Hey so I don't remember exactly what I did, but I managed to get the dark iron staff way back in like chapter 2 of my ng+ playthrough so you don't have to go all the way to the chapter 5 secret area to get it

The spear your get from Erlang is INSANE. Especially when paired with the relic that has your clones mimic your special abilities - you get to shoot a TON of spears lol
@PANCAKEPAP1 yeah, I also use it as projectiles if the boss is out of reach. Still does decent damage. Also, foreseeing the enemy in this stance is just way too satisfying. I'm at ng++ and it still humbles all bosses

I can see how using the mythical Ruyi Jingu Bang would be a must for anyone who knows the significance of this story, but especially those that might have grown up with it as a part of their culture. :)
A cool thing for min/maxing is that the dark iron staff retains base damage from when it’s equipped. So after equipping it you can switch from max defense gear to max damage/crit gear for huge stats
It is worth mentioning that the two spear staff's hidden buff. The heavy attacks will break the light attack moves. Heavy follow light has to finish the light animation with all other staff. Only with the two spear staffs does the heavy following light go out the right way. When you are using the two spear staff, see-through is much, much, much easier.
Exactly. How nobody else is mentioning this is insane. Not just varied combos but also dodging immediately cancels light attack animations with the spears.
I noticed instantly when i unlocked the first spear that see throughs were so much easier to time and pull off. Animations are way tighter and can and shorter, i was able to resolute strike almost on demand.
before i got a hang of the game and started min-maxing my build, the golden loong staff was a lot of fun, the shock went crazy with pluck of many. then i realized how much better smash stance is lol.

Just look at Wu Longs different armor sets, ability’s, while the game itself was definitely worse. Its build verity was so much better and interesting that I did play new game + there just because I wanted to try them out. In Wukong when you get the final armor you are just retarded for not using it and handicapping yourself. Every piece has bonus stats that no other armor have. Personally I see absolutely no reason at all to play new game +… Killing the same bosses wearing the same items ? Nha I’m good.
@@coltizz respect the opinion but i personally feel there are lots of viable options, yaksha set, bull king set, gale guard set, pilgrim set, you can build around anything imo, just depends on how you want to play. I will say once you get the jingubang there’s not really an on par option until ng+, but i personally love ng+ in every game. Syrobe said it perfectly on stream the other day, it’s like a victory lap once you beat the game and can just let loose. Everyone plays differently tho at the end of the day

@@brendodo9319 My memory was that each chapter rewarded the player with an item for completing side quests that help with final boss. Chapter 1 (Fireproof Mantle), 2 (Wind Tamer), 3 (Spellbinder), 4 (Weaver's Needle), 5 (Bishui Beast Staff)
It makes sense story wise why you need to do the game 3 times (full power relics = full power wukong) but tbh… 3 secret endings…. That’s ridiculous you should just have a permanent 4th stance if you wear most of / the full wukong outfit. Maybe with a small skill tree
I'll even say that, wukong stance should be there in NG+ if you get the secret ending flat out. Fuck life saving strand, give me the wukong stance skill tree. And if you get all relics thrice, just give me the great sage moveset man. Like if you beat Erlang thrice, dawg, you're already good at the game. Might as well make you stupidly overpowered. I mean who tf is complaining anyways. I modded that in and it's so goddamn fun.

@@mohams151 sage has a lot of intuitive timings, though. And less complicated combos than Erlang. Both of them are fine once you get them down, but Erlang, to me is harder than Sage because Sage can mostly be dodged by just looking at the color of his staff or sound cues very consistently.
The tri point spear is very underestimated imo. The best part of its special attack is not the buff itself but the fact that it's fast attack with many, many hit counts. When combined with the golden set, it charges up Qi like crazy, enabling you to do spirit skill in higher frequency. And more spirit skill = more focus = more special attack = more Qi = MORE spirit skill, that's not even counting the attack buff that the golden set gives you upon using spirit skill🙉🙉🙉
I was dancing on yellow loong with this combo. Set my ring of fire and let the dance begin. If he's feeling frisky I just pop my rock solid. Non void and wind tamer. Untouchable.
the spear of erlang is insane but paired with the skill that consumes all your mana to give you a damage boost, and with the spear it becomes the best cause the changed moveset and the spear throws
The dark iron staff technically can be obtained early ng+....you just had to have skipped crafting multiple pieces of the bull king set/use only 2 pieces of bull horn. That way you can instantly start NG+ and craft the weapon.
That's what I thought, I crafted it right away. I just did the helm and left the others, since the full 4 peice bonus didn't seem amazing to me. You can't really trade in this game. (Until new game plus and pluck of many combo)
Thanks for this. Rocking the Dark Iron Staff since NG+ Chapter 2. It goes marvellously with the leg and arm pieces of the Bull Horn set that gives it plenty of defense. Add the mask and chest piece of the Pilgrim set for increased speed and the whole NG+ experience is amazing. Super enjoyable. Never picking up plants any more is a big part of that too !
I have weapons that are below these weapons on this list. I just got the game a week ago. Do I need to beat the challenges for them? Are they even worth the struggle?

