Has iD/Bethesda seen this masterpiece?! This video was so well edited and written I can not believe that for a 25 year old game this is done so perfectly. Every detail is shown, every minute is like a whole new story, grasping and not letting you go without an explanation. So much thought was put into making of it. I praise people who put their hard working hours into this. Quake forever . Well done team 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
i love how you put all campaigns being simultaneously happening. This is a great piece of work, i specially liked that'd you basically arranged so that'd Bitterman be out of the blast that basically destroyed all Strogg in the surface. In fact i liked that you'd got them out of the planet before that happened. Very clever. Only two campaigns have been confirmed to be happening in the same time (Joker's and Bitterman), but you made this all work very well together. Out of all your cinematic lore narrations, this is the best/my favorite.
Funny enough, I had to redo the ending because of that.^^ Initially, I planned to have Joker complete his mission first, followed by Stepchild, and then end with Bitterman. Well, far into the production, I realized that indeed the planet's surface (maybe just Cerberon, but still) is getting obliterated in the explosion. 😅
@@lechumqc7910 better to learn and fix later than never in the first place. Great work, i hope you can do Quake 4 and even the final expansion by MachineGames. We have no idea where it is set exactly, so...good luck.
Where did you get that footage from?! I recognize some of it from quake wars, quake 2 and one, maybe quake 4?(with the pod and spaceship intro?). Also the voices seem completely unfamiliar!
I always saw the Strogg being based on Star Treks The Borg but a bit more interesting. Seeing the War Lords, how their society is and how badly they fucked up their planet adds interest into the overall character
The final double battle gives me the chills every time! Especially when combined with the small chance of Joker and Bitterman fighting the leaders at the same time.
One thing I love about Machine Games' chapters for Quakes 1 and 2 is that by interweaving the two games together, they've basically tried to ensure that neither the Strogg nor the minions of Quake push the other out of the picture in terms of "main" baddies.
Wow. Clicked on this thinking it was just a normal video essay on Quake 2s lore. Didn't expect a cinematic telling making the game feel far more epic, getting me to boot the game up. Fantastic video.
Absolutely delightful. Every thought, idea, guessing, and speculation from my kid days enjoying the quake games and more put into a single amazing movie. Ty for creating this.
Man I didn’t think quake 1 and 2 were interconnected as wiki had said they were separate games……they need to make 1 game that tells this whole storyline in its entirety.
How the heck Did you do something so well? I think this is one of the most impressive videos I've seen with just how well it was put together. I'm sharing this around and I look forward to whatever you come up with.
I've always had a soft spot for this series. Once in a couple of years, I like to revisit the games to just play out the story in my head as I go along. Yours is better and this rocked man. Awesome. Earned a sub.
This is a tremendously amazing and well-done video. I love how it plays like a documentary film, it's almost like a movie adaptation of Quake. It really makes the whole story come alive like I haven't seen before.
Just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of praise this video has received. As a long term fan of Quake 2, I am very impressed by this earnest tribute. Bravo 👌🏼
Dude, i comment rarely on yt but that video was amazing. Everything is perfect in here. I love lore videos but after watching this one it will be difficult for me to watch something else. Awesome story telling, nervous, complete, epic. 1h16 felt like 10min. You earned a follower and I spent the whole night sharing your video with everyone i know.
This is really well done it should get more views. The Quake games have more lore than I realized and I love all the scenes. It feels professional and well done. Good job!
THIS video absolutely fucking slaps. Literally stumbled onto this actual gem of a channel, a goldmine. You have crafted one of, if not the best Quake videos on the platform. The story telling, music, the LORE, the lore done to perfection, as it all blends into one beautiful video. I'm genuinely in awe of how much effort was poured into this, seeing such detailed illustrations brimming with detail yet only shown for seconds, like 42:56 This has such passion, soul and energy poured into it, it's honestly such a treat. Watched this whole thing in one sitting, beyond captivating work man, legit. well done 😄
Absolutely love it. One thing tho: Why are the 2 secrets levels not included? You know the one where Bitterman is tasked with finding a super powerful weapon and destroying and shutting down the power core of a strogg satellite? There is also kinda one in ground zero where stepchild litteraly steals a strogg uniform to progress through the level. Well, I guess since they are secret levels these events dont actually have to happen and are thus not lore? Also the secret "Mine Engineering" level in Ground Zero.
