- Ty and I popped over the hill to Red Bluff, CA to fly with the guys. It ended up being a big turnout which led to some chaotic flying capped off with a night out at the cabin and a windy flight home. The "Bald Hills" were hands down some of the most fun I have ever had in my plane. Huge thanks to Jake Bunting and Tyler Christensen for hosting us!

Trent I grew up in Red Bluff. As you noticed out west of town(where it looked like you were during the day) there weren't any rocks on the ground, but where the cabin was on the East side there were tons of them. If you are up there again you will notice they are mostly porous volcanic rock. Mt Lassen and its neighboring mountains to the East used to be part of one huge mountain named Mount Tehama. It erupted several times and spewed rock and lava for miles and miles. All those rocks are the remnants of what used to be the mountain. The West side of the town was farther from the blast radius which is where there were few to no rocks out there. If you fly low enough you will see many of the fences in the area a build from those stones when the ground was being cleared.

That’s awesome to hear! That’s partially why I started making these. When I started flying I found that I was completely underwhelmed with the amount of flying videos out there. I thought Flying was so fun and wanted to do it all the time so when the weather was bad I’d be online trying to live it through other videos but I never felt like there could be enough videos, so I figured I should make some of my own! Haha
@@TrentonPalmer They must be the fake news! I never understand why a thumbs down, do not watch if you are a downer they must live in the basement and have no clue to what this takes! Your talent and those around you is more than unreal! Still will never understand why some jerks would thumbs down a video they watched that was this amazing. They must have no clue what Thrust, Weight and Drag is, ooooo and flying into a place where they would never go. Stay in your basement and stop with trying to make someone feel bad because you suck! God bless people whom have the guts and talent to make thousands feel, good for a few minutes in these times.

Having a bunch of friends that are like minded and who fly together, to me, is just about the ultimate enjoyment you could get. Nothing like a bunch of buddies doing this together. Lord, what a blast. THANK YOU for taking us out here along with you. It's almost like being there with you.

Trent your ground perception is outstanding!! Flying RC must have given you a great eye for height and speed. ALL your touchdowns are smooth and calculated. A friend of mine's younger brother had more flight hours than the instructors at the school he attended in the west. Every touchdown- the stall indicator beeped 2 inches from the ground. He was unbelievable--and so safe and aware of his surroundings. Congrats and keep up the techniques you utilize today. PEACE!!!! Bro

I just can't get over just how incredibly versatile those aircraft are with there incredibly short landing & take-off abilities as well as being able to land & take-off anywhere on any terrain... This video was the perfect definition of my dream for aviation. Going out with a group of fellow pilots and just having a blast without a worry in the world. Not too many people get that opportunity, which is what makes it important. My goal is to do something just like what you did in this video sometime in my life. Big thanks, Trent, for this video of my childhood stomping grounds. These canyons and hills will always be "home" no matter where I live. For a bit of history of this area, see _Ishi in Two Worlds_. Ishi walked out of Deer Creek Canyon, his ancestral Yahi Tribe homeland, in 1911 after his last fellow tribe member had died, fully expecting to be killed by the white man. He was the last "wild" pre-contact Indian in North America.

Totally loved this video, Your about two hours from me in Reno, and an hour and a half from me in Red Bluff. I have flown FPV up there and had a blast.
