I was probably about 14 when this came out, played up to the part where paranormal ghost shit started to happen. Freaked me out, never returned. The new dooms are fun but no where on this level of horror.

I just finished the game. As a kid I was too scared to finish it and watched my brother play it. It's not as scary anymore, the jumpspcares, monster-closets, and spawns got predictable, still not a bad game. I can see why, at the time of it's release, it was heavily divisive. I do like how detailed the maps were. I feel like this game would definitely benefit being played as a VR game instead. Also kinda interesting how it takes heavy inspiration from Half-Life. Portal experiment gone wrong, the health stations. Like it all came to a full circle. Been looking for very similar games lately, especially with the stencil shadows and lighting. Guess the Riddick or Fear games might be the next games to play.

So Hayden's name first was originally used here... I remember theories back when Eternal was going to be released that Samuel Hayden's name held a hint of his true identity; S. Hayden = Satan. Perhaps that was the original intent in early Doom 3.

The sketchbook style introductions immediately remind me of Clem's notebook on the monsters in The Suffering. I love it. Coupled with your David Attenbough-esque commentary, these vids are Gordon Ramsay Tier Chef's Kiss Peak Fiction!

Many of the monsters in Doom 4 (aka 2016 but I refuse to call it that) seem to have taken inspiration from Metroid Prime. In fact a lot of elements of that game seem to come from Prime (such as the 3D map working very similar, or the platforming in Eternal. The walls you can grip look almost exactly like the ones you can grip in Prime 2 for the screw attack). For instance, the pinkies work almost exactly like the baby sheegoths (I think it was called a sheegoth? It's been a very long time since I played that game. I should pick it up again sometime). The revenants are like the aerial pirates.

I can't figure out this channel man... Seems to be a bunch of different people? Seems to cover a lot of same stuff, almost in a content farm way, but much higher quality than a content farm. I just don't understand how there can be seemingly so many people behind one channel except for the fact it never seems to be cohesive in one direction and then I believe it's not just one person. Is this AI? Is this multiple creators working together? I don't fucking know. The highest quality content seems to be narrated by an American guy... But then you have this default british sounding guy in some other videos... It wouldn't be so confusing if they had more subscribers but they have very few so this number of people working on one channel seems weird. i would say they're stealing content, but it does sound like the same few people between the vids. I just know the earlier videos with the american sounding voice over seem much better researched and well made. Maybe just the fact there are more desperate americans looking for a $ since overseas has better safety nets? I dunno. The english dude on this video even has a sever lisp with almost every word ending in a noticeable 'thhhhhh' sound... Are any of them real?

I wonder what the in-universe explanation is for not bombarding Stroggos from orbit. Obviously, the real reason is "because then we wouldn't have a videogame", but I always like hearing these things justified within the setting. "Hey Sarge, why aren't we just glassing the planet?"

I dont know if you noticed this but in doom 3 you can hear an eerie audio with cutscene before encountering the spider queen, cutscene goes llike this "They took my babies" followed by a scream. would love to see your take on that.

In Doom eternal artbook, hell knight on concept arts also have Green energy on hands, In two of them are depicted with horns and one of them is literally based on his look in Doom 2, I can also note that one of Doom 4 leftover icons inside Doom 2016 closed alpha, also shows he's head with horns, and in newer Doom 2016 tech demo footages from noclip' channel showed that he had a range attack where he launched the same projectile as the cyberdemon in the second phrase from he's not augmented arm.

I'm almost at Episode 3 in one of the best Doom 3 mod expansions (Phobos) and I'm sad I haven't meet anymore survivors outside Ep. 1 :( Though even that was set right before the events from Doom 3 and Hell literally breaking lose so... Atleast I got to meet my favorite NPC's like the alcoholic marine wanting a cig and the engineer saying he'll get the elevator running 'hell or high-water' though before everything went to...well...hell xS I remember an expansion mod, of a mod for Doom 3 Perfected, that had alot of Marine survivors/teammates pretty much throughout the Doom 3 Campaign and RoE, you needed to work with them to get them to survive and they'd eventually follow you but it was pretty cool as an aside, it was like "wow theres actually others that are normal like me surviving" like you'd expect Good stuff, jump scares don't work aswell when you've 3-6 other NPC marines behind you lolz (I still don't know how they managed to make friendly AI NPC'S with animations, maybe using the Sentry but that still must of took so much work)
