The big golden arc spell is incredibly good with max cast speed. Id consider throwing that on as a low risk option with a large hitbox that you can combo into for good damage.
@@SoI_Badguy I'll test it out! Hoping to discover more ways to frame trap or true combo spells into each other, the arc will probably help with frame trapping
@@TubularBellsRequiem6531it basically means forcing your opponent into doing something with a lot of end lag so they are "trapped" in the animation, allowing you to land a guaranteed hit. A common example is roll catching - rolls have a lot of end lag so if you force someone to roll and then attack, you "roll catch" and land a guaranteed hit. Slow moving spells like the large golden arc allow you to cast, and then run up to enemies or cast a second spell and hopefully, while they dodge the golden arc, they get stuck in the roll animation so you could land some other attack. In other words, they get "frame trapped" by rolling the golden arc and eat a hit from something else.
Something interesting with Golden arc is that it can hit through corner like glintstone arc as long as the middle of the arc doesn't hit anything making it good for hosts camping
@@VonSchnitz ohh I understand. That's smart, I never thought of that strategy but that makes sense. Baiting out a certain reaction/animation and punishing said animation. I'll have to keep that in mind next time I do pvp. Thanks man! Love your vids
Giant Golden Arc -> Catch flame -> stone of gurrang -> wrath from afar -> miquellas light. obviously much better for 1v1's but this is the sickest combo in the game in my opinion
sounds like an awesome combo, but that can be done on a pure faith build better. This staff is moreso to mix sorceries and incants together, otherwise I'm better off going pure faith or pure sorcery for better damage scaling
I still think scepter of the all knowing should've been a catalyst for everything. It would make so much sense considering Gideon's whole deal. Oh well. Great video :)
It's great to see the staff of the great beyond get some love, also if you're intrested in spell true combos the channel cadmansons has some videos showcasing int/fth combos
@@VonSchnitz i forgot to mention that for this build it would be useful to utilize not only spells that combo but the best spells in general like fire serpent for medium range presure or swift shard for finishing opponents
Mass of putrescence is really good with so many things it's hard to pick. The super delayed damage box makes it so easy to combo into other spells. Miriam's vanishing also does well with moonblade and piercer because people panic roll. You can also combine boulder with golden arcs because of the quick cast speed allowing for a fast follow up and a coll catch at the right range or even true combo. If you want you can follow up the arcs also with orb for 3 quickly casted projectiles. I personally have had a good time comboing vortex of putrescence into fortissax spears because it traps them close to you if they end up inside. You can also use blade of ansbach for easy distance closing if you're doing a melee mage bug it's easy to poise through
@@HumanThe22nd I tried vortex with fortissax spears already and liked it a lot! Will have some footage of that for next time! Appreciate all the other tips! I need to try some boulder combos
Playing seemless coop w/ a buddy and practically explored every inch of the base game and were about half way though the DLC. Sitting a level 216 rocking an intelligence/dex/faith build myself. 80 int 45 faith 40 dex. It's been a blast to play with. Essentially a spell sword. I tend to use a smaller melee in my main hand (swap weapons based on enemy) and staff/seal in off hand.
