yeahhhhh
I do, right now

So fat that you start a suumo ringer carrier?
I just know Arlo's in Pikmin Heaven right now with these ports. I'm also glad that I finally have an updated way to play, and have enjoyed it immensely.
Same here.
It's awesome.
We're getting a lot of great GameCube games on Switch this year. It's awesome.
Also, it's always great when Arlo is able to be just plain happy! Best UA-camr ever.
I’d like to hear what he has to say about Pikmin inspired IPs like Overlord, he doesn’t talk about retro games unless they’ve been rereleased on a Nintendo platform so we will never get such a review.
Man I’ve already 100% completed both of them, and it was my first time actually beating pikmin 2, so I think it’s safe to say that I’m addicted to the little plant guys once again
Xd
whenever I see anything pikmin related I always think how is arlo reacting. it's amazing
same
it should be more important what you think, not what a random dude named arlo thinks
@@kurikuraconkuritascry more
Hey Arlo! Just wanted to swing by and say THANK YOU SO FREAKING MUCH for getting me into pikmin. Because of YOU I got into 3 deluxe and since then went all the way back to the Wii to play 1 and 2. And now we’re finally here at pikmin 4. So uh, yeah. Thanks a ton dude!
Same!!!
Which one is your favorite?
@@bringthecheese9504 ooh, tough question. For the longest time it was 2 but recently it shifted to 3dx. But now I can almost confidently say it’s four by a long shot
When you love a game that's as under rated as pikmin you have to spread the word
I didn't even know 1 was on the Wii. I saw 2 and that was enough for me.
1:25 You know you are a true pikmin fan when seeing those purples running at the anode beetles while charging electricity makes you panic a little bit.
Similarly, when you see Arlo(?) throwing Blues at a Fiery Blowhog.
@@Skelatox I don't want to be that person but: *Arlo
Yeah the entire video I was paying attention to how many Pikmin died or otherwise were in danger.
Arlo is the original blue pikmin
I absolutely hated the anode beetles as a kid.
This one time my entire party of purples, whites and reds, where killed instantly, just because I was trying to kill the swooping snitchbug.
Thank goodness Pikmin 2 had the option to restart the floor your on.
I can't imagine how many people Arlo has gotten into pikmin, Nintendo needs to give him a medal or something
Or cash... lol
As a pikmin fan from the first game released on GameCube. I can say that you are the biggest role model to any pikmin fan out there!
„Role Model“ for game fandom? Rofl. Pathetic, dude.
arlo loves pikmin and i love arlo
but when it comes to pikmin there are a lot of youtubers who make better pikmin videos
there isnt really a topic that arlo does best but he does all of them great
Speak for yourself, mine's PikHacker
Chugaconroy was on pikmin way before
Pikmin 2 is one of my all-time faves too. No one ever talks about the 2-player vs battle mode but me and my brother had a lot of fun fighting each others’ Pikmin armies as kids and all the fun power ups you got from the cherries.
This was me and my sister
Those glitches always existed in past versions, the Switch just has a button that let's everyone take videos and post them to twitter directly so you'll see weird janky stuff happening more now
I mean, glitches add to the charm of a game in most cases. I can see why you'd want them to be fixed though.
@@s.p.d.magentaranger1822 If it was in the original, fine, but most people seem to think these are new glitches... would like to believe otherwise, but I'm assuming the translating of these games via emulation is only mostly perfect...
i love seeing people on twitter get confused with the games or get demolished by one enemy. the one where the guy watches his pikmin drown for the very first time as he sits there shocked is so relatable! i played the games when i was 5. it took me years to get all the parts in 1, id always get like 21 before day 30 came. my pikmin 2 save file has 242 days! i dont even know how i got THAT much play time out of it with one file.
I finally played pikmin for the first time with these remasters and I fell in love I seriously can’t wait for 4 now I am now a pikmin fan thanks Arlo!
(Sorry, comment got a little long D=)
They are ports, not remasters, even using the hybrid emulation approach Skyward Sword HD and Mario Galaxy did.
