Hi, You can do either. Either fixed line out (volume control disabled) into a pre-amp or enable the internal volume control and connect directly to a power amp or active speakers.
I am currently researching high end streamers to go with my new high end DAC the KTE Holo May DAC. I’ve been looking at offerings from Antipodes like the K50, Aurender N20, and Innuous Statement. I think this RS150 beats those high end streamers in terms of overall flexibility and functionality especially with that gorgeous full face touch screen display and the ability to stream video directly to your TV screen for showing album covers or live performances. It also has a youtube app which is fantastic. I’m wondering though how this compares in sound quality with those other high end streamers like the K50, Statement, and N20 for example. If this thing can come close to matching those high end streamers in terms of sound quality, then it would be a real giant killer because those streamers cost 3-4X as much and don’t offer as much functionality as this RS150 has.
Hello Brent, Thank you for watching (and subscribing?) to our channel. The Rose RS150 is a very impressive product and the ability to play 4k video locally stored or from UA-cam is a great feature. You are most welcome to visit us for a demonstration to hear the HiFi Rose range and more at ripcaster.
@@ripcastercouk I really wish I could do that, but I am in the USA and I am assuming that you are in the UK so that makes coming over for a listen a bit of a problem. :)
there is no point in a high end streamer if you have god (usb) dac. the streamer can be a cheap android TV Box, it just nets to support the max samplerate and bitdepth of your dsp. if a digital signal is received successful you cant improve it. Unless analog, analog signal transmission always has a lost of quality. in event audio we use digital stageboxes (adc). This way we dont lose any quality on the long cables carrying the signals from the mics to the mixing console and back to the amp. we can even splitt signal without any further lost of quality.
Not on the RS150 - see the full spec here ripcaster.co.uk/rose_RS-150 The RS250 does - see ripcaster.co.uk/HiFi_Rose_RS250A_Streamer_DAC_and_pre-amplifier The RA280 does - see ripcaster.co.uk/HiFi_Rose_RA280_Integrated_Amplifier
The ROSE RS150 is certified for Spotify Connect - you you can select the Rose for playback directly from the Spotify App on your smart device (Phone/Tablet etc). External WiFi gives better signal (due to the substantial metal case) and can be removed if you are using a wired Ethernet connection (less is more...)
Fantastic device. I switched to it from ML 5101.
Thanks for a simple na straight review. Did the company advise if they will launch power amplifiers / speakers also
Am sure you've experienced some great music with both the HiFi Rose RS150 and the Auralic Altair.
Which will you recommend, please 🤔 ?
Hi, the unit seems very impressive and high quality. Can you provide some details about the DAC. Thanks.
The RS150 uses the flagship Asahi Kasei VERITA AK4499EQ DAC.
Resolution : 32-bit
Sampling Rate : 8 to 768kHz
Native DSD Support : 22.5792Mhz ( DSD64, DSD128, DSD256, DSD512 )
VELVET SOUND Technology Supported.
THD-N : -124dB, Dynamic Range, S/N : 134dB
@@ripcastercouk Hi, thanks for your reply. How many AK chips does the Rose DAC have?
@@josellanj HiFi Rose only publish the main DAC chip model... not the complete component list.
@@ripcastercouk thanks!
Are these cool looking "analog" meters working when these is no preamp and 150b is connected directly to the power amp?
Yes - they follow ithe input 'source' regardless of the output used. They are very cool!
Hi there, wondering if you can plug the rs150 to an external preamp and then a power amp?, or is the internal preamp sufficient? Thanks

PS: most smart TVs support USB DAC. so you can use your TV as Player.

The RS150 can be set as a fixed level output (disable the internal volume control).