Adept spine is easily my favorite due to its flexibility and synergy with pretty much any build type. That being said I pretty much agree with all your insights on the other options in that tier.

“That Boss” in chapter 4 has been a menace for me for two days, so I’m trying to finish the Loong quest line to atleast get some more power before fighting them again
For the ppl struggling with the Yellow Loon boss: Use the thrust stance, don't stay too close nor too far, stay somewhere in the middle (1 full Wukong height from your head to his legs) - reason is when you are either too close or too far he will be aggressive, when you're in the middle he will just walk towards you. Charge the attack up to 3 times and blast him, it will take some time but be patient, when you see him charging his attack, stop yourself from charging and focus on dodging, you will have to dodge first 2 attacks while gaining ground between him (try to get the same mid point distance again). Otherwise he will do a full combo of about 5-6 dodges required. When you drop him to half health he will start to dodge your charge immediately with thunder jump, when I see him do that I start to charge the attack to 2 focus points and then blasting him, it seemed it worked better then - it wouldn't trigger the thunder jump as much. Or it could be that he always thunder jumps away 2 times in a row and after that you can hit him few times (after some time he will use the thunder jump again), I was able to hit him with 3 focus point charge from time to time, although 2 FP charge was more effective once below half HP. This strat worked for me, hopefully it is clear enough and it helps someone. I will explain more if needed in the comments. Edit - I also used No skill spell that boost your attack 2x but removes other spells
haha bro literally what my strat was when I beat him a couple days ago I was stuck for hours then I just started sitting in fire circle and staggering him before big combos
What a trash guide. Way too complicated. The trick is just to summon your clones early, use cloud step to delay the fight and summon the clones twice in the fight. Wind tamer and whispering wight stops his weapon charge.

ik im 2 months late but you can stunlock most bosses for an extremely long time using the tri point staff by using light attack until you get the move where you stab them many times (unless you see the enemy start to attack then skip to next step) then press heavy attack twice for the sword shooting move (which stunlocks all enemies as far as i have tested) then immediately after pressing the heavy attack button, repeat this process until you dont have focus points left. also its easier to do tactical retreat with the spears.
Not that I'd use the Visionary Centipede staff, but I guess it would synergize decently with the "super secret" Venomous Armguard the Venom Daoist gives you in Chp. 4, at the expense of his arms. These armguards inflict Poison Base upon landing a critical hit, and the staff gives 10% crit chance, so sure. I unlocked the Golden Loong before finishing Ch.4 and oh boy, what a weapon! I am a smash stance lover and I still use the smash stance. The 108 base damage is a big jump! I am not "forced" to use the pillar stance, but when I build up to 3 focus points I can simply switch to pillar stance and unleash the heavy. This special heavy attack seems to stun almost every boss that has had the misfortune of standing in my way since, and I take full advantage of the lightning debuff when switching back to smash stance. Your description of the Stormflash is hilarious.. "And...and...and...and..." Best run on sentence ever. lol
I appreciate the fact that the developers made WuKong’s staff one of if not the best staff, I mean it just makes sense and is so nice to use in new game plus (even as a bull king set enjoyer)