Nintendo is actually really consistent about it in the Switch era:
Metroid Prime Remastered is a proper remaster, as the name says.
In the Direct they called Pikmin 1 + 2 "HD versions", meaning it's a port in HD (with a few HUD element updates Arlo mentioned).
Skyward Sword HD is the same thing, though they did use some form of upscaling for all the textures according to Tantalus themselves, but they weren't remade, and Skyward Sword HD is running at 60fps which is awesome and especially great for the motion controls, unlike Pikmin 1 + 2 where it's sadly capped at 30fps.
Something that is weird is that Twilight Princess HD and WindWaker HD are actually remasters, but Nintendo opted to call them " HD" respectively.
Do you think Wind Waker and Twighlight HD will ever get ported to Switch?
Aww, that's awesome! ^^
@@CC42_ I sure hope they will do that, would be incredible! (As long as they don't ask for more than 40 bucks as a 2-1 package price)
@@Kniffel101 It's a port AND a remaster.
Although if these are using the hybrid emulation approach they're only ports in name, not nature. That back-end technical stuff doesn't really matter though as what matters is the discernible front-end stuff. The front-end appears to be a remaster, and a remaster it is.
Companies have misused all the different terms over the years and haven't stayed consistent. This has lead to mass confusion within the industry now. I always compare to film terms for my definitions.
Of course ports don't exist in film, but a remaster is always just an upscale from the source (and it's critically the same in the audio industry too with music remastering), it's never a new product
By that common definition these are remasters, as they're running at a higher resolution than source (480p Wii in this case) but with little to no recreation of assets
I would agree that something like Skyward Sword HD still fits this criteria too as does Twilight HD, but Metroid Prime Remastered & Wind Waker HD go far beyond that scope and are for all intents and purposes extremely faithful remakes - i.e. Ocarina 3D/StarFox 64 3D etc.
What many in the modern industry call remakes today (let's say Resident Evil 2 Remake) are basically new games based on the same premise as the original, but generally ditch the skeleton framework in favour of creative liberty (whether that's level design, changing fundamental mechanics, altering characterisation... anything like this)
So I refer to them as reimaginings - no one uses this term because the companies don't for their marketing (you used to see things like "re-telling" for stories & tales back in the day, and its a similar thing), but that doesn't make it inaccurate or inappropriate
When I first got a switch I started looking for switch content creators and obviously fell in love with Arlo. Fast forward a bit and I came across some videos of Arlo nerding out over Pikmin and Paper Mario and I knew I found a good one. Growing up Pikmin and Paper Mario were my FAVOURITE but no one around me liked them as much as I did. I'm so glad we get to experience new Pikmin in 2023, and I'm glad I get to experience it alongside Arlo
Always found it funny how so many of Arlo's Pikmin videos have Hey Pikmin music in them. Perhaps he or Kane don't mind it so much after all...
They don't hate Hey Pikmin, they're just disappointed in it.
@@rileygoddard7181 Fair! I have a feeling a lot of people might stand up for it once Pikmin 4 has been out for a bit. I can't deny it was released at the worst possible time though.
all Hey Pikim! flaws aside, the music is fantastic
@@sambadcoe5009 Ngl it's a really great soundtrack
@@Danominator Hey Pikmin is quite similar to Metroid Prime: Federation Force in that regard (being released at the worst time and gaining a bad reputation mainly because of that)
i honestly did not notice the title being Pikmin 1, but now I can never unsee it
So happy to get to play these finally. I started with pikmin 3 on the wiiu after hearing arlo gush about the series way back. Finishing up pikmin 1 only have the last main area to collect ship parts from. Only "glitch" ive encountered is that blues seem to struggle at getting things out of the water. Took forever to get the floatation thing out from under the blue onion, guess it was clipping on the waters edge. So excited for pikmin 2, ive found 1 to be a little stressful with the 30 day limit. I like taking my time and in 3 i never felt like i was running out of juice except for that one day....(im going to blow louie up in 2 at least one time for every juice he snatched), so i think 2 will better fit my needs to take time even if it loves being pikmin 2 from time to time. Cant wait for 4!
