Danaher always teaching, even in a documentary. What a beautiful human being.♥️
He's a genius!
"he thought of himself as just another guy in the room." Hit me in the gut. I'm sure a lot of us feel like that.
As someone who's a casual when it comes to the pro jiu-jitsu circuit I'd never heard of him until ADCC. What an evolution! Also love the documentary, great sound, visuals, storytelling, great job!
he has a really good youtube giancarlo def check it out great techniques
If you're a casual fan, I'm sure you've probably heard of Craig Jones, but if not, check him out. He's hilarious and one of the best
I had the pleasure of training with him when he was a brown belt after he won ibjjf worlds in the gi. I could tell even then, like "this guy is a little different". He just had an aura of something special.
If Lachlan was the breakout star of 2019, Giancarlo was definitely it this last go around. With Gordon making gigantic waves at ADCC, I think Giancarlo's incredible performance kind of gets overlooked. Great work by Flo in shining the spotlight on Giancarlo and I look forward to all the great things he'll do in the future.
Great documentary. The lesson here: anyone can completely reinvent themselves in a relatively short period of time. Thank you, Giancarlo for the inspiration.
Giancarlo is a gem, happy to see him get his recognition ❤
G’carlo knee torn to shreds
Gordon commentating - “nice inverted heel hook
😂😂😂😂😂
what a testament to this mans determination and also Danahers coaching
I trained with Giancarlo for a very short time in Toledo at Dante’s gym. Probably one of the nicest guys in the BJJ community. I’ll never forget how nice he was to me. So happy to see his success.
I think this guy reffed some of my blue belt matches a while back. So sorry you had to stand there and watch that
"peoples perception of reality can severly impacted by prior beliefs" just a nice post modernist inside from a world class coach.
The smile after he got that foot lock was awesome. Really great example that even when you're a high-level black belt, you can still learn so much more and get even better.
The current belt system is antiquated at best, and completely irrelevant at worst.
@@anonymousreviewer169 How do you propose to improve it?
@@Spiritof_76Don't use belts. Like every other sport
@@dcn92123 I would be fine with that, but (almost) no one wants to compete at a tournament where former black belts commit violence on a bunch of newbies because they weigh the same or are the same age. Do you also propose that karate, tkd, judo, and bjj use velcro or buttons to keep the gi top closed, or go sambo style and color coordinate?
@@Spiritof_76 I think the belts are necessary, any form of identification will be manipulated by coaches who want to show off their blue belt who is clearly black belt level. There are teens who are better than most black belts will ever be. Most realistic people know the belts aren't a real indicator of anything other than time and dedication.
One of the best ones produced by Flo. Thank you
The change in physicality and overall body composition is pretty drastic too
GSP still so humble! Truly amazing.
Glad they're doing the interview at Danaher's place. Inside the Death Star.
Full length documentary lets gooooo
Super Clean run through a tough division mad props
Craig Jones vs Giancarlo Bodoni at 88kg. Thats the match we want to see, make it happen Flo.
This story is another example of how high the ceiling is and what kind of changes are possible when you’re focused. Insane story. And getting to hear Danaher expound and really peel apart the driving factors and the truth behind the scenes is so great. It’s a always eye-opening.
As much as John Danaher is a technical genius, he is also a psychological one.
Giancarlo is a DAWG.
Lucky to have him as an instructor here in Austin.
God bless Texas
How does that work, does he have multiple gyms or do you train at new wave?
Amazing doc work, shout out to whoever filmed and edited this piece
ok, to be honest. i watch in full, and this guy has a new fan, that fan is me.
Holy shit this documentary was incredible. Way to frigging go flo. Damn. I’m kinda blown away.
What a documentary!
Wow. So well done. Inspirational and a showcase of just one of the dramatic stories from ADCC 2022. Can we also get some love for Darth Danaher?
Awesome so far. Can’t wait to finish. Strong work flo!
These documentaries are amazing! Very well produced and entertaining
The next generation is rising up...watch out world.
This is an amazing documentary and so well filmed and produced. You guys knocked it out of the park! You don’t even need to be into grappling to find a compelling watch here 👏
The Best Documentary Yet!
Wish flo pumped more of these out. Love these 🤌🏼
Great story of overcoming adversity that we so often see in Jiu Jitsu- inspired as ever!
Simplemente bravo.
Quality of this documentary is unreal, 11/10
about TIME!!! sick shit flo
This is such a genius topic to have a documentary on. I'm not sure who came up with it, but f'ing kudos! Using Giancarlo as a case study was also smart. Dope integration of biography, bjj biography, and team biography. Very well done.