Jingubang all the way. In the lore, it is Wukong's favorite. In game, It has critical chance boost, cooldown reduce, attack boost, and 4th attack no longer depletes. What else can you ask tho
I would put Tri in higher tier on certain occasions. If you combine it with with Serpent Scale Set Armor it will deal a ton of damage, because you could deal light attack finisher much faster and reliable with the "Firce Thrust". The problem is you have to be on water arena to unlock its true potential. Well it will help so much fighting the Final Boss
29:09 actually, if you didn’t do the chapter 4 secret area’s scorpionlord, you have to wait until ng+ chapter 4 is completed or go do the scorpionlord in the secret area’s to get enough sky piercing horns.
Good to see the classic Jingubang get some love and appreciation. It’s probably my favourite staff and the wukong set is probably my favourite armour set too. I’ve messed around with other staves and yeah they can be extremely powerful but they aren’t half as iconic. Some may see it as boring but sometimes you can’t beat simplicity.
The tri tip spear is so insane tho, you can spam the varied combo during almost any boss fight and kill them from half… no other staff has that kind of power imo.
Was gonna go for the true stance until you said it has to get activated and goes away after 60 seconds. Insane to me to not just give it permanently after all that work to get it. Very sick video!!
Kang Jin staff goated. Carried me through most of chapter 3 and early chapter 4. Currently in Ng++ trying Yaksha king set with dark iron staff, wind tamer vessel, wandering eight, 3 defense curios and one mana increase curios plus spellbinder. Not an extensive tester but it seemed funny to max attack while “increasing damage reduction” from -30%. Also using life saving strand bc hahah funny. Fyi life saving strand procs on your transformation(I’ve only been using Azure Dome so idk if life saving strand resurrects anything else) and then it still works on me(at least i think i haven’t tried cuz everyone has died after taking 2 azure dome beatings plus a beating from me
nice,, heard you talking about this .. been watching your one shot streams .. i managed to get 95 percent damage buff earlier.. used the armour with the 25 buff.. then the potion with 30 percent buff on last sip.. plus revive another 30 percent then the relic perk when you cast a spell another 10 percent.. helps a lot with my one shot attempts :)
This is a super cool tier list! 🐵 It's interesting how some weapons feel way better when you get to know their combos. The golden loong staff was a total lifesaver for me in early game! 🏆 I kinda wish they added more variety though, like some staffs that could change elements or something. Since i watched tones of shielded enemies being smashed by you while sharing with us the most comprehensive video on this topic, I can't asbtain myself from not pointing out (in case someone wasn't aware of) that you can use rocksolid against a shield attack therefore shattering it along with the additional defencebar. Thought i was doing something wrong since i appareantly came across only on staffs i dint like that much. My state of contentment was: i guess just more damage is better than ... nothing. I sticked with the stone staff for the most part, then switched to kangjin staff for the aesthetics rather then the stats or bonuses :)) felt great to summon lighting down on the enemy i'm pounding XD just to switch to the spider for some more damage and from this one to the visionary because again for the aesthtic and seemingly shallow sake (i dont enjoy seeing spider legs moving crawling like at each end of my staff ;) I hardly cand bring myself finishing it because i dont want it to end. Such a great game. Thank god ng+ exists.
after getting the tri-point spear and mastering thrust stance, I must say, the spear is actually OP. Super insane especially with the POM. When you have All your focus points, you can spam Forceful Thrust and absolutely melt an enemy while dodging attacks at the same time.
Did some spreadsheeting and simple trials on all of the staves you put in S-tier. Found that Fuban despite its impressive crit rate, it was the lowest damaging (dps) among them if you don't count the spike explosion (I couldn't get it to consistently hit, plus it's only on heavies). Fuban's passive can be eally nice though. Good against multiple enemies or big enemies like you said.
How would a 15 damage difference between fuban and jingubang, but such a huge difference in crit chance lead to jingubang having higher dps? Also fuban does quite a lot more damage than jingubang on heavy attacks from what I’ve seen since the spines can crit too.
@drillodoger6707 You can actually estimate the "dps" by assuming an average amount of crits based on crit chance... so for example if you have a 20% crit rate, you assume 2 out of 10 attacks are crits. Formula for it is DMG * (1+(CR)*(CD-100)/100)) DMG is the amount you hit after your attack goes through all the nebulous multipliers and enemy defence. You have to test against any enemy to figure this number out. I used the damage I got from a non-crit using a 3-focus charged heavy on the same enemy each time. You have to take an average though since even the exact same strike in the exact same enemy has variable damage (+/- 5 %? Something like that). CR is your crit rate as a proportion (so 23% is 0.23), and CD is your crit damage (not as a proportion, just drop the % sign and take the whole #). I don't know the full damage formula this game uses, but CD is the last multiplier that applies after your base attack goes through all the other multipliers and enemy defence. Using this formula, all of the mythical staves are actually very close to each other in dps, with black iron pulling ahead significantly more than the rest of the pack when you have 500+ defence. Like you said though, Fuban has the spines plus the spines can crit. I didn't account for that because I couldn't get them to consistently land (many enemies including those your size are too small to get hit by the spines). Jingubang has the advantage of being able to store the 4th focus point, so outside of flawless gameplay, you will hit more 4-focus smashes with it than with fuban. Their base dps are so close though, that I'd go with whichever has a passive you like more. Jingubang and fuban are def my favorite for that.
