If you watch Maeven's video about his tag match, the first one for Punk at WWE, you will se that Maeven say that Punk was very focused on learn how to perform in that wrestling style. The BIGGEST takeaway about Ariel Helwani’s interview with CM Punk on the MMA Hour, was when Punk basically said, “There is NOT an NDA for something I did wrong.” Basically, he’s saying Kenny Omega, Nick & Matt Jackson, and other were the ones most definitely in the wrong after All Out (the Brawl Out incident).
It's so easy to connect the dots of that NDA. He finished the scrum, elite come barging in, there's some struggle, punk gets hurt, he tries to sue, they settle and pay but need the NDA signed, then leave punk alone to handle all the medical, no contract with punk for 6 months, punk wants to quit, Tony builds collision as a solution and won't let punk off his deal. It's crazy how much he said without saying it. It's cool that there was only one nda from the sound of it because he went through a lot in that interview.
Except Eric Bischoff you sir are incorrect about Punk not "moving the needle" in AEW. There has only been 1 person in AEW history who has moved their ratings consistently up by a few hundred thousand (at the very least) and his name is CM Punk. Point blank period, check the numbers from his time there until now.
28:18 that kind of defense for Dave is missing the point. Technicalities are one thing (I.e. being wrong about a piece of wrestling trivia). But reporting about backstage attitudes or about talent without checking sources, that’s not a journalist.
This has been hiding in plain sight since day one. Tony is not an enforcer. He’s not a person to take control. Punk saying this isn’t surprising. How is this not obvious to anybody watching AEW? Bischoff has said literally everything that Punk said since the jump.
Tony could go full "NWA Samhain" and just break out an eight ball and just start motorboating it on stage, and t5he dubbalos would somehow go to the most preposterous lengths to justify it.
14:39 "the ratings are stable" Only an f'ing mark would be in that much denial. I hate to say it because I respect Conrad as a businessman, but that statement is almost beyond being in denial. Ratings are supposed to grow, if they stay stagnant or go down, then the show isn't sucessful, that's how television works.
I hate Punk so much, but he did bring in people to AEW, then many of those people left after he was fired. F CM Punk! He’s an ego maniac who is over hyped.
Also gotta say I love the roast of Meltzer here lol 😂 he’s nothing more than a mark and a con man that people treat like an expert when he isn’t. Conrad likes him because they both have some fooled they know wrestling and what goes on inside and they don’t.
@83weeks Eric, audio note for your tech guy: your sound breaks up a lot, especially when you talk a bit lower. I’m imagining the compressor must be on high. Just quick FYI. Love your stuff 🙏
I just don’t agree with the punk won’t move the needle. All the proof shows he absolutely did both at aew and wwe. Aew was relevant before, he helped build MJF, he broke ticket sale records, and Aew received a deal based on punk being there
Punk trashed the company while sitting next to the owner and eating a muffin, then knocked out one of the Vice Presidents of the company. The dude is a legend. CM Punk is my hero. C M PUNK! C M PUNK! C M PUNK!
Opinions are one thing, everyone has one and can express as they feel. Nothing wrong at all with that. "Not moving the needle" however comes under facts since the ratings, live attendance, merch sales etc. is actually reported. And Punk clearly moved that needle by a very noticeable margin that is even clearer now after he left AEW.
"CM PUNK interview PROVES I'm *RIGHT* about AEW!" I literally just said this to my bro, an hour before this video dropped, after we discussed the interview. 100% truth.

He goes for low-hanging fruit and people thing he's "telling it like it is." Now he's low-energy and slow but we're hoping for, what - a big main event with him at some point?
@@saltedllama2759You typed a novel of bullzhit, Punk is a professional that was forced to work with kids dumaz

