I was a Chicagoan at the time. I remember reading in the Trib or Sports Illustrated that the Bears drafted Dent at a much lighter weight. When they got him to Chicago, they realized that he wasn't eating enough because he had all kind of dental problems. They may have gone so far as to get most or all of his mouth implanted with new teeth. The guy put on tens of pounds and became unstoppable. I remember seeing him on Clark Street north of where I lived. The guy was as big as a house.
I remember I was 13 years old, my brother and I was at our skating rink, girls were asking us to skate and we were into this game, we are die hard Cowboys fans but loved the Bears team that year, so many awesome players.

What was so fantastic about the 85 bears was that during the playoffs they blanked the Giants & Rams on the way to the SB......No team has ever done that before or after to this day......The mentality of the Bears defense was that if the other team doesn't score a point then they can't beat us which means we automatically go to the SB.

Ditka sucked. I watched the Bears a lot from '86 onward - Ditka would often call a running play on 3rd and long, and that sort of thing. It was maddening. He also always wanted to be in the limelight, and disliked it when any player got more media attention than he did. During Walter Payton's last game, he scored twice in the first half. Ditka practically benched him after that, barely letting him carry the ball at all, and the Bears lost. That's Mike Ditka, and that's why the 86-90 Bears never even went to another Super Bowl.
Madden and P Summeral brings me back to the good ole days when real sports commentators could make the game more fun , just by there knowledge of the game. Yeah, hard to recognize him without the broken nose he got from a chair flying at him a few years later while on his show. Should have never had Bears & Packer fans as guests on the same show/stage.
As good as this defense was the 2000 Ravens only allowed 167 points in 20 games, postseason included. Outside of Payton, Singletary, & Dent the 85 Bears were a bunch of f’ups that had everything fall into place for 1 year.
Hey that Ravens D was great but please. That starting 11 for the Ravens couldn't even handle carrying the Bears D's jock straps around for them. Maybe we'd let them clean the toilets at Soldier Field.
Glen Harrison Jr. Very strange year 1972. The BEARS lose that 13th gm against the DOLPHINS on MNF whose qb was 13. And the Dolphins went 17 0 In 72. Go figute.

I miss him so much.
Letting WILBUR MARSHALL go , was a Big mistake....
The last few minutes of this game were awesome. Recall watching with my family. The Bears going to the Super Bowl was special.
You could never get a better team than John Madden and Pat summerall announcing a game preferably the Giants

Man I was a sophomore in high school this year it was an amazing time in Chicago
One of the best defenses of all time! Including the super bowl gave up only 10 pts!
I was in school with R. Dent at Tennessee State. Incredible play.
Jim McMahon was a quarterback who apparently just wanted to WIN baby!!!

So you remember the 44-0 shearling by the bears over the cowgirls that year
Bruh no need to do him like that
Love when it started to snow at the end of the game

How the Hell did the Rams end up with Dieter Brock?
The bears had the team to go to three straight super bowl but injury's and of course the ownership mess that up . like always trying to proof a point
If McMahon stayed healthy and buddy Ryan remained as DC they win 2 more
A lot of things have to go right for a team to win the super bowl. But this teams record just showed how goated they were.

not a bears fan but for a single season this was the best team i ever saw. just my worthless opinion
Spot on.
They were arguably better the next year, but Buddy Ryan got pushed out, and Ditka was one of the worst coaches in the history of the NFL.
