This Bass Sounds HUGE // Dingwall Super PJ

- Official description from Dingwall:
The Super P is our interpretation of the Classic P-style bass. We deconstructed the original design, kept what worked, and improved everything else.
The look and feel lean toward the traditional we all love, but the tone and performance are everything you’d expect from a Dingwall. We downsized the scale 2” from our standard scale range. The results are great clarity on the B and E-strings with a big and warm quality to the D and G-strings.

I had no idea I was a Dingwall.
Thank you to your friend for letting you borrow this. There are so few videos on the super P, J and PJ.
Amazing! I love PJs
Merry Christmas!
Love these ! & I am a P bass guy but A P with a great low B hard to get this is it !!!would want to try one before dropping $$. Unless they come out with a offshore version.
Different Tunings? Lovely base!
Never been a fan of the "Dingwall sound" but I respect their innovation.
Same
ive had an NG3-6 for 4 years now. they are just a bit brighter and middy than normal, and that can be fixed, with a mid cut and treble cut. They have 4 pickup settings - but on YT you just hear one - the parallel one with darkglass distortion. They are excellent, all round basses. They dont really have a sound (like a Pbass)- they just have sounds they can make :)
I think if you checked out the Spector Dimension multi you'd find the best of both worlds if you wanted a multi scale. Also throwing Kiesel and Overload in there.
Its understandable, having more scale will make the sound more bright and "pockier". People having the standard bass sounds engraved on their heads its a standard reaction because of the countless records made.
I think of it like comparing both a Upright piano VS a Grand piano. The upright sounds darker, duller, has its charm. The Grand Piano sounds fucking bright, the low notes of it are spiky and clear AF. So, thats actually a Dingwall sound.
Sick bass, I'm looking to order a super P.
Can I ask, does the scale length of 32inch to 34.25 inch feel any different to a normal 34inch bass?
Thanks!
Thought I would get here before the “why doesn’t he play the B string” comments hit but I see I was late…. Listen everyone, it’s kinda silly to spam the B string for everything. If the example song calls for it then hell yes but this won’t be the last video. I will literally make time to play the B string on this bass for a few minutes so it will appease everyone 😂 better yet it will just be the B string and that’s it. We will see Ashley on this one in the future and who knows… maybe the channel will get their own Super PJ!!!! It’ll be B strings for EVERYONE!!!! Merry Christmas ya filthy animals!
Well its a bass vid on a 5 string bass, from a company that makes the best 5 strings, we all thought it would be pretty obvious - but maybe you forgot, because you were playing-it-like-if-you-scratched-it-you-had-to-buy-it. Haha
Have you put the tone full here ?? Because if it is a Fusion tone it cut a lot the midrange. The standard full tone is in the middle of the rotation.
The tone fusion is only on the P. The PJ has a standard tone pot
Been waiting for this one to become a production model, and now it's happening! I think they'll be out in 2025 IIRC. I was interested in getting a D-Roc when they were first released, but when I found out that the D-Roc is practically just a Combustion without the pre-amp and a different shaped body I became a bit disappointed. I would rather have seen them make a proper modern T-Bird with pickups that better fit that kind of tone. This Super PJ, and the Super P, at least has actual P/PJ pickups and a completely different sound than the Combustion and NG models. Probably the best sounding bass they make (IMO, ofc)! The Super J with the Super-Fatty pickups also sounds great, but I'm more of a P and T-Bird guy.
It's gonna be late 2024/ early 2025. I think it's only gonna be PJs, I hope the price is as low as the D-Roc, the NG is a bit more espensive
I was really praying Santa didn’t bring you a Thunderbird.
No, just a 1987 Gibson IV 😉🤘🏻
Ashley is a wonderful person & amazing player! Is The Bass Channel located in Las Vegas?
Yes, we are!
As much as I love wenge, that bass would look so killer with a maple board.
Once you said the loaner played with Filter, I laughed because I wanted to hear this bass play " hey man, nice shot". I think it would be massive with that song.
Dave has one of these basses on order, so we may be able to do that for you... eventually!
here is the part were he plays the b-string... 5:12
c´mon man. It´s a Dingwall... give us what we wanna hear!
Thanks!
I also use it at 9:05. I promise I’ll post a video of me just smashing the B string more! Or maybe we can get Josh or Jayme to? Anyways sorry it wasn’t ladened with B string shenanigans. It’s hard coming up with stuff on the spot and most of what I know doesn’t need the B string much. Some songs do but for whatever reason when it’s my turn to lay shit down my mind goes blank! Sorry and thanks!
@@Therealchuckbailey thanks but that is not my point. I think that you should show the sonic spectrum of any instrument that you are showcasing. If you demo a 6 string play something on every string in the higher and lower registers. I hope you take this as constructive feedback and not as personal attack. You guys doing great stuff! Cheers
@@crip665I was totally kidding. Trying to bring a little levity to it that’s all. I get why you wanna hear the B on a Dingwall. Thanks for watching!
I have a NG3 6 string I'm going to sell . The fanned frets on such a huge scale just didn't feel good to me , although I understand the purpose . Few small quality issues that shouldn't be on a 3000$ bass . I'm thinking the actual custom built in Canada models would be better , as well as a smaller scale length like certain models have
you spent 3k on an ng3 6 string?? why so much?
@@carlchameleon9847 they’re that much man like 2900 or something before tax
@@ellocalcrew613 dang I saw a used dingwall 6 3 pickup combustion on reverb for 2200, but looks like the new ones are like 2500-2800. yeesh
what quality issues may i ask, mine was fine?
Man, it's a bummer you threatened the pay wall. Seems like your content is improving
Threatened? 😂 is that what you think we did? Bobby… brother you got it all wrong. Subscribers for additional content isn’t a threat… it’s a means for us to justify the great lengths we go to bring something to our bass brethren worthwhile. Chris personally invests countless hours into pre and post editing, traveling to film the content, paying for parking ($30+ for the time on the strip… each time… each show.) the gear to film, the programs to edit, it’s a substantial cost my friend. I ask you… what other channels are doing what we are doing right now? I hardly think asking for less than a cup of coffee for that exchange is a threat… I don’t even think it’s enough tbh. Not like we are pushing everything to subscribers only… gas tanks don’t get filled on good intentions My man. Sorry you feel otherwise.
@@Therealchuckbailey I didn't stick around to find out. The 🤣 adds a real touch of class. Great job!
@@bobbyblair6862I thought so too. Thanks just the same
I don't think you played the B string one time...??