I've been trying this build out lately. I am noticing a few things. A: The Jumping Is Real. Surprise attacks work very well. Lot's of ways to take people by surprise, potentially knocking them off ledges and such. B: Close range is tricky. Most of the spells/abilities in this build require you to be close, and while you have good poise, you will be easily knocked out of a lot of attacks by anyone who is being persistent. You really have to wait for perfect timing, and pay attention unless you swap to an entirely different primary weapon. C: Skill curve. You have to be able to switch stances and spells very quickly. It is fun, but if you aren't good at micromanaging a lot of strategies you will suffer against anyone with a really competitive/dedicated build. D: Really good when tag teaming. This build really benefits from having back up. You can easily go between giving ranged support, to applying CC pressure yourself. If you have someone at range, you can rush in with more confidence behind your big AOE attacks. If you have a bonk-buddy, then you can easily keep pressure on the opponent and control ground. Overall initial opinion. This build is a lot of fun. I'm gonna experiment with other possible main weapons and talismans, but the core concept is pretty cool. I love Rellana's Twinblades, and the Greatsword of Damnation is super satisfying when you get it's Ash of War. It is very difficult to micromanage all the spells, but really you can add or subtract things as you like. The vanishing spell+Gravity Missle is pretty strong, but hard to pull off in a pinch when under pressure. LAST LAST Opinion. That Greatsword of Damnation Ash of War, followed up by Messmers Orb.....that is a killer. I wanna say you have an almost 90 percent chance at landing it if you don't charge the Orb. If you do, you've probably got about 60-70, and that depends entirely on where they roll in recovery, and if they are fast enough to run beneath you. If they do, then you will waste too much distance turning around, and almost land right where you started. It's super fun though to pull off.
To me the main advantage of great beyond relative to other int/faith builds is interesting off hand weapon synergy, since you don’t need to use both hands for catalysts. To that end, my personal favorite is a colossal sword to have a hyperarmor option and become very scary up close, or something fun like bastard’s stars. Sadly I don’t think there’s ever a scenario where great beyond staff makes sense as a pure caster as compared to going Golden Order Seal and Azur’s
@@unusualmage8709 yeah that's why I tried to make good use out of the golden Crux, it worked out pretty well I'd say. The pure spell damage with this staff is quite lackluster though
Nice build man. I suggest using gravitational missile as a safe zone to cast or heal since you can walk into it but they can’t. You can also charge it to increase the amount of bursts it has before the final one, although I don’t think it increases its damage.
Greyoll’s roar might also be really good if you invest a little in arc since it has a larger hitbox then the bear roar and lowers the targets attack and defense. Just a thought though
Maybe not the best for PvP, but a spell chain I like is any of the Phalanx sorceries (mainly Greatblade Phalanx) into Collapsing Stars. The idea being that you set up Greatblade Phalanx, and then use Collapsing Stars to pull them in and trigger the Phalanx (and hopefully stagger them). And because they're shook from the gravity pull, they can't really dodge the Phalanx. Results may vary, but I keep a Misericorde on hand, just in case.
I’ve found wrath of gold/placidusax to be quite good after Miriam’s vanishing. Also seething chaos + grav missile + microcosm is just a comical amount of explosions
Acient death rancor, ranni dark moon, and cannon of haima, if one skull break The poise, The moon hits, The enemy Will roll or use flash, and The cannon finish
The helm of night, night’s cavalry armor, gauntlets of solitude and greaves of solitude with the bull goat’s talisman gets 88 poise and is in my opinion drippier than your combination
Ive also been using a staff of the great beyond build, my favorite spell setup ended up being miriams vanishing, catch flame, carian piercer, stone of gurranq, gravitational missile, messmers orb, glintblade trio, impenetrable thorns and either lightning spear or glintstone cometshard Im not really a pvper so cant confirm if this will truecombo on players but stone gurranq into gravitational missile either combos or is a good followup to double stone combo, last 3 spells seems to also combo together very nicely Theres also a bunch of other combos and synergies in this setup, maybe give it a try some time!
does this work well in PVE? If so, are you still using a similar setup with spells and incants, or which ones would be more PVE specific? such a cool build and with the new staff i cannot wait to try this out. Thanks for the build, loved it!
Unfortunately schard of Alexander currently doesn't buff holy damage ashes of war, it would only buff the first part of the ash of war which is bugged of itself sometimes the damage of the actual impalement registers sometimes only the thorn explosion does, it would be better to use the dagger talisma as it is considered a critical hit both the physical damage and the holy
@@mikevolg6418 hard to say one or the other is "better". This build has a way higher skill cap, and way more versatility to be creative.