Excellent documentary! Well done guys !!
Amazing quality on this documentary and what a story! Hard work and perfect practice are a dangerous combination. John's teaching methods are proven to work.
Goosebumps when you listen to John Danaher
New wave is no joke, Gordon, Nick, Luke and now Giancarlo. Nice 🤙🏽
That was amazing! Giancarlo is such a great guy, and flo is upping the game! Well done.
This what a sick piece of content, well done
Flograppling is a blessing 🙏
Amazing evolution and great production! I also always love to see John Danaher and his analytical approach to everything.
I love his style! Been a fan since the 1st match at ADCC!
Fantastic documentary! I didn’t know that leg locks were his weakness. He certainly went to the right place to learn how to defend them and that helped get him to the finals. I look forward to seeing this man’s progression over the years. Great job Flo
so awesome ossssss
Thank you FloGrappling for providing this awesome content! Keep it up!
I was absolutely inspired by his story. It actually made me believe I can grow even more than I thought . Bravo sir
Now don't get too excited there buddy. For every Bodoni that gets gold, there are thousands that languish in sub-poverty levels pursuing the same thing. Just kidding. Have fun.
@@anonymousreviewer169 absolutely
This documentary is fuckn I g well produced
amazing documentary. cant wait to see what's next for him !
This is incredible!
Thanks for this film, i love the story telling, clips and the phase of the whole thing, cudoz
Very inspirational
Thanks Flo, great doc.
Such an inspirational story !
great work guys, wonderful video
Fantastic video. More like this please Flo 👏 Bodoni is a beast. 👏
What a fantastic story!! And what a fantastic guy! So humble and down to earth, we need more of those guys in jiujitsu. All I knew before about him was that he was always the guy getting smashed in Danahers half guard videos lol. Wish him all the best! A true champion!
And as always, Danaher is the true god of this sport..
Awesome production @flograppling! 🙌🙌🙌
Guys! Fantastic job on the documentary, really upped your game!
This has inspired me for sure, thank you
With all the stuff he shoots into his veins, he has not only become dangerous but also luminous.
An amazing athlete, and an even better human being! 🙌🏼
Super impressive 👏 can't wait to see more of his matches in the future 💯
flo grappling consistently putting out top content keep up the great work
Man what an incredible journey, I’m definitely a new fan…
We need more documentaries like this!🙏🤙
Bodoni is someone to watch he has come a long way in a short time. Thanks to his new training under the camp of John Danaher. Very impressive!
Awesome documentary!
This Film is a huge inspiration
fantastic doc!
Fascinating sport !
What a great documentary. Very well done. Giancarlo is the man, John is awesome as always. And super emotional watching him embrace with Bernardo Faria in the end. This is the best shit.
Great story ❤ Huge thanks for sharing.
His physique has changed through the years
He's obviously on the juice, but so is everyone else at that level. It does make his recent rise to the top a bit less incredible.
@@joeschmoe6908 right on the spot man
If everyone is on juice, juice doesn’t make his rise to the top less incredible.
This was amazing! 🔥🔥🔥
This was awesome
yo Flo this is the content we need
It looks like he's absorbed 'all' aspects of the new wave/death squad philosophy.
Awesome film. Great story and had me rivetted from the start.
I like coaches focus, technical-strategic mindset and intensity!
So good Flo!
These are so well made
I got chills toward the end by listening to Danaher speaking about that psychology topic
HE was skronny and getting beat, then hes HUGE and winning, i like it :-)
GREAAAT FILM !
Excellent 👍👍👍
Beautiful beautiful beautiful
8:07 I just wanted to comment on what Johns saying here- not that I even know jiu-jitsu- I’m just a fan. But just from a couple of decades as an ice hockey player, there are transferable ideas there.
One coach taught us when I was a U16, that it’s important to see the game from the eyes of your opponent. And when your doing that, imagine the LAST f*cking thing they want to see from you. Now you do that thing, and you
do it as though it were your number one move, over and over again because one factor to defeating a team is introducing a state of frustration in trying to execute their game plan. And believe it or not, it’s actually much easier to accomplish that, than it is to ignore it and simply try to impose your own game plan.
I just thought that was an interesting comparison. Cheers.
Great content
Amazing stuff
great documentary all credit to Giancarlo and Danaher
36:21 I know Seth took a lot of flack for going a lil' wild, but shout out to how awesome ADCC 2022 was because of him.
Your content is the best. Seriously, I've loved submission grappling for 25 years and FloGrappling is essential for the soul.
49:55 its beautiful to see that kind of humility, brings me damn near to tears for some reason
Well produced
Great stuff!
