Ahh yes, "My sweet pirate", my favourite song.
The title "My Sweet Pirate" sound actually really good
I didn’t realize this was a joke at first😂
Best song name since "Stairway to Batman" which is also a real song.
My sweet baby prirate.
I have a cat named Pirate and she is indeed very sweet. Black and really skinny with one bad eye, hence the name (not originally mine).
John may be the walrus, but George is the pirate
The walrus was Paul.
John was a dreamer (but not the only one) and The walrus was Paul
@@depressedprincess1227 Actually, John was the walrus, but then after some time he became John, and told his dear friends they just had to carry on, because the dream was over.
Ringo was the drummer.
@@weeaboogurra9275 and pete was the best
George took pirating songs to a whole new level.
Which is even funnier due to this exact song (My Sweet Lord) being sued for plagiarism.
My pirate lord oh captain Jack Sparrow is my lord😂😂🤣🤣
Hey, if Ringo can sing about octopuses, George is within his right to sing about pirates...
And strange new places

I like how what I assume to be the host walks up and George Harrison just pokes him as if to say, "Fuck off, I'm a Beatle."
😂😂😂😂😂👍🏻
Dude, do you know the host? It's Eric Idle :)
The “host” is a Monty Python actor
@@nickhueper2906 Yep, as stated above, it's Eric Idle
The host replied, "No you Fuck off, I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok, I sleep all night and I work all day!"
Can we all just take a moment to just appreciate George's immaculate hair?
Do you like being a sheep?
@@carlmarks8170 why yes, yes i do
I showed this video to my mom and this is basically what she said lol
he used Head and Shoulder for sure.
Dude was 27 years old here. You too probably had good hair at that age
You mean George’s PIRATED “My Sweet Lord”.
That reminds me of George Harrison's Lawsuit. Since someone claimed that it sounded a lot like "The Chiffons - He's So Fine"
@@Angglio - The judge agreed with the lawsuit and awarded the Chiffons (the studio, actually) damages. The judge however called it “Unintentional Plagiarism”. Not likely.
Jesus, oops, I just violated someone's trademark.
I- your phone please 😂
I don’t care if it’s pirated or not, My Sweet Lord is a million times better than He’s So Fine

George wears a smile that's says "I'm going to get in SO much trouble for this, but I don't give a damn."
the "host" walking up to him is Eric Idle a member of Monty Python lol it's staged but still great
@@MrKJ444 Even if it were real, he would be able to get away with it. No sane talk show host would have the balls to stop a Beatle mid song.

Eric Idles face was amazing when he realized he couldn't do anything to stop George's dream to become a pirate
Only a former beatle could get away with such a thing
Am I the only one who thinks Eric Idle looks a bit like Roger Daltrey
No one:
George: AHRRRRRR I LIKE TO BE A PIRATE
Yeah he can join the Somali pirate's
no "no one" pls
He's even got the looks and the accent for a pirate!

I was wondering if anyone would pick up on that ...
Its existence was unknown to this Harrison & Beatles fan till now. Thanks.
Kept very low key for some reason.
Same here
It’s a comedy show from the 70’s with Eric Idle after Monty Python ended, I think it’s called Rutland Weekend
This is the same show The Rutles came from. Brilliant stuff.
Kid: Mom can we get My Sweet Lord?
Mom: We have My Sweet Lord at home.
My Sweet Lord at home:

Which is just as good as the regular one
George is not only my favorite Beatle but he just might be my favorite human being