I find it absolutely amazing how this is edited, i cant even tell how you did some of the shots with the models which i can only assume had to involve the use of Blender
Awesome content. I’ve always wanted an in depth look at quake and this just tops it. I wonder if there’s any correlation with General Cross and the Authority, they share the same sort of Stroggification process.
Bro, all your hard work is much appreciated. You have no idea how much good, positive memories you've brought back! Thank you for that. Also narrator's voice is somehow soothing and calming - just makes it easier to listen. Narrator sounds like the man who did narrate Settlers II Anniversary! (sorry if I gayed it up too much!) Now I can only hope that you will do Doom 2016, Doom Eternal and both Acient Gods expansion. Half-Life also comes to mind, crysis, max payne, splinter cell, wolfenstein (which is connected with doom), turok, maybe even tomb raider... I know it takes a lot of hard work, maximum effort and patience, but please - don't stop!!! Keep making these!!!
Thank you very much for this; I really appreciate it. Doom is on the list. I would love to make a video going over Doom 1, 2, and 64. Then it would be easy to bridge with 2016 and Eternal.🙂
This felt like listening to an audible book. Great narration and video editing. I just blazed my way through Quake 2 without knowing much about the lore but your video helps fill the gaps.
Awesome dive video! One of, if not the best lore dive videos I've ever seen, the editing, the animations its all there, and it's all insanely cool. I cant believe this existed a month ago and I've failed to watch it until now. Thank you so much for covering this masterpiece. ID was a blast back then, now with Eternal, they revived my childhood, and I hope this train, just won't stop! Cheers I am very interested as I saw in some gameplay footage, that some enemies performed different attacks that I remember. IS that a remake? or a mod? Please tell me, I really would like to experience Quake 2 again :D
They released a remastered version available on Steam. It includes Mission Pack 1 and 2, the N64 version, and the new 'Call of the Machine' campaign. :)
@@lechumqc7910 And now I am giving my thanks to you again. I did buy, and play the game. Just completed the 64's campaign, and I had a blast. Played on Hard because I wanted some challenge and I did Quake 2 back in a day a lot. I was very suprised about the changes they made. This is a truly colorful and honored Remake for the game. Remade and rerendered cutscenes. Ai improvements. Texture improvements. The Berzerker leaps?! I was shocked to see the Strogg came up with strategies like lauching grenades behind cover, or holding their salvo of rockets, once you get into their line of sight. Absolutely amazing. I can't thank enough, thanks to your lore deep dive, and your comment, I discovered this remake. Such a pity you have so few subs, hey at least that number went up by one \o/
Dude this is amazing work, I can see that a lot of time, effort and love was put in this video, you've turned the game into like some War Documentary video. Keep it up !
Superb work of art. Peak videogame piece of culture truly. To everyone involved i salute you. Cannot appreciate enough your work! And there's more on your channel let's fucking go!
feel like I just watched a movie. the quake universe has so much potential for a crazy interdimensional sci fi storyline, I hope something is done with it some day.
really wanted more detailed background on the Strogg and this is a good resource. I recreated them as a faction for my Quake RTS mod, Sudden Quake, as loyally to the source material as possible. Make more about the Second Invasion and what likely happens to the Strogg after Quake 4. Are there enough indications to do a full documnetary about the exact course of the fighting on the Stroggos surface in the Second Invasion?
Your videos are top notch. I've been impressed with every upload. Please keep it up! Subbed on the very first one I saw. Any chance we get a Marathon Lore video one day?

The production value of this video series is higher that probably the last 8 marvel movies, with the latter having millions of dollars poured in, doesn’t come close thi the former
Hah, nice little detail @12:15 that I didn't notice in the individual videos - you used screenshots exclusively of the N64 campaign, which could have been a prequel to Q2's base campaign based on the manual's wording of the mission objective focused on reconnaissance.
I was looking back at the different ports of Quake 2, and after replaying Q2 64, I came to the conclusion that while the levels are similar, they do represent different locations. Since not much new content was introduced in it, and I've already covered pretty much all the information in the three videos, I've decided to do a brief mission update to bridge Episodes 1 and 2, including information I forgot to mention earlier, like the craters. ☺
