    This was a great mini-documentary.
    Let's see one on the Mendes brothers now.

    Great video, John is an icon to me. There will never be a coach as dedicated to his students. Find one other that teaches for FREE to his pro class. I really enjoy the depth of research done on this. I’ve been going down the rabbit hole and you gave me new info. Maybe do another one about his new young talented students. Helena is already a force of nature. Ask both John and Gordon about her progress and skill level, you can tell how much they are in awe of her skill development in just over a year. I will sub bc this was a really well done video. Hope to see more in the future.

    -aside from Bravo Danaher was the only coach in BJJ who trained nogi only competitors
    -he focussed on a move that nobody else trained in because it was illegal in IBJJF
    -his most succesfull students are obsessed himself and train full time in nogi only while most of their rivals were gi athletes who hustled nogi on the side.
    Not an even playing field but props for Danaher for finding a niche and exploiting it as hard as he could.

    • @kevinjohnson6549
      @kevinjohnson6549 10 місяців тому +9

      What you just described is innovation, but it’s almost like you are holding it against him? He has literally changed the sport, no gi is on track to completely eclipse the gi for better or for worse.

    • @Reflectionmaterial
      @Reflectionmaterial 10 місяців тому +2

      @@kevinjohnson6549 more like he surfed the tide of nogi grappling getting more popular and jumped on board with a focus on heel hooks while it was still unexplored by other athletes.
      The heel hooks he took from Lister, Imanari and Palhares.
      The back attack system is copy pasted from Marcelo Garcia.
      The EBI etc gave him and his squad the stage to shine.
      And Tonon, Gordon Ryan and Eddie Cummings were already absolute zealots who trained full time without John being involved with them.
      Who else has he build aside from them?
      Keep in mind Bodoni, Crevar etc only approached him and his crew after they were already incredibly accomplished.
      Was the man a genius or was he just lucky by being at the right place with the right people?
