People just don't understand that though. They think the V6 models are just crap and a waste of building the car. The fact of the matter is without the V6 models people probably wouldn't even keep buying them. Me personally I love the big 3 V6 mini-muscle cars. You're still driving a very nice car and at a decent price too.
The rear axle locators squeak on my 2011 GT. You have to jack it up and hit them with a little spray grease. Did I mention the dash rattles? Besides that it is a great vehicle!
I absolutely love my '11GT; Grabber blue, 6sp. I traded my '08 in on it (Oct 2010) and never looked back. The first thing I did was put on matte black stripes, FlowMasters and then a K&N. I haven't had any mechanical issues and no problems with the transmission. I don't know how long the original tires would have lasted, I put new tires and rims on about 6 months after I bought it. Those factory wheels are hideous. That's my only complaint. No, I do have one, the heater/AC are way to loud on the high setting, but they work like a champ.
NEXT I got $19,500 for my '08; only had 22K miles on it. I paid $26,000 for the '11 (in Oct 2010), my wife's grandfather retired from Ford, so we used the employee pricing. I also got the Ford Loyalty and Military rebate(s).
NEXT The '08 was a GT Premium (leather, chrome wheels, the different light settings [it has a specific name, but can't think of it, etc], this '11 is a base GT, cloth interior, alloy wheels, which I took off. I think I confused myself in the way I wrote that. I still owed money on the '08, so...after the rebates and the payoff (which was added into the total price of the 2011) I paid $26K for it; the 2011. Give or take a few thousand, I can't remember the exact amounts. But, yes, in my opinion, I got a good deal. This car is a beast and I get compliments on it whenever I drive it. I have less than 25K miles on it at the moment.
It's funny watching this video now (2015) knowing that you chose this car as your top pick for a sporty car at that time, but then in your 2014 annual auto issue, the same car is on your "Used Cars to Avoid" list.
droidnoid is right! I live in switzerland and have ordered a mustang GT. will be a 2012 model and arrive in may. can't wait! one reason why I ordered it is certainly that I always wanted to have an american car with a V8 cause for me these are simply the best sounding engines in the world. but besides, these cars just offer so much value for the money! even though I pay much more here for it then in america, a european car offering the same power would cost me like $ 120'000. go mustang!!
My 2012 mustang MCA edition V6 just stated draining the battery. Its always dead after 2 days sitting....does anyone know what could be the problem? Ford dealer put in new battery and it still has parasitic drain....
I love this car but it is gas guzzler that is what turns me off, wish ford made a similar fun to drive smaller RWD with 4 cylinder and manual tranny.. They can do it easily... it is all about power to weight ratio,.. 35mpg hwy is what I like to see.. along with good accl and super nice handling
When Ford first came out with Mustangs they were appealing to the younger generation.. So they change it up for each generation. Just because it's different from what you had, doesn't make them a bad company that doesn't care about their customers.
@Silvertrine Actually Audi has exceptional quality for their new 09+ cars and for $10/month offer Audi care service which handles all the fluid changes and regular scheduled maintenance fees. The only thing you pay for besides the monthly payments is the gas and that's it.
Kudos to Ford there for making the Stang GT more nimble and better handling than the Camaro. Last check the Camaro had independent suspension vs the mustang live axle. I don't like it, but Ford done a good job in this department. The 5.0 V8 is also sweet; almost as good if not better than BMW M3 V8.
@cheaniggachea We just bought a 2010 Audi A4 for my wife and I have a new 5.0 GT being built. After spending quite a bit of time driving both, I have to give ford credit that they have seriously stepped their game up in ride quality and handling. I think the 5.0 has slightly better steering and balance when pushed hard but the audi has a bit better attention to detail in the interior and the materials feel a bit better. As far as not handling as well as the GT, well it IS their budget car
A car that beats the BMW M3 ( the benchmark car). This car will beat all cars in its price range and some in the 6 digit range as well and decent gas mileage specially with the gas prices in the 4 dollar range. Japan and Germany does have a car that can beat it and not go broke.
@makemebad747 Really? I been trying to decide between the 2011 mustang, camaro, challenger when I can. Doing my research but I like the mustang overall. I might just get a toyota Tacoma, lol.
@TopGear759 ....and the price is nowhere near any of those cars you named. But then again no Audi BMW VW can compete with this Mustang in performance for the same price.
The build quality is such shit. My friend has an '08 mustang and her inner passenger door panel has fallen off (from regular use), the seek buttons on the radio have fallen off, (fell off within the first month of having the car) and the driver power seat stopped working. No abuse whatsoever done to the car. Ford sucks.