Dude, that last second Pikmin roundup at the end there stressed me the hell out.
I feel the games are as glitchy as the original, but the fact we can now easily record and share these instances has just made them seem that much more common.
As for the ports themselves, I kinda wanted a Metroid Prime Remaster treatment for these, basically Pikmin 1 and 2 made in 3's engine, but I guess that would've changed the core experience a lot. They are amazing, my only nitpick is that there should be an option to toggle Swarming by default and Swarming with L, I still sometimes forget how to swarm.
Definitely not. I have played these games extensively and replayed them often, and I have never seen these many collision glitches before, especially in Pikmin 2
I’m still trying to get used to the new way to do c stick I can’t seem to take down the snarget without loosing Pikmin
I cant seem to swarm at all
@@Bonghoul ohhhhhhhhhhh I'm so stupid lol. Thank you!
@@Bonghoul I was trying to use the right and left stick to swarm, like an idiot. Beat the first game last night throwing one guy at a time.
One of my favorite things that specifically the Pikmin 1 port fixed is the INFAMOUS CRUSH GLITCH! I can now fight Bulborbs and stuff without worrying about my Pikmin falling through the floor and it's AMAZING
I have never actually noticed the crush glitch, i am aware that it has a lot if weird glitches exist including just randomly dieing without reason, but i haven't noticed them.
I’m so glad these were released. I never got the chance to play these on other consoles, and I didn’t want to start on the third game. But now I’ve fallen in love. I’ve played through Pikmin 1 twice in a row, and I’ve now started Pikmin 2. I’m excited to play all the games now, and so sad I’ve missed out on this series until now.
Now that you mention it. It is kind of weird how Nintendo retroactively added a one to its title.
Also i remember in like 2012 buying new motion control Pikmin 2. I can't believe how long its been since the last port. Time flies.
When I threw a Pikmin at a pellet posy and the Pikmin carried it back to base on his own it blew my mind
I love how the video ends with all of arlo's pikmin dying because of night time
Surprised you didn't talk about the changes for the textures of some of the treasures in Pikmin 2 due to expired licensing. It's minor but removes that extra sparkle from the world.
Yeah, I agree. To me, treasure hunting was even more fun because it was so exciting to see a vintage bottle cap for drinks like Dr. Pepper and Squirt, and even the packaging for the SAME brand of deviled ham that we just had a couple of days ago. Sure, the implications for what that means for us humans is kinda morbid, but that just added to the game's charm 😂
I wonder if they're trying to step away from the fact that PNF-404 is supposed be our world. Not that it isn't a world that was (is?) inhabited by humans, but it's not OUR world, if that makes sense, haha
i'm assuming it's because he only just dipped his toes into the 2 port! but dang that is a bummer to hear :( even as an outsider those were some of my favorite things about pikmin 2
@@peijichan2589 Its undoutebly just because itd be a gigantic pain and not worth it at all to renegotiate brand deals decades after the original came out.
The gap between Pikmin 3 and 4 is larger than the gap between 2 and 3... crazy how we perceive time. When Pikmin 3 came out it felt like the return of a long dormant franchise from my childhood. Pikmin 3 feels like it came out last year.
I have absolutely loved keeping an eye on twitter the past few days and watching people play pikmin for the first time. The reactions to certain things and pikmin doing dumb thing as pikmin do are so so good. It's so fun to see as a series veteran.
The fact that every Pikmin game, aside from Hey and Bloom, is on one console is insane.
I've always had an interest in the Pikmin games but never bit the bullet to play them. Since discovering Arlo's channel my interest grew more! I played the Pikmin 4 demo and decided to pre-order the game! I can't wait to play the whole series! Thanks Arlo!
i love at 4:58 like half his squad starts drowning but he cant tell and just starts fighting the bulbear
My friend got me a cameo last year and I still watch it. THANK YOU ARLO
Arlo has been pushing out videos like CRAZY and I give full props to all the hard work 👏👏
Every day is Arlo upload day!!