@drillodoger6707 plugging in 0 for dark iron, and 25 for fuban crit rates, if seems yes that it still outdamages fuban, even when you have a lot of crit damage (180%+). They're closer in dps at 0% natural crit rate though. Just wanna stress again that this is raw damage in a controlled setting. The spines from fuban, and set bonuses that benefit from you scoring crits could make fuban more effective overall. I don't think I have the time to make an accurate model for all of that lol
One thing I will say in the blazing karmas defense, I used it on the mantis boss that always like to charge in close and spam, directly after I would hit him he would charge back in and every time I would keep the fire pit between us. The burn damage was crazy and proct fast with the resistance ignoring soak.
Spider celestial staff is great with the armor set that increases your dmg when poisoned while lowering poison dmg you take. So you poison yourself with gourd, gets dmg buff and tour staff apply poison on heavy hits.
Regarding the staff that require you to be posioned, there is a soak that puts you in a poisoned state, using that could improve the benefits of that passive
Wanna prefix this with I love your videos and this one was really enjoyable to watch. Can't wait for the next stream! Spoke too ya a bit on your streams and have mentioned that erlang was the hardest boss for me. Now having beaten him I think I know why and it's mainly based on mentality. Majority of the players fighting him are not using rock solid or cloud step. I know this because I wasn't. Majority builds I saw fighting erlang were using spell binder and like the pilgrim set. Like 98% Spoke to my wife (she hasn't played the game) and she helped me come up with a better strategy which basically boiled down to Use the rock solid move for once. My reason for not using it was cause I'm personally aggressive with my play style and greedy for hits so I hated using cloud step which took you sorta out of combat. And I never used rock solid because at that point I was so used to just dodging everything as if I had ultra instinct. Thing about erlang is he will hit you if you're just dodging. You have basically 0.2% of a chance of dodging the entire fight unless you've already perfectly mastered him. Normal players and even good players aren't gonna dodge him ever. Erlang is hard as hell to beat but the moment I used rock solid in my build I legit best him on my 3rd try. Same with wukong. I think the main problem is every build that is shown and every tutorial for erlang shows you basically relying on being good enough to dodge and hit without relying on spells and while that does work, most players can't do that. Rock solid gets introduced just late enough for people's muscle memory to forget that it exists (I wanted to use it but never did because I was already so used to not having it) And I feel like a lot of players develop a hit greedy play style by that point. That's my idea/stand point on why some bosses like erlang or yellow loong are so hard for the community. I could easily be wrong but that's just me.
one little thing about the spear light attack the modified light attack has huge cancle window on attack 2 and 3 made it really easy to use the back hop(i forgot what the moves name) like ur using long sword in monster hunter
Golden Long So far has been a favorite Weapon, outside of specific situations, i have pillar stance equipped all the time and it absolutely melts if you pluck of many right before you set off your charged attack.
For the staffs with healing effects the health gained on focus skill really boosts it imo, and the crits giving spell cooldown is better than ya think with some luck and maxing crit rate skills then adding a potion you can make for free easily.
This tier list makes more sense and analytical than other youtuber channel tier list. Should have released this video much sooner lol. Just completed tha first playthrough.
I got the game 3 weeks ago and beat it with secret ending and all a week a half ago. Really fun game, gave me some real good challenges, there are bosses you have to be aggressive with, others you have to be patient really really good game, I'm playing the plus now. And for me the pillar stance is my favorite, I really don't find a use for the thrust stance and the smash stance will pretty much always be useful. Anyways, yellowloong was a pretty good fight, it took me like 5 hours to beat him, but a lot of that was from me going off to completely rebuild my stats 😂
U should do a vid about armor!! Specifically like late game armor sets for ppl in NG+ and above. There’s already plenty of videos of ppl grading all the armor sets in normal base game, but for NG+ and above (when you can upgrade mostly everything to mythical) I haven’t seen any videos of. On top of that, I notice you almost always wearing that yakusha armor all the time. Would you say that’s some of the best armor in the game? (Assuming everything has been upgraded to mythical) I’m assuming simply bcuz of the constant damage buff u get and not caring about the damage you take bcuz ur good at souls games etc.