Ford has decided, in its infinite wisdom, to completely change it.....AGAIN. This time the look is totally different and totally unacceptable to most Mustang enthusiasts. The passion and loyalty buyers have demonstrated over the years has been ignored...AGAIN. Gone will be the lineage and history...now it's all about young buyers who don't give a damn about cars in general, and Mustangs in particular. Looks like Ford has fallen gack into its old habit of killing another money-maker.
ok and my buddys 09 bmw's cheak engine light came on, then didnt start. some shit to do with the key wiring. wow, funny you mention the power seat stop working lol. i actually met a guy last week at a cruise night here in ontario... the power seats in his 10' GTR stopped working. so he replacent them with some recaro racing seats or some shit.... yup quality their too
@dfwmichael2003 You should know that JD Powers is a joke. They test upfront quality, the thing about all those Japanese cars is that they last, not necessarily the fact that they may or may not have a soft touch dash. Reliability is what counts, and Ford has not had a good track record there.
@TopGear759 None of the cars you mentioned have any long term quality that's anything to brag about certainly not VW. Have you actually seen any VW quality ratings in the last, i'd say 10yrs? At one point they were at the bottom of the quality list. I actually know a couple ex die hard VW fans that finally gave up and moved on.
@simpsonfan13 hey man, i gotta giv "props" 2 ur comment, u set dat dude straight.. it was about time someone put ppl like dis in der place, well said man..
Fuck yeah! I feel the same bro! the new mustang is fat and chubby xD the old was the true mustang. And i think than i can say the same for the camaro, charger, challenger, GTO, and some more...
That's because the '08 model year was built in '07, before Ford's restructuring and turnaround in '08/'09...you know, the reason why they didn't have to take the government handouts like GM did? I'll agree, before the turnaround, domestic cars were essentially pieces of shit, but since then, Ford has skyrocketed to the #1 spot in terms of initial quality for a non-luxury brand. GM and Chrystler have both greatly improved as well since their near-death experiences.
this car is AWFUL ,, first of all im a lexus//acura guy ,i test drove this car last week coz one of my friends encouraged me to take a look at this new ford mustang and i have to say that this car handles like a prehistoric car just like the body styling look,, it only handles good on a straight line but that doesn't give any exception coz all brand new vehicles these days handle great on a straight line
ford is really behind on modern style and build quality. handeling and performance is also another gripe I have the mustang. I feel that the handling of the mustang is just so far behind it's rivals like the 335 bmw or the subaru wrx and many other cars. even the european focus rs 500 is better than the mustang.
@dfwmichael2003 HA...you do realize Ford's quality has went to shit. How about you check the LATEST JD Powers initial quality. I believe they dropped from 6th to 23rd if I remember correctly. Check out all the transmission failures Mustang owners are having. Pretty pathetic when the car hasn't even been out a year yet.
@Lexolo999 Perhaps you should learn a little about JD Power before shooting your mouth off. JD Power also does a Vehicle Dependability Study that looks at long-term reliability.
@SOFSoldier1 no they haven't in any way my 12 mustang has had 3 transmission in its 4 month life. i wouldn't buy it if i were you the dealership is full of ass clowns and now that my car qualifies for lemon law the made me drop 5 thousand on the 3rd transmission because they say im "abusing" the car. but in reality the Chinese transmissions are pure SHIT! dont buy this car you will be sorry like i am
Aye luxury car guys quit posting bad things about this old fashioned muscle car - buy an M3 if you want tech. This car is for purists... thanks to your opinions the newest mustangs will have more tech than class :(
Mustangs will always be the king of muscle cars.
Recorded with a Texas instrument graphic calculator in 120p. Thanks consumer reports.
not even 480p
The rear axle locators squeak on my 2011 GT. You have to jack it up and hit them with a little spray grease. Did I mention the dash rattles? Besides that it is a great vehicle!
So that's what the noise is on mine sometimes.
the classic sound of 5.0 v8 ford engine, i like it
nothing wrong with a V6. Almost as fast as a 2010 Mustang GT.
fantastic car. ford has really been on the ball lately.
I absolutely love my '11GT; Grabber blue, 6sp. I traded my '08 in on it (Oct 2010) and never looked back. The first thing I did was put on matte black stripes, FlowMasters and then a K&N. I love it. I got 2 of them: '08 GT and '12 GT.
It's funny watching this video now (2015) knowing that you chose this car as your top pick for a sporty car at that time, but then in your 2014 annual auto issue, the same car is on your "Used Cars to Avoid" list.
same with our '90 5.0... love mustangs.
Mustang has been awesome since '64.
i love my manual 11 v6 :)
dr r 305hp on a car that lightweight has gotta be a blast with a stick shift!
droidnoid is right!

