Excellent tutoring. Thanks from South Australia :)
Thank you for the reply. Are you up for giving some advice? I sometimes feel overwhelmed. It's not that I'm impatient. I realize learning an instrument takes time and should be a fun process. But there is so much info out there. So many apps and books and videos etc. I feel like I'm standing in a field with 1000 doors in front of me and I don't know what order to open them. Chords first? Scales first? Theory? It seems like books that cover chords don't really cover scales and theory and vice versa. Surely somewhere someone has a logical, ordered path that covers it all. But I can't find it and nothing seems all encompassing.
@@damspachercomedy there are so many ways to approach things. If you want to just play along for fun I'd say learn a few chords, spend some time on strumming and then you'll figure out what more you'd like to learn/what fits your style. Kelly
Nice video. I am a new ukulele player. I want a pineapple too. :) Not many in tenor though. Thanks for the review. I was leaning toward a Bondi (although reviews seem to be difficult to find. Do you have an opinion?) But I think the pk14 from Ohani might be the better way to go. Thanks and cheers!
@@damspachercomedy I've never played/seen the Bondi so not too sure about them. Ohana have excellent quality control!
Very nice totorial, thank you. It is my first day having a banjolele, I was tuning it and I broke the A string. To replace it, can I use a ukulele concerto A string. Are the nylon strings the same fir Ukulele and Banjolele?
@@christinemarie007 yep - same strings - should work fine
Thank you so much for your reply, I really appreciate it.
I did try this but still sounded bad. Very loud and boneless. You know what worked cutting a piece of corrugated bok cardboard to fit in the circle of the body and put it next to skin . Now it sounds great.
I hail from the UK, and have subscribed to your channel and have been binge watching all your videos. I too played guitar from a young age. I took to playing drums a few years ago , i am waiting for my Banjo uke to come from Germany. I want to do a claw hammer but we all got to start from somewhere. 👍👍

Thanks so much Bonnie!! Very thoughtful!! Kelly
@ It’s well worth it for a lesson !!!
Beautiful as an instrumental ❤ Happy holidays to all!!!
Merry Christmas to you and Kelly Jill. Kelly’s station has brought me a lot of joy this year !!
Love love these lessons. I’m working on Silent night. Now I can work in this one. By next Christmas I can play them for my cousins !
Is sledgehammering only for 4/4 or even for 3/4 music possible? I ❤ the sound of it and wanna practice happy birthday for a friend but I'm looking for a cooler strumming pattern than just down down down you know
@streeturedeluxe for 3/4 time you can use one thumb down and two brushes down as a pattern ( no need for the thumb coming back up OR you can add a thumb up after the second brush). Have a look at the tutorial I did for "The Farmer's Song" - it shows 3/4 time strumming. Have fun! Kelly
Thanks for another great lesson with this most beautiful Christmas hymn, Kelly. Your instructions, demonstrations and camera work are excellent and so conducive to our learning. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Kelly!
Thanks Patricia! Glad you enjoyed it!! Have a great Christmas! Kelly

Thanks Kelly. For me this was the best video ever. And best ukulele lesson. I love the ladder analogy. Taking the song in pieces and working on it. The embellishments. I was getting discouraged. I would give up to easily when I couldn’t get it. But nice to know how much you work at it to get it right. I’ve been really stressed with holidays this week. This came at the perfect time. And of course it’s a beautiful Carol!!!

@@wandam3295 thanks Wanda...hopefully it gets "here comes Santa Claus" outta your head...
@ 🤣- Hey, I’m curious about the ohana uke on the right side of my screen, with the tie bridge, is that a cedar top baritone? I don’t see it on your website.
@@wandam3295 that one is the TK-50ME its a tenor with a sokid cedar top and Macassar Ebony back and sides. I have it in a concert scale as well
@ Oh ok, the pic of the tenor on the website has a different bridge, so I thought maybe they came out with a baritone.
@wandam3295 yeah I think that's the concert bridge...for some reason they are different...they are available in Baritone I just don't have any at the moment.
Lovely! Thank you for the lesson!!

@@garryrowlands9787 high fashion!!
Great lesson Kelly. Not dropped in for a while, but this was a cracker to be met with. 👍
Beginner here! This is HARD 😮
@@NikkiHark hey Nikki! The advanced version towards the end is something to work up to for sure. Generally in my tutorials I try to offer 2 or 3 levels for people to play. Try to start off with the simplest one and work on that - basic strumming, basic chords. Then push yourself a little once you get that down - add an additional strum maybe or a hammer in here and there and then work your way up. You'll get it - just don't try to get it all right away. People see these videos sometimes and it kinda "looks easy when the guy does it" 😊 What viewers don't realize is sometimes it takes me a week or two of daily practice to be able to get the song down myself. Pick out one part of the song ie one chord change with consistent strumming - and play it over and over till you get it...then add the next line and chord change. It's not always exciting but it sure does work! That's how I do it. Have fun with it!! Kelly
@ The hammer...the paint brush...all new to me. Just bought my banjolele a few months ago. Thanks for the tips. Cheers
@NikkiHark have a look at the Live Jam video we did in the summer. It's a long one that goes into a lot of detail and offers some exercises to help you practice the various parts of each strum.
Okay!. You've got me singing, "Sledgehammer, Sledgehammer. Sledgehammer, Sledgehammer, right down Santy Claus Lane!"