I can confirm Arlo's statement on the replayability of the first game. I'm on my fourth playthrough now, and it still has me captivated. I emulated it at first because the price compared to length had me concerned, and I still ended up buying it because it really is that deep.
11:36 i was but a small child when pikmin 1 and 2 came out but from what i could find online the standard price for a first party gamecube title was $49.90 pikmin 1 and pikmin 2 were both first party gamecube titles so not only are they both cheaper than when they launched even before accounting for inflation, but together they only cost 9 cents more than either did on original release. I have to give props to nintendo for their ethical handling of the pricetags
Hey Arlo! I never really got into Pikmin until they released the HD versions of these games on Switch, and now I'm addicted and bought Pikmin 3 and am eagerly awaiting 4. I'm currently playing through 2.
I remember when pikmin 1 first came out. My mother went out to buy curtains one day and came back with a gamecube and pikmin because she wanted to play it! Its why everyone in the family can speed run challenge mode but never wants to play bingo battle.
Waiting for September to get the physical release, while knowing you could just get them digitally and play now hurts a bit
That's how I felt when metroid prime remastered dropped. The good thing about it though was since gamestop in Ireland closed down, I got it for €28
Oh they ARE releasing physically? And its September!? Awesome, I gotta go check this out!
I got the physical copy of pikmin 1+2 for Christmas
2:40 Dolphin actually does have both a widescreen patch and a 60fps patch for both games. That's why emulating will still probably be my preferred way to play, but as far as official ways to play; These remasters are nice. More then anything I'm just happy that people can get a chance to enjoy the entire franchise on one platform.
Not to mention hd texture packs!
Yeah everyone should just emulate instead of buying any of the games
@@Millicentewhat if they want to support the series? Or play it on the go?

It's so wild after seeing these games hyped for years to finally understand how much people love this franchise, it really is one of those thing you just have to experience to understand
“I’ve never seen a company do that, retroactively” - The Last of Us Part 1 on PS5 would like to have a word with you.
I remember way back when, when we got the demo for Pikmin 3 remastered but the full version wasn’t out yet. That’s how I found out we were even getting a remastered version for 3, so I immediately downloaded it and began to enjoy it. Now, I had a copy of 3 for the Wii U, but I’d never played it, and I had never played either of the other 2 myself. But I had experienced them through other means (namely one Chuggaaconroy), and I still enjoyed what little the demo offered. My now fiancé happened to be watching nearby, and was curious as to what it was. After I showed him the yellow Pikmin you see with Charlie, he loved them so much that he downloaded the demo *immediately* and played through it with me.
He got the full version as soon as I told him it was out, and he was so happy (I couldn’t afford it at the time, and it actually convinced me to crack open my original copy and play through it instead). He loved the whole thing. He was just as hyped as I was about the official Pikmin 4 announcement, and even managed to surpass my own hype when he learned of the 1 & 2 port.
All this to say that Pikmin is a beautiful series and that sparks wonder in those that discover its bounty, and there’s no better way to experience that in its rawest form than the first 2 games.
Never seen a company retroactively put the "1."
Kind of true. The 1+2 package has become popular, with Tony Hawk 1+2, and amusingly, Find Mii 1&2. However, you are right that the 1 isnt usually there other than the 1+2 titling. Maybe they did it here to make it more clear if you want to buy them separately
Arlo definitely needs to stream or record live his first impressions of Pikmin 4. We totally need to see that!!!
Fun Fact: In Japan, Nintendo retroactively put the 1 on the first Zelda game cover when they re-released it after Zelda 2.
Here, they clearly did it for consistency since now they all have the colored flower; 3 Deluxe even got an updated logo for that same reason.
12:30 As someone who almost never replays a game, this is very true. I played my first pikmin game just about 6 months ago (started with Pikmin 2) and ive already played every game 3 times over minimum.
these games turned me into a pikmin fan, I gave them a shot since I could play the games in order, and fell in love.
