When look back on my early videos without zoom I cringe a little now that I know how many people view videos on the phone and think, geez, that video was not helpful to that part of my audience at all. Live and learn :)
This is so useful! I've been adding zoom manually during editing in Premiere Pro and it takes a while even with a plug in I've been using. I'm thinking after seeing this and your other Camtaisa demos it may save a lot of time for quick / short tutorial recording.
How do you animate your arrow and keep it aligned so well. . I have a hard time keeping the arrow aligned. For instance, if I move my arrow across the screen it is hard to do it in a straight line. I either have to use the arrow keys (to be sure I don’t accidentally move the animation up or down) or I have to type in the x-axis manually. Hope this makes sense. Thanks.
I move my arrow manually but the trick for me was I had to turn of canvas snapping. What was happening is Camtasia was trying to force the arrow to align to other elements on the canvas and making me batty. Once I turned of the canvas snapping that problem went away. Go to view in the tool bar, remove check from enable canvas snapping.
@@HeatherMajors Oh thanks. I have snapping off as well, just can't move the objects on the canvas in straight lines apparently. Thank for the tip though. I usually have multiple arrows. I like the idea of one smooth moving arrow instead.
Hi Steve, I made an assumption based on the video this comment is attached to. Let me back up just in case I answered the wrong question. What I do to move my arrows as one rather than multiple is to place the original arrow and have the annotation be across a long section of the timeline. Every time I want the arrow to move to the next spot I put in a custom animation to tell Camtasia to move the arrow. When the custom animation is selected, I move the arrow to the new spot and Camtasia decides the path for me. The trick I had to pay attention to was to make sure the custom animation was selected before making the move of the cursor or it would look all crazy. I hope that makes sense.
@@HeatherMajors Thanks, I understood that. I just think you animations are smooth and the arrow doesn't seem to budge one pixel to the left or right as it animates down. I have a hard time keeping the alignment so clean during animation. Most graphics software (like adobe) allows you to hold the shift key while moving an object so is move perfectly horizontal or vertical. But I do see a way to animate object so smoothly with Camtasia. You just have to hope you drag it to its new position with out moving it too far out of alignment from where it started.
@@SteveVickAK I see. Yea I don't use adobe so I was not aware of that cool feature. Camtasia is nice since it has an easier learning curve but it does not do all the cool stuff that other tools do. I just use it since it is the one allowed at work and I am too busy to learn a second tool at the moment :) Keeping in real, lol.
What animation do you think you will use the most?
Definitley Zoom. You're right, it's amazing to me what percentage of people are watching tutorials on phones!
