Someone needs to do a video on Boris-for how good a teacher John is, Boris is that talented as a grappler. Anyone from Renzos in the older days will have “Boris stories”
This was a great mini-documentary. Let's see one on the Mendes brothers now. I also believe we will need one on Cobrinha after this year's ADCC, (I am betting his son wins his weight division).
Great video, John is an icon to me. There will never be a coach as dedicated to his students. Find one other that teaches for FREE to his pro class. I really enjoy the depth of research done on this. I’ve been going down the rabbit hole and you gave me new info. Maybe do another one about his new young talented students. Helena is already a force of nature. Ask both John and Gordon about her progress and skill level, you can tell how much they are in awe of her skill development in just over a year. I will sub bc this was a really well done video. Hope to see more in the future.
Thank you soo much for this video! There is no other channel that delves into the lives of the characters of the sport of BJJ with the same ferver, detailed research, and production.
-aside from Bravo Danaher was the only coach in BJJ who trained nogi only competitors -he focussed on a move that nobody else trained in because it was illegal in IBJJF -his most succesfull students are obsessed himself and train full time in nogi only while most of their rivals were gi athletes who hustled nogi on the side. Not an even playing field but props for Danaher for finding a niche and exploiting it as hard as he could.
What you just described is innovation, but it’s almost like you are holding it against him? He has literally changed the sport, no gi is on track to completely eclipse the gi for better or for worse.
@@kevinjohnson6549 more like he surfed the tide of nogi grappling getting more popular and jumped on board with a focus on heel hooks while it was still unexplored by other athletes. The heel hooks he took from Lister, Imanari and Palhares. The back attack system is copy pasted from Marcelo Garcia. The EBI etc gave him and his squad the stage to shine. And Tonon, Gordon Ryan and Eddie Cummings were already absolute zealots who trained full time without John being involved with them. Who else has he build aside from them? Keep in mind Bodoni, Crevar etc only approached him and his crew after they were already incredibly accomplished. Was the man a genius or was he just lucky by being at the right place with the right people?
I CAN'T SEE ANY OF THAT ON THIS GUY. NOTHING DIFFERENT FROM ALL THE PICKED COACHES. SPEAK MEMELY, IN THE PHILOSOPHER. I DON'T KNOW... JIU JITSU HAS MANY LEGENDS AND THIS GUY DOESN'T SEEM LIKE A LEGEND OF ANYTHING TO ME.
There is WAAAAAAAAAY more to the Eddie leaving story/videos/leg lock game/being told to throw a match that doesn’t paint John in a good light. Did you leave it out on purpose or do you not know??
Best jiu jitsu coach? In USA ? Ok. But You have Carlson Gracie, Della Riva, Fabio Gurgel, Relson Gracie, Pedro Hemetério, Oswaldo Fadda, Paulo Caruso, etc, etc, etc... All of them from Rio.
He has 1 great practitioner. This is so insulting to all the other greats who have made world champions. He most likely is a great coach but let's not pretend he is better than Rickson, Hello, Pedro Sauer, Saulo Ribiero.
Danaher is a great coach! This statement calling him “the greatest “ tell more about your ignorance in Jiu-Jitsu than about Danaher! It’s soo domb, disgusting and disrespectful
No footage of tourneys or even sparring from this guy just demonstrates moves! Claims a rugby injury! He rides the coattails of ppl like Gordan Ryan and Garry Tonon! Dude is the greatest convincer even got Renzo to give him a blk belt🤡
@@WarrenKirkpatrick i PERSONALLY THINK SO. I understand people are injured and dont want to compete but bloody hell, atleast roll in your class with your students or old sparring partners. we want to see him in action pulling of these techniques. I am sick of everyone using injury as an excuse not to roll on the mat but yet they fit and strong enough to teach on the mat.

Young John Danaher was a gigachad
Man he was holding onto that hair for dear life
He would kill you!
RIP Danaher hair line
😂😂😂
I know someone personally witness the transition of him from half set of hair to no set of hair. He said it was like seeing an alien.
Those are historical remains of a once thriving society of hair.

Great work on John’s life. I appreciate your hard work on this.
Glad you enjoyed it!

The crazy thing being Boris quit it all at 40

I put a link about Boris
Boris was unique. No question. He quit. Never to return.

That was great well done !
Top-notch work on this!
Just recently found your channel and loving your contents. Keep it coming

Everybody knows that Dean Lister is credited, bringing the Leg-Lock game to competition and john...
Such a gem, John Danaher. Archetype of sorts. ❤
Why would you ignore 50% of the like button?
Great job! Keep them coming.
Wow thanks again for this!!!
Amazing video - obviously very thoroughly researched and well presented- brilliant work!🥋🤙🏼🛡️⚔️
Much appreciated!
Love this! It made work and traffic enjoyable
Glad you enjoyed it!☺
Thank you for your awesome job!
I was watching a video about skinheads and somehow this was the video UA-cam suggested next

Found the guy who trains at Atos 😂
This was such a well made video
I think a Master's super fight would be cool. Like former adcc champs who are older have super fights could be cool.
Great video!
Thanks!
But when did he make the conversion from normal clothes to strictly rash guards.
he still trains and teaches in the gi especially judo, karate, and jj. Just depends on what class or seminar hes training and what their goals are.
Nothing about Helena Crevar???
Eduardo Henriques Da Silva is the greatest Coach of all time.
Este é O canal. Aprendo os exercícios, prático meu inglês (por isso não ativo a legenda) e vejo lendas na "caverna".

I loved him in perfect stranger
I thought I was the only one who thought that :)
Carlson Gracie is the greatest jiu-jitsu/mma coach.
Name 5 world champs from that gym that are well known today.
Cool man
I never he had the neck of Mike Tyson when he was younger

Where is Eddie now. Why would he ask someone who would lose anyways to throw a match
I see you’re just a white/blue belt.
There is much to learn young grasshopper.
Sit down shut up and learn your place
@@quaylenlykes5511 lol you don’t know your history. Eddie was the top dog of DDS. If you don’t know that, you need to educate yourself.
@Gussux why did he leave? 🤷♂️
I have no idea about it 🤦♂️
I remember the circuits and Eddie being a beast. I never really knew what happened. I think Gordon became the Golden Goose
Danaher?? Are you sure it isn't Vinnie Maghayahyah 🤔
You misspelled Carlson Gracie.
Carlson Gracie was the best.
Curti o vídeo oussss
Who is that ginger commentator? I have seen him before.

JON, THIS GUY, IS ONLY A “COACH ZÉ RUELA”😂😂😂😂😂
Greatest, I don’t think so, search about master Carlson Gracie
"Self-proclaimed cripple"?
In the Rogan podcast I think he referred to his knee injury as ‘crippling’. But yeh, ‘self proclaimed cripple’ is a little weird sounding.
He has called himself a cripple on a few occasions. He refers to his injuries and health issues in podcasts and instructionals often

American white-washing, pal. They do this all the time.

Renato Laranja is the Goat
Yes Poha
Rebranding other people's BJJ games doesn't make him a genius.
You slow gang
What a stupid comment!
rebranding sambo lwglocks more like and yes, of course other bjj guys too
I'd consider Helio better than John for obvious reasons...
Helio is no longer alive