I havent seen Arlo videos for like 5 years now until I looked up Pikmin again
As someone who played the new play control versions on the wii a week ago, WOW
This is SO much clearer visually. I mean, yes we are talking about the wii here in the end but i did not remember it being THAT blurry and washed out. The switch version just looks much much better. Which was to be expected but still, the difference between wii and switch are enormous!
Arlo loves pikmin. Arlo posts impressions chat accompanied by basically a Pikmin snuff movie. I'm now traumatised
I bought my switch in March 2020 and there were no pikmin games for it. Now there’s about to be 4 of them!
New Pikmin fan here. Thank you, Arlo, for your intoxicating obsession with not only Pikmin but also Metroid too
Can't wait for IGN to post their article on how to play the Pikmin games in order.
Had a weird anxiety attack due to some people and listening to this in the background helped me alot :) gonna definitely try the series out now
I feel like my cameo request inspired the opener…and it makes me happy! Lol
Can only imagine how he's gonna react to the demo
There's no multiplayer... cant play it with my friend now like we could in pikmin 3

@@fesoliniiOhh, that would be so cool, true! ^^
I also love that we can make new gadgets with the raw material, i have already been using the drone a ton. And the animations of the pikmin carrying the material is absolutely adorable!
@@tomdotcom7844 Are you sure that's not just the demo? I swear I remember reading an article about how 4 had multiplayer just like 3.
I have seen a retroactive addition of a 1 to a title: when John Wick was first made it was just an indie one-off essentially, and then it got extremely popular and became franchise so they eventually made the name John Wick Chapter 1 on the DVDs released past a certain point to match the naming convention of the sequels.
Dolphin does have a widescreen hack, but it causes constant pop in on the edges of the screen
You have seen that 1 added at least once. Nintendo already did it with Advance Wars 1 + 2 Re-Boot Camp.
I already have more hours on the Pikmin 4 Demo than Pikmin 1 HD. 😭😭😭
Now we just need the Nintendo world pikmin
I remember when I got a GameCube and Luigi's Mansion for Christmas in 2001. I loved watching the trailer for Pikmin that came with Luigi's Mansion.
I was so happy when I finally got to play it. I'm glad the series is still going strong.
I’ve never played a pikmin game and want to get into the series but my wallet’s too busy with super mario acid and the rpg remake for me to get them 🤣
tbh if you ever do make the leap go for the bundle, its 50 bucks for 1 and 2 together and that's a hell of a lot of game time and replayability compared to some of the alternatives lol
0:45, Guerilla did it with the Horizon Zero Dawn complete edition logo Logo to Make it Horizon I Zero Dawn to coincide with Horizon II Forbidden West (the I and II are in the line that separates Horizon from the subsequent words each game has).

Pikmin Fans have been eating really well these last couple of weeks!
I'm so happy to see new fans finally playing this amazing series!
I had just bought pikmin 3 deluxe a week before the direct, I’ve since finished 3+side story, as well as 1 and am now starting 2. (I had been exposed to the series sometime in the 2010s, watching Chuggaaconroy’s lps of 1/2. Had this pfp ever since.)
When Arlo saw this in the direct before pikmin 4 was talked about, Arlo was so happy lol
Triff is my dear brother from another mother, and I for one am happy to see everyone enjoying his flying Pikmin glitch clip .w.
"We now have all the Pikmin games on Switch"
and that perfectly summarizes how everyone feels about Hey! Pikmin.
Nice recovery at the end! They were carrying an item back to the ship but Arlo whistled them and had 99 out of 100 Pikmin at sundown so they didn’t die.
That being said, the middle of the video had that battle, where he accidentally threw an extra Pikmin during the death throe animation of the balloon creature but hit the sleeping enemy. Just let the Pikmin melee the balloon enemy to death when the health gets to a sliver. They stay on there for a bit. Waking up that big mouth creature that way is really tough because you got to prepare for them.
The second game is the best I agree. One time I started playing Pikmin 2 then I 100%’ed it without even intending to. It is that addictive!