(que ya la tienes). Una vez en la localización sube las escaleras centrales y habla con el pequeño monje que te transportará a una montaña helada. No te digo mas que no quiero spoilearte. Te recomiendo hacerlo antes de seguir con la historia principal para ya dejártelo hecho todo antes de acabar el juego. Además la recompensa es un arma bastante cheta. With the Mythic pilgram the stormflash is perfect ... but i get it but with that armor set any boss that can be immobilized is dead in 2 or 3 charged cloned synced heavys .. i believe that would be the phrase. Great breakdown. Thank you.
Currently in Chapter 4 and just crafted Spikeshaft staff. it now (after an update or patch note I guess) also gives you +30 Max Mana aside from 80 base attack.
Spoilers!: For those struggling with the Chapter 3 secret Boss: It is VERY easy, tbh. The hardest part is the Block Meter. 1. You Can use the Plantain Fan to deplete it ALL with a single use. 2. Azure Dust transformation also deals a massive chunk out of the Block. 3. The quick transformation spirit called "Top Takes Bottom, Bottom Takes Top" to deplete his Block Meter more and do decent damage. (Once it is upgraded, it works wonders on his health and Block.) 4. You can use Parry to block the hard telegraphed attacks they do while in the air. Using these I beat him really easily, it was a cake walk and first tried with this set up from a Video I saw. Hope it helps!
@@Taint_Smasher read please.... First tried Elarng with that setup... and so did i... i watched the same video made the same build and it was a cake walk.
If you want to get frisky with it, don't use the plantain fan in the first phase, time his block break, with a 4 point focus thingy when he's about to go the 2nd phase. If you break his block and trigger the 2nd phase attack. It SKIPS it, and you go straight into 2nd phase on top of doing crazy damage. And then you can easily trigger his 3rd phase disappearance with the wandering wight heavy, or ig top takes bottom smashes. Dodge the initial flurry, and then, immediately transform (azure dust) to soften him up a bit. Tank/dodge a combo, and then plantain fan him, summon clones, just empty the house and he dies. This is from NG testing, I'm sure it's even easier in NG+ because of the unified mind skill. I think you can actually skip the 3rd phase animation too with the fan but I never felt the need to. It's a bit more complicated. But you can damn near script the fight if you get it down.
Dope video, but you can definitely get dark iron staff before late chapter 5 on NG+. I’m only at chapter 4 and I’ve had it, pretty sure I crafted it in chapter2.
Cloud was great for a cloud step build was hitting over 3k per hit while clouds step was on a small cool down also I think certain enemies/bosses could have different defenses so that could alter your results if you just tested the black Smith
idk if this has been pointed out yet but the tri-point spear is not as hard to get as you say in the video, namely you DO NOT need to kill all 4 loongs to get to the secret boss, all you need to do is complete the secret side quests in each chapter
For Yellow Loong I strongly recommend rock solid and pluck of many maxed out. Pluck of many, immobilize and dump damage, then since pluck is maxed duplicates can use some spells, including immobilize. Withering Wight for his big boy damage, and use blacksmith transformation. For the transformation block to build focus and go into his special mode. These things should dump his HP to about 1/4 health. You gotta be pretty diligent at that point. DO NOT use pluck of many with chubai thrust staff either, because you and your dupes will be pushing each other out the way and wasting damage opportunities.
Btw you can do a crit poison build with spider staff by using that deathstinger soak and upgrading crit to max it would be a good staff hope this helps 👍
Funny cuz your recommended staff was what i used through my playthrough just naturally. I'm just devastated that things are lock behind at least 3 ng+ on top of true ending... some bosses took my hours to beat like the centipede without the golden needle 😅😅😅
The staff of blazing karma is craftable before the boss of ch5 is defeated. As well, while the explosion is underwhelming and crknge, it has probably the fastest scorch build in the game. The scorcg happens at the tip of the staff, so you have to get close to the enemy to knock them into it.
I think that you are underrating the Visionary Centipede Staff. You do not need to swap to a Spirit or Transformation, just combines it to with Venemous Armguard which, while not part of a set technically, it shares the set bonus with the Centipede set. This detail I believe should bump up the value of this staff,. That 10% crit chance is huge for the Armguards which proc on crit but only offer 3% crit themselves.
Spikeshaft Staff works on Tactical Retreat not just Resolute Strike. This is particularly useful for thrust users because Whirling Thrust does not generate focus. This particular synergy I think should bump up the staff a bit, though the lack of crit rate does still hurt it since Whirling Thrust is best on crit builds. Additionally, this passive also syngergizes very well with Skyfall Strike which does more damage based on the number of focus points built up. Personally, I am only using Counterstrike and Tactical specifically for these counters; if not for the special parries I would just run pure heavy attack builds.
from what i can deduce. GS needs to have an update that actulaly lets up upgrade the weapons to have all the choices we want when it comes to damage and then upgrades the passives
I'm loving the fuban staff with the kashka armor and 3 crit damage curious and 1 crit chance curiou. With the needle vessel and non able for my spirit for the extra crit. I walk around with 63% crit chance and 203% crit damage that mixed with spellbinder is so strong in NG+