Anyone know what the intro song is?
@DroidNoid The 5.0 is actually SAE certified at 411 hp.

Informative review
Jake and Tom are the best reviewers
CR! 4ever

this is my big dream that will never come true...
I never thought I'd say it but the v6 version is growing on me.. This coming front a muscle car purist.
love the looks
my 93 5.0 gt is still rumbling and every now and then still shocks someone at the redlight
Kudos to Ford there for making the Stang GT more nimble and better handling than the Camaro. Last check the Camaro had independent suspension vs the mustang live axle. no squeaks or rattles in my 2011 GT. sry to hear yours does. id take a wee squeak or rattle in my mustang over none in a chevy or dodge any day tho :)
MARGAUX - EYES ON YOU
Thank you!
FORD: FIRST ON RACE DAY.

that is an awesome idea
@IIdemonII the V8 with brembo package is only 1/10th of a second slower than a 2011 M3. not bad for a car that's several tens of thousands cheaper.
the new V6 is close to being a GT (2005-09)
@dfwmichael2003 Not Scion, isn't it Ford third? Scion is first and toyota is second right?
waiting for my 2012 GT....
@aepack2006 four seat corvette. Go listen again if you didn't think you heard correctly.
@makemebad747 Really? I been trying to decide between the 2011 mustang, camaro, challenger when I can. Doing my research but I like the mustang overall. I might just get a toyota Tacoma, lol.
@Boborodful what?
i personally like the front of the v6 more than the gt ,idk thats just my opinion
@TheOmniscientAtheist Heck yes it does. More fun.
I am a hardcore v8 fan, but I would really like to know what a 2012 twin turbo V6 could do........ hmmmmmmm
Goooo Ford :D
@dfwmichael2003 AGREE
FORD is coming a longgg way.
@LTF85199 Um, no its not. Not even the 2011 GT500 has the gas guzzler tax anymore.
@TopGear759 ....and the price is nowhere near any of those cars you named. But then again no Audi BMW VW can compete with this Mustang in performance for the same price.

what the hell gear nob from 2005 ford focus (E.U)

Ok I think if I were to get a mustang GT, it's going to be a manual and not a auto.
yeah i'd be kind of pissed if i bought an 2010 Mustang GT, back in Jan.
ok and my buddys 09 bmw's cheak engine light came on, then didnt start. some shit to do with the key wiring. wow, funny you mention the power seat stop working lol. i actually met a guy last week at a cruise night here in ontario... the power seats in his 10' GTR stopped working. so he replacent them with some recaro racing seats or some shit.... yup quality their too

@FastRedPonyCar should've bought a bmw and get the best of both worlds
yep, and it still outhandles anything in its bracket and above...
live rear axel... REALLY?
@elitex50 so if you got one as rental would it turn you into a douchebag? by shitty i assume you mean looks. that's a point of view.
Fuck yeah! I feel the same bro! the new mustang is fat and chubby xD the old was the true mustang. And i think than i can say the same for the camaro, charger, challenger, GTO, and some more...

With gas prices where it's at, don't see why anyone would even consider driving a gas guzzling domestic.

sounds like someones jealous
@makemebad747 iv had a 2012 5.0 for about a month and my trans is just fine... maybe u dont know how to drive
@TopGear759 you r joking right ? Ford's quality us 100 times better and Audi and VW , Bmw is such an dog beef car .
24 MPG... great(!)
BTW does this piece of shit still have a live axel lol?
Ford's quality is no where near Audi,BMW,VW or any European car.
not change anything? you kidding.......more gas efficient, more modern looks.....you're old hate dude.

What a piece of JUNK! If I want something that is fast, comfortable, and reliable, I would merely purchase an M4, or Camry SE V6.
