it. I know it will take a lot of practice but I am actually excited to learn. I thank you for sharing your talents! I do have a request if you ever have the time and I understand if you don't but I happen to sing this song in the key of C. I actually do a medley with Circle Be Unbroken, I saw the Light and This Little Light of Mine. Anything you can suggest on how to embellish it in the key of C would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again!! Oh and I also bought a banjolele so excited for more songs from you on that... LOL

    I have had one of these Banjo Uke's. I got it in Zanesville, Ohio about the year 1985 or 1986. The fretboard is all metal. The brand name is "Dixie." It didn't have a back to the drumhead so I made one. I also made a case for it. It has always been hard to keep tuned therefore I haven't played it much. You simplified the chord melody and your rendition of this song is very good. Thank you.

    Your strumming comments are super helpful. Excellent tip to listen to the rhythm, which I think I’m finally getting better at. Muting the strings, which you suggested in an earlier video, seemed to help me quite a bit. As always, your videos are greatly appreciated.

    Gosh darn it Kelly ! Now you are really making me want to get a banjo ukuele. 😂🙂. I think my little apartment is going to be filled with ukuleles! I love this tutorial ! I used to have a nice deering banjo. I sold it to my teacher. Was a win win. I was able to buy my Ohana ukulele that I love. ! Quick question. Is there any reason why you are playing on the fret board. Just curious I love how you are going through the strumming. I never really got it on the banjo. I don’t know why. It just didn’t fit me right. The concert ukulele is just perfect for me !

    • @fourstringstrummer
      @fourstringstrummer  Рік тому +1

      They really are a lot of fun! I find strumming a little further forward gives me the sound I like. I do the same on a standard uke as well.

    I'm looking to buy a bangolele. And wondering what's the best bang for the Buck? What are you playing?

    • @fourstringstrummer
      @fourstringstrummer  2 роки тому

      Hi Kyle - the one I'm playing is this video is an Aklot banjo uke. It was only around $100 with a gig bag etc. Pretty tough to beat that. Its a concert size. I've also owned a Gold Tone which honestly was a better instrument...more money though. If u just want to give it a try the Aklot might be worth checking out on Amazon. If you think you may stay with it a while longer or play more seriously, brands like Gold Tone or Deering may be worth a look.

    I've been enjoying your channel and I recently purchased the Aklot banjolele, but am having a hard time getting it in tune. I notice you have a tuner on your banjolele headstock, what kind of tuner is it? Do you like it? Looking to buy one. Thanks.

    • @fourstringstrummer
      @fourstringstrummer  Рік тому

      I have several tuners - the Aklot one that came with the instrument works very well. I think the one I'm using in the video is a Snark. I find most different ones I've tried work pretty well.

    I really enjoy your videos however I’m not sure what I’m doing, so I have an auto tuner now and trying to learn from you. I don’t understand what to do with my left hand not sure how to read music and position my fingers 😑 I have my banjo tunes to my dogs has fleas is this correct? Thanks

    • @fourstringstrummer
      @fourstringstrummer  5 місяців тому

      Hi there. Yup you've got the tuning right. gCEA are the notes you want the strings tuned to. If you're just getting rolling have a look at the beginners playlist in the channel. It goes over tuning, how to read chord charts and some basic strums. That might help get you started out. Have fun! Kelly

    Why strumming so far up the neck on banjolele I find it best to play halfway between the neck ends and the bridge.
    It seemed strange using pan-de-mic for the strumming. I immediately heard God-Loves-Me.

    • @fourstringstrummer
      @fourstringstrummer  Рік тому +1

      I just find the sound nice and the strumming comfortable there. It doesn't really matter too much - it's just kinda where I "end up". I like ur alternative to "pandemic". Now that we aren't so caught up in all that, I use paintbrush and sledge hammer as my two words for the strumming. Again, whatever works for you and helps you get the idea is great! Thanks - Kelly

    Hey Kelly! I hope you are doing well! 😁Just wondering if you’ve changed the strings on your Aklot Banjolele yet- and if you have any preferences on strings, or if you stuck with the Aquilla strings that came with it. Thanks!