The spear your get from Erlang is INSANE. Especially when paired with the relic that has your clones mimic your special abilities - you get to shoot a TON of spears lol

A cool thing for min/maxing is that the dark iron staff retains base damage from when it’s equipped. So after equipping it you can switch from max defense gear to max damage/crit gear for huge stats

It is worth mentioning that the two spear staff's hidden buff. The heavy attacks will break the light attack moves. Heavy follow light has to finish the light animation with all other staff. Only with the two spear staffs does the heavy following light go out the right way. When you are using the two spear staff, see-through is much, much, much easier.
Exactly. How nobody else is mentioning this is insane. Not just varied combos but also dodging immediately cancels light attack animations with the spears.
I noticed instantly when i unlocked the first spear that see throughs were so much easier to time and pull off. Animations are way tighter and can and shorter, i was able to resolute strike almost on demand.
before i got a hang of the game and started min-maxing my build, the golden loong staff was a lot of fun, the shock went crazy with pluck of many. then i realized how much better smash stance is lol.
Smash stance really is just the best. The other two are more about filling specific, usually more defensive roles.

I’ve played trough the entire game and I thought it was a good game in terms of combat lore etc. But in terms of customization and gear it’s a c minus. Just look at Wu Longs different armor sets, ability’s, while the game itself was definitely worse. Its build verity was so much better and interesting that I did play new game + there just because I wanted to try them out. In Wukong when you get the final armor you are just retarded for not using it and handicapping yourself. Every piece has bonus stats that no other armor have. Personally I see absolutely no reason at all to play new game +… Killing the same bosses wearing the same items ? Nha I’m good.
@@coltizz respect the opinion but i personally feel there are lots of viable options, yaksha set, bull king set, gale guard set, pilgrim set, you can build around anything imo, just depends on how you want to play. I will say once you get the jingubang there’s not really an on par option until ng+, but i personally love ng+ in every game. Syrobe said it perfectly on stream the other day, it’s like a victory lap once you beat the game and can just let loose. Everyone plays differently tho at the end of the day

@@brendodo9319 My memory was that each chapter rewarded the player with an item for completing side quests that help with final boss. Chapter 1 (Fireproof Mantle), 2 (Wind Tamer), 3 (Spellbinder), 4 (Weaver's Needle), 5 (Bishui Beast Staff)

@@mohams151 sage has a lot of intuitive timings, though. And less complicated combos than Erlang. Both of them are fine once you get them down, but Erlang, to me is harder than Sage because Sage can mostly be dodged by just looking at the color of his staff or sound cues very consistently.
The tri point spear is very underestimated imo.
The best part of its special attack is not the buff itself but the fact that it's fast attack with many, many hit counts.
When combined with the golden set, it charges up Qi like crazy, enabling you to do spirit skill in higher frequency.
And more spirit skill = more focus = more special attack = more Qi = MORE spirit skill, that's not even counting the attack buff that the golden set gives you upon using spirit skill🙉🙉🙉

I was dancing on yellow loong with this combo. Set my ring of fire and let the dance begin. If he's feeling frisky I just pop my rock solid. Non void and wind tamer. Untouchable.

The dark iron staff technically can be obtained early ng+....you just had to have skipped crafting multiple pieces of the bull king set/use only 2 pieces of bull horn. That way you can instantly start NG+ and craft the weapon.
That's what I thought, I crafted it right away. I just did the helm and left the others, since the full 4 peice bonus didn't seem amazing to me. You can't really trade in this game. (Until new game plus and pluck of many combo)

Thanks for this. Rocking the Dark Iron Staff since NG+ Chapter 2. It goes marvellously with the leg and arm pieces of the Bull Horn set that gives it plenty of defense. Add the mask and chest piece of the Pilgrim set for increased speed and the whole NG+ experience is amazing. Super enjoyable. Never picking up plants any more is a big part of that too !

The true option of the spear is that you can switch to the counter during any combo, which the staff can't do
“That Boss” in chapter 4 has been a menace for me for two days, so I’m trying to finish the Loong quest line to atleast get some more power before fighting them again
For the ppl struggling with the Yellow Loon boss:
Use the thrust stance, don't stay too close nor too far, stay somewhere in the middle (1 full Wukong height from your head to his legs) - reason is when you are either too close or too far he will be aggressive, when you're in the middle he will just walk towards you. Charge the attack up to 3 times and blast him, it will take some time but be patient, when you see him charging his attack, stop yourself from charging and focus on dodging, you will have to dodge first 2 attacks while gaining ground between him (try to get the same mid point distance again). Otherwise he will do a full combo of about 5-6 dodges required.
When you drop him to half health he will start to dodge your charge immediately with thunder jump, when I see him do that I start to charge the attack to 2 focus points and then blasting him, it seemed it worked better then - it wouldn't trigger the thunder jump as much. Or it could be that he always thunder jumps away 2 times in a row and after that you can hit him few times (after some time he will use the thunder jump again), I was able to hit him with 3 focus point charge from time to time, although 2 FP charge was more effective once below half HP.
This strat worked for me, hopefully it is clear enough and it helps someone.
I will explain more if needed in the comments.
Edit - I also used No skill spell that boost your attack 2x but removes other spells