Imagine telling myself in 2003 that you'll fall in love with a blue monster who absolutely loves Pikmin
What a wild ride the passage of faith is
What about the fact that they removed the product placements? It’s a bummer for me, finding random brands was a lot more exciting than « oh a bottle cap »
its funny how they chanced the Duracell since the licence ran out
Pikmin is one of the most "I've been meaning to try" series for me. I didn't get around to it on the GameCube or the Wii but I'm going to pick it up on the Switch. Third time's the charm.
9:06
Hey Pikmin watching this -_-
The branded items that you find in Pikmin 2 were what kept me playing that one, where no other Pikmin has managed to keep my attention. The Switch version swaps them out for fake ones. So depressing. I loved looking at them on the collectible page and changing the lighting around. And I especially loved how they misinterpreted the items purpose. I guess my Steam Deck has a date with a Dolphin. I saw a modded 4K texture pack for Pikmin 2 as well. It even has Linux support, so no workarounds are necessary.
Arlo: We now have all Pikmin games on Switch!
Hey! Pikmin: ._.
I remember one time when I was fighting the armored mawdad in Pikmin 3, I was trying to go the entire day without losing a single pikmin, and I was doing really good. When I was carrying the mawdad and the dragonfruit back to the ship, I noticed that I was missing a single pikmin despite all of the careful monitoring and precautions I took. I didn’t see any pikmin die, so wondering what happened, I watch the prerecorded video to see what happened. As it turned out, during the battle with the armored mawdad, a singular red pikmin got launched out of the arena, and died due to landing out of bounds. This was the first and only time this would happen, but I find it kinda funny how a pikmin could even get launched so far
I remember seeing screenshots of Pikmin 1 and having absolutely no idea what it was back in the day however Pikmin 3 was reminding me of Metroid prime with the way you have to explore the world and run around and get power ups aka the different colors. So if only I'd have known.
I truly don’t care about Pikmin, and will probably never play the game, but you’re passion for it is inspiring.
Pikmin 1 is much better on the Switch than on the GameCube or Wii, as it doesn't have the crushing glitch in the Switch port.
As for Pikmin 2, I don't like how they renamed the Gherkin Gate instead of finding an off-brand pickle jar lid and replacing it with that. But for me, the elephant in the room regarding the Pikmin 2 HD port is the fact that you can't seem to quick-build bridges anymore, making it a lot harder to 100% the Awakening Wood on day 5.
Thank you so much for all of the amazing content you make!
No way! I can't believe that Rare went ahead and placed Arlo in Kameo.
There's only one way this Pikmin extravaganza by Nintendo can be spoiled.
Hey Pikmin.
Pikmin 2 on Wii had the best controls in the series. That one feels fantastic to play!
Midway rereleased “Midway Arcade Classics” as “Midway Arcade Classics Vol1” when it got sequels. Theres another example of a retroactive name change
I played the pikmin 4 demo, and I have been sold. I am a new-found pikmin fan.
I Really wanna buy them but i keep reminding myself to wait for them releasing physical

We do not speak of it.
I'm so glad they finally re-released these 2. I've kept my gamecube plugged up for years just for them.
Recently started playing the Pikmin games for the first time…
I’m in love.
Now that we have all 4 Pikmin on Switch, would be kinda neat to see a Hey Pikmin remaster just to have the entire franchise on one console
I’m 51- LOVE playing Pikmin. Can play them over and over. Satisfying ❤️❤️

I appreciate having all these Pikmin games on Switch. I don’t personally have them, but the option is there and it’s great for introducing new people to these games.
Even though this exists, I still want to try them on the original console. I've only ever played them on the Wii. Wanna see how the original version holds up.
You have convinced me, good sir Arlo! Now that they are all coming to the Switch, I daresay I shall give this Pikmin thing a try when the physical 1 & 2 collection comes out in September.
I am personally waiting on the physical release of Pikmin 1+2 in September because as much as I love these games, I have always owned every mainline numbered Pikmin game physically.
Raise a candle for that one pikmin who got left behind at the end of the video.