Poor Bajazzo.
Eric is wrong about punk not “moving the needle.” They lost at least a quarter million people since he’s been gone .
Not to mention believable wrestling without any human Samurai Pizza Cats.
Once again, all this was caused by Tony’s lack of leadership and management ability
MJF to Tony K: Here's the thing boss - you've got a position of power in a wrestling company, when the only position you should be assuming, is behind the guard rail with all of them (fans).
[A few moments later]
MJF: [looks straight down the camera lens] Tony (Khan), I want you to fire me - YOU FUCKING MARK!!!! FIRE ME!!! FIRE ME!!! [mic cuts off]
Feels like Punk answered everything so he could never be asked about it again.
Easy E just spitting facts.
Eric has said this for a long time - then Punk said it almost exactly the same.
@@83weeks I know I changed my post hahaha...
Petty Punk most likely sait it the same way just cause he jnows it would grind HuggerBoy Tony @83weeks
Corny was right.
He’s always right
Don't know if you listen but Bischoff has been saying it all along too. I love Cornette most of all and Bischoff is the only Conrad podcast I listen to. If not for Eric, I couldn't stomach it.
Corny is always right when it comes about aew
@@paulbrown9311 and Russo as well. That's very telling. When Corny, Bischoff & Russo are all on the same page and have been for years on AEW.
@naturallawman2965 Russo was right about Meltzer and the smarks. He's been saying it for over a decade.
Cornette votes for Brandon, so no he's isnt always right. He's an idiot.
The highest ratings and biggest gates in AEW were with Punk on the roster. To say he didn't move the needle just doesn't ring true. Business is down after his departure. Same company minus Punk = less viewers and lower attendance.
Bankrupt Bischoff can't do mathematics.
Bischoff and Cornette vs Meltzer and Khan in a tag match is my dream match
Conrad comes running in with a chair to help Meltzer and Khan. Misses Cornette with the chair shot and hits his head of the chair when it bounces off the top rope. Conrad falls down like humpdy dumpdy and we all laugh.
Dave would give himself 5 stars lol
Conrad attempting the hilariously aborted run in oh yes😆
@@alesitercrimson24Conrad and running should not be in the same sentence.
If Cornette was ever going to bother to get into a ring again and actually fight someone it would be to smash Russo and Meltzer
Hahaha Eric can be so creative when cussing Meltzer 🤣
I've learned to live Bischoff infinitely more since he's been out of the business. He's super smart and very funny if you get his humor.
"the ratings are stable"
yeah, Conrad, i guess flatlining is technically a stable condition
Take my upvote and get out of my sight, you brilliantly incisive bastard.
Conrad vs Brian Last….. book it now! That debate would be pure comedy!!
Speaking of BL….and Corny and Meltzer, Alvarez, Samperveve (host/co host w all these except Corny) BL’s little news pod….why does nobody put those pieces together as a big work, I don’t understand.
How big a moron would BL be if you took away his Google and Melter’s newsletter.
The miniature guild are far more interested in chasing Meltzer's star ratings than building up viewership & ratings.
Punk is a verbal nine inch nail that AEW doesn't need. Mass grave.
Not just Tony made some cuts, these were the very first AEW releases. Not just run out contracts or firings with cause.
he signed enough early on that he would have to make cuts sooner or later
Jesus, Conrad eats Tony Khan/Dave's corn the longways.
Longways lol
😂😂😂
So does bryan alvarez to 😅😅
And after hearing the CM Punk interview, Eric's heart grew four times that day.
Brrrruuuhhhh🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
And he didn't even need the stuff that HHH did for it ...
The young bucks did a victory lap in the ring.
CM Punk did a victory lap with that pipe interview.
Ha.
Playing a major role in pushing pro wrestling to be the hottest it’s been 2 decades is a victory lap around fucking Saturn, punk is a goat
"It's just a wrestling exhibition, with an angle as an excuse." This statement perfectly sums up AEW.
Such an honest interview with Punk, he clearly confirmed everything Eric has said and what we all believe
he seems at peace with his life which is great to see and see him in a better place, its no coincidence wwe have brought Punk and Cody in after AEW and look at them now - different leagues altogether wwe vs aew
AEW is a example of you can't help people that don't want to be helped
AEW is an example of Carnies helping themselves to a mark's money.
Punk is right all along
The cuts yesterday are like Tony heard what Punk said and had a tantrum "Right, I'll show him who's not a boss! Get me my RED crayon!".
It's kinda sad.
Everything Tony does is pathetic, really. Purely reactive with no self-awareness of which to speak, whatsoever.
Eric cooking Meltzer 😂
Bet conrad is going to mark out to aew like always 😁
It's so funny how people hate on Conrad. But the whole time is so clear that you guys are so jealous of him that it's sad if he really was a mark for AEW. He would not be doing this podcast about this subject
@@handsomelee9568You know that it’s possible to objectively dislike Conrad’s schtick without being “haters” or “jealous”, right?
Those are very lazy retorts to fans who thought it was a breath of fresh air when Eric posted that video of just himself talking about Tony Khan, and would like more of that.
More of Eric himself without Conrad interrupting and being an AEW apologist.
I don't hate Conrad and nor am I jealous of Conrad, just his southern drawl and fanboying AEW is annoying. I could listen to Eric talking for hours but Conrad voice and opinions give me ear fatigue.
@mr.green2341 do you dislike NBC because they have commercials? That seems to be the hate is he has too many commercials. Maybe I am missing it so educate what is the shtick that everyone is disliking?
@mr.green2341 sorry I replied to soon and didn't press see more. So Conrad's issue is he is an "apologist" so he speaks to positively about AEW on HIS network. So let's say someone called you an Eric apologist, would that be fair?
It’s funny. Punk left WWE because he hated the structure in place there. Then he left AEW because he realized why WWE has the structure it does.
The culture and structure of WWE is way different to how it was 10 years ago.
It's also funny that you have forgotten that was a decade ago, lol!
i said it once, i’ll say it again; if you leave the bingo halls and high school gyms for the big time arenas, start earning the big time money, you may think you miss the times when it was “real” but go back and see how much you really enjoy the big time when you can’t get a shower, your bag has been rifled through and you’re paid a hotdog and a handshake…. you never missed it, you’re romanticising the past
@@nickchivers9029 Particularly after the buyout. I doubt Punk comes back if Vince is still head of the company.
I dont think Punk didnt like the structure wwe had, I think he didnt like to be second fiddle under other superstars. If you watch Maeven's video about his tag match, the first one for Punk at WWE, you will se that Maeven say that Punk was very focused on learn how to perform in that wrestling style. Punk seems to do better when he has some discipline around him, but also can keep leeway to some improvisations.
Everybody is waiting on Cornette’s response, I was waiting on Bischoff’s response 🔥
EB continues to provide us with great perspectives and experienced insight. He’s underestimated and I gotta think he will improve once he’s doing his solo podcasts more regularly without his “co-host”