What a trash guide. Way too complicated. The trick is just to summon your clones early, use cloud step to delay the fight and summon the clones twice in the fight. Wind tamer and whispering wight stops his weapon charge.

ik im 2 months late but you can stunlock most bosses for an extremely long time using the tri point staff by using light attack until you get the move where you stab them many times (unless you see the enemy start to attack then skip to next step) then press heavy attack twice for the sword shooting move (which stunlocks all enemies as far as i have tested) then immediately after pressing the heavy attack button, repeat this process until you dont have focus points left.
also its easier to do tactical retreat with the spears.
also the reason i say to press light attack many times and not just once is to gain back focus so you can stunlock the enemy for as long as possible
Not that I'd use the Visionary Centipede staff, but I guess it would synergize decently with the "super secret" Venomous Armguard the Venom Daoist gives you in Chp. 4, at the expense of his arms. These armguards inflict Poison Base upon landing a critical hit, and the staff gives 10% crit chance, so sure.
I unlocked the Golden Loong before finishing Ch.4 and oh boy, what a weapon! I am a smash stance lover and I still use the smash stance. The 108 base damage is a big jump! I am not "forced" to use the pillar stance, but when I build up to 3 focus points I can simply switch to pillar stance and unleash the heavy. This special heavy attack seems to stun almost every boss that has had the misfortune of standing in my way since, and I take full advantage of the lightning debuff when switching back to smash stance.

Jingubang all the way. In the lore, it is Wukong's favorite. In game, It has critical chance boost, cooldown reduce, attack boost, and 4th attack no longer depletes. What else can you ask tho

I would put Tri in higher tier on certain occasions. If you combine it with with Serpent Scale Set Armor it will deal a ton of damage, because you could deal light attack finisher much faster and reliable with the "Firce Thrust". The problem is you have to be on water arena to unlock its true potential. Well it will help so much fighting the Final Boss
29:09 actually, if you didn’t do the chapter 4 secret area’s scorpionlord, you have to wait until ng+ chapter 4 is completed or go do the scorpionlord in the secret area’s to get enough sky piercing horns.
Good to see the classic Jingubang get some love and appreciation. It’s probably my favourite staff and the wukong set is probably my favourite armour set too. I’ve messed around with other staves and yeah they can be extremely powerful but they aren’t half as iconic. Some may see it as boring but sometimes you can’t beat simplicity.
The tri tip spear is so insane tho, you can spam the varied combo during almost any boss fight and kill them from half… no other staff has that kind of power imo.
Was gonna go for the true stance until you said it has to get activated and goes away after 60 seconds. Insane to me to not just give it permanently after all that work to get it. Very sick video!!

Kang Jin staff goated. Carried me through most of chapter 3 and early chapter 4.
Currently in Ng++ trying Yaksha king set with dark iron staff, wind tamer vessel, wandering eight, 3 defense curios and one mana increase curios plus spellbinder. Not an extensive tester but it seemed funny to max attack while “increasing damage reduction” from -30%. Also using life saving strand bc hahah funny. Fyi life saving strand procs on your transformation(I’ve only been using Azure Dome so idk if life saving strand resurrects anything else) and then it still works on me(at least i think i haven’t tried cuz everyone has died after taking 2 azure dome beatings plus a beating from me

nice,, heard you talking about this .. been watching your one shot streams .. i managed to get 95 percent damage buff earlier.. used the armour with the 25 buff.. then the potion with 30 percent buff on last sip.. plus revive another 30 percent then the relic perk when you cast a spell another 10 percent.. helps a lot with my one shot attempts :)