That would imply that some of the Beatles are not human

Some of you may not know that George was not only one of Monty Pythons biggest fans from their very beginning, but he financed one of their movies and became close friends with Eric Idle. Eric was at George’s funeral and spent time with him at his bedside while he was going through cancer. This whole skit was one big hoot for both of them to make as friends, not just coworkers or collaborators.
On a side note, for the Concert for George memorial concert in 2002 I’ve always felt Eric Clapton should have introduced Jeff Lynne to do My Sweet Lord, and Jeff secretly go into The Pirate Song. Only those of us who know this skit and we’re George’s closest friends would get it, and Eric would have died (in the funny slang way) if he could have come out, ask Heff what he’s singing, and Jeff poke him and keep going.
Thank you for that insight, very much appreciated.
George would have loved this.
The Beatles + Monty Python = The Rutles = Awesome 😍😁
Harrison loved Monty Python. He thought that the Rutles were hilarious whilst Lennon hated them and wanted to sue them for plagiarism. 😄
@@jchis9852 I love that George was so close with Phyton. He also saved and financed The Life of Brian. He was such joyous person :)
@@jchis9852 Nah John actually loved the Rutles.
@@jchis9852 John Lennon didn't hated
The Rutles..he liked what they did.
Matter of fact..When a news reporter asked Lennon that what is his opinion on the Rutles,John Lennon answered the question by singing Cheese and Onions (a song by The Rutles).
When John Cleese (I think) asked why George was giving money to them, he said "I want to see the movie."
I thought it was about the plagiarism case for “My Sweet Lord” but turns out to be a real pirate song. This is so sarcastic and hilarious.
I think the bit is also a reference to the lawsuit.
This is the most George Harrison moment ever

For context, George had dressed up as a pirate for a skit and all, but the host told him he had to sing, so the madlad did sing.
Why is this suddenly being recommended to me now? I mean I'm not complaining, but why?
Yes, it’s been on for a while but views were only a trickle, then whoosh! Someone must have stood on a button or someone in YT likes George Harrison.Anyway, I’m not complaining either.
It’s a calling from the sea, it’s time to join the crew

Because you listen to classic rock you stupid fuck
George comes not just when we want him but when we need him
The drop at 0:50 is legitimately one of the best I’ve ever heard. Not even joking.
I love how the band stops at first and then they just join in fully lmao
0:56 I can read the man’s lips. He’s saying “You were supposed to play “My Sweet Lord”
You just know if he was still alive, George would’ve been in pirates of the Caribbean
You think he would’ve been in it with Paul?
Ahhh, Georgie you're hilarious 😂🤭
This melody is My sweet lord ?
Yes. Eric and George played a trick on the band by telling them he was going to sing "My Sweet Lord", so they actually were confused.
@@mikewarns That’s genius lmao 😂
He sold his soul to the devil
To put this in context: "Rutland Weekend Television" was a sketch show on the BBC with Eric Idle and Neil Innes (and the show where the Rutles started). This episode has a running gag where guest star George has been booked to sing but all he wants to do is to act in a pirate sketch, an ambition frustrated until this takes place before the show's final credits.
You are correct
I want to be a pirate
A pirate's life for me

I was a big George fan at this time and stayed up late because he was the guest star on the show. He came on reight at the end and I actually thought we were getting a lve version. Fell about laughing!
The 14 people who disliked this were the people working for the BBC
This is a pretty hilarious way of getting back at the people who sued George over the melody for “my sweet lord”
That slide guitar is so amazing!
Roger Rettig, backed many big names in the 60s and appeared in Carry On films when they needed a band. Now lives in the US and recently retired from touring.
And you're still asking me why George is my favourite...
It’s even more funnier now that I think about it because ‘my sweet lord,’ as everyone would of known, was accused of copying ‘he’s so fine.’ So the fact that he’s singing a pirate-themed song, when pirated means reproducing work without permission, just makes me LOL
I have watched this an unhealthy amount of times
This is very crisp compared to the other clips I've seen of this, though it does fade out too early
Appreciate your comments.

He sings
He plays floor
But most importantly he is a pirate.
What makes it for me is the way George is acting like a naughty boy, glancing round as if he were expecting the producer to any second cut the power and studio lighting

The minute he comes In with the pirate voice is so jarring and unexpected, its amazing and always gets me.
George and his great sense of humour- just live him

"I didn't come here to sing. I came here to act!"
That’s gonna be everyone when The Beatles Get Back documentary series is released in November on Disney+
That will be one to watch.
In typical George fashion, he came back at them with the ultimate sarcasm. Well, done, Georgie boy. Stick it to them.
“All together now”
I knew he loved Monty Python but didn't know about this. Cool.
He financed near all of Life of Brian. He took a loan on his Friars Park to fund it, then made it back and much more. Just in case you didn't know.
Love the look of utter confoundment on that guy at the keyboard
Would've loved to see George play Captain Hook. Idk why, it just works.
I love how just two seconds after the other people playing instrument looked confused they were just like" oh so we're doing this now alright"
I can't explain how much I love him
Rutland Weekend Television is such an underrated gem, it bridged the gap between Monty Python's Flying Circus and Not The Nine O'Clock News.