Oh no, not Conrad! Please can Eric do all of his shows on his own!?
Why is it that Sting, Danielson, Moxley, Jericho, Copeland, Christian, and others have no problems? I thought Punk was fair in the interview but why can’t he take any responsibility at all? Why is it always 100% everybody else’s fault? I’m with Punk on Jack Perry though
AEW marks really do like claiming everyone who calls out the company’s lack of professionalism is just bitter cos they can’t get a job like corny and Eric couldn’t have bled TK dry
Smh fans like you are my needed in the space of wrestling
Even russo agree with bischoff and cornette when it comes to aew
To be fair: Punk did move the needle abput 300k by himself in tv ratings, which isn't bad given that it makes up 1/4 - 1/3 of their overall.
And 500k for raw Monday
I think this was the stuff that cody didnt wanna talk about. He wanted the company to have a real leader and he still had stuff to do in the ring and it wasnt gonna happen there. Its all connected.

The BIGGEST takeaway about Ariel Helwani’s interview with CM Punk on the MMA Hour, was when Punk basically said, “There is NOT an NDA for something I did wrong.”
Basically, he’s saying Kenny Omega, Nick & Matt Jackson, and other were the ones most definitely in the wrong after All Out (the Brawl Out incident).
It must have explained a lot for Ariel ‘if I have to hear one more ‘uh actually um well I can’t answer that..’ Helwani 😆
Tony isnt a boss and Conrad isnt a host.
Conrad is a host who needs the help of an exorcist.
I wish this would have been a longer video. Great stuff!
Conrad chill let EB talk 😂
Eric is loyal. His problem with Tony started when he took shots at Ted Turner. His problem with Punk started when he took shots at Hulk Hogan.
Yup. EB will ride Hogan's nuts until his dying days.
Conrad needs to stop defending Tony Khan it's so annoying
He defends AEW because Ric Flair works there now, and Ric Flair is Conrad father-in-Law. Conrad is married to Meagan Flair. Conrad is a tool.
Not even 3 minutes in and this AEW mark Conrad already defending Tony
Can’t wait for this one
Cornette was ON THE MONEY about this since DAY ONE. LETS TALK ABOUT IT
14:39 "the ratings are stable" Only an f'ing mark would be in that much denial. I hate to say it because I respect Conrad as a businessman, but that statement is almost beyond being in denial. Ratings are supposed to grow, if they stay stagnant or go down, then the show isn't sucessful, that's how television works.
"We see at least 10 people released from AEW, that's kind of some boss behavior" Whaaaat?! Conrad, it's not that deep. Every common boss can do that!
Yet Conrad shits all over WWE when they do the exact same thing. Hypocrite
It definitely proved you are right about aew I don’t think punk told any lies in that interview I hope you guys can see things in the same way

I'm sure Conrad cried himself to sleep on his Tiny Khan wrestling buddy the night after Punk's interview.
I would say that Punk did move the needle for them.
Look how much everything has gone down since his departure
Look at Conrad's mannerisms everytime Eric finishes scorching AEW lol.
He’s not used to do anything other than wiping his mouth of aew “juices” and selling people shitty predator loans
Get rid of Conrad.. He is abysmal.
Conrad owns the whole fucking thing.
Eric is wrong about punk not moving the needle. Punk lifted merch, gate, ratings, and buzz the entire time he was in AEW

I just don’t agree with the punk won’t move the needle. All the proof shows he absolutely did both at aew and wwe. Aew was relevant before, he helped build MJF, he broke ticket sale records, and Aew received a deal based on punk being there
And hows that show been doing since he left 😂

Opinions are one thing, everyone has one and can express as they feel. Nothing wrong at all with that.
"Not moving the needle" however comes under facts since the ratings, live attendance, merch sales etc. is actually reported. And Punk clearly moved that needle by a very noticeable margin that is even clearer now after he left AEW.
I don’t feel bad for AEW for being in the pits rn because their fans are so unlikable.