Since i watched tones of shielded enemies being smashed by you while sharing with us the most comprehensive video on this topic, I can't asbtain myself from not pointing out (in case someone wasn't aware of) that you can use rocksolid against a shield attack therefore shattering it along with the additional defencebar.
Thought i was doing something wrong since i appareantly came across only on staffs i dint like that much. My state of contentment was: i guess just more damage is better than ... nothing.
I sticked with the stone staff for the most part, then switched to kangjin staff for the aesthetics rather then the stats or bonuses :)) felt great to summon lighting down on the enemy i'm pounding XD just to switch to the spider for some more damage and from this one to the visionary because again for the aesthtic and seemingly shallow sake (i dont enjoy seeing spider legs moving crawling like at each end of my staff ;)

after getting the tri-point spear and mastering thrust stance, I must say, the spear is actually OP. Super insane especially with the POM. When you have All your focus points, you can spam Forceful Thrust and absolutely melt an enemy while dodging attacks at the same time.
Btw for the tri point spear you don't need the loong dragon quests done, I only killed the cyan loong and was able to go kill erlang
Well you still one shot them from NG+ and on. So getting some extra sparks wont hurt.
Did some spreadsheeting and simple trials on all of the staves you put in S-tier. Found that Fuban despite its impressive crit rate, it was the lowest damaging (dps) among them if you don't count the spike explosion (I couldn't get it to consistently hit, plus it's only on heavies). Fuban's passive can be eally nice though. Good against multiple enemies or big enemies like you said.
What’s the best dps build for someone running spellbinder?
@ttydt dark iron staff, but you need high defence, like 500+. By my NG+ run, I had 550.
How would a 15 damage difference between fuban and jingubang, but such a huge difference in crit chance lead to jingubang having higher dps? Also fuban does quite a lot more damage than jingubang on heavy attacks from what I’ve seen since the spines can crit too.

You can actually estimate the "dps" by assuming an average amount of crits based on crit chance... so for example if you have a 20% crit rate, you assume 2 out of 10 attacks are crits.
Formula for it is DMG * (1+(CR)*(CD-100)/100))
DMG is the amount you hit after your attack goes through all the nebulous multipliers and enemy defence. You have to test against any enemy to figure this number out. I used the damage I got from a non-crit using a 3-focus charged heavy on the same enemy each time. You have to take an average though since even the exact same strike in the exact same enemy has variable damage (+/- 5 %? Something like that).
CR is your crit rate as a proportion (so 23% is 0.23), and CD is your crit damage (not as a proportion, just drop the % sign and take the whole #).
I don't know the full damage formula this game uses, but CD is the last multiplier that applies after your base attack goes through all the other multipliers and enemy defence.
Using this formula, all of the mythical staves are actually very close to each other in dps, with black iron pulling ahead significantly more than the rest of the pack when you have 500+ defence.
Like you said though, Fuban has the spines plus the spines can crit. I didn't account for that because I couldn't get them to consistently land (many enemies including those your size are too small to get hit by the spines). Jingubang has the advantage of being able to store the 4th focus point, so outside of flawless gameplay, you will hit more 4-focus smashes with it than with fuban. Their base dps are so close though, that I'd go with whichever has a passive you like more. Jingubang and fuban are def my favorite for that.
@drillodoger6707 plugging in 0 for dark iron, and 25 for fuban crit rates, if seems yes that it still outdamages fuban, even when you have a lot of crit damage (180%+). They're closer in dps at 0% natural crit rate though.
Just wanna stress again that this is raw damage in a controlled setting. The spines from fuban, and set bonuses that benefit from you scoring crits could make fuban more effective overall. I don't think I have the time to make an accurate model for all of that lol
One thing I will say in the blazing karmas defense, I used it on the mantis boss that always like to charge in close and spam, directly after I would hit him he would charge back in and every time I would keep the fire pit between us. The burn damage was crazy and proct fast with the resistance ignoring soak.
Spider celestial staff is great with the armor set that increases your dmg when poisoned while lowering poison dmg you take. So you poison yourself with gourd, gets dmg buff and tour staff apply poison on heavy hits.

Regarding the staff that require you to be posioned, there is a soak that puts you in a poisoned state, using that could improve the benefits of that passive

Spoke too ya a bit on your streams and have mentioned that erlang was the hardest boss for me. Now having beaten him I think I know why and it's mainly based on mentality.
Majority of the players fighting him are not using rock solid or cloud step.
I know this because I wasn't. Majority builds I saw fighting erlang were using spell binder and like the pilgrim set. Like 98%
Spoke to my wife (she hasn't played the game) and she helped me come up with a better strategy which basically boiled down to Use the rock solid move for once.
My reason for not using it was cause I'm personally aggressive with my play style and greedy for hits so I hated using cloud step which took you sorta out of combat. And I never used rock solid because at that point I was so used to just dodging everything as if I had ultra instinct. Thing about erlang is he will hit you if you're just dodging. You have basically 0.2% of a chance of dodging the entire fight unless you've already perfectly mastered him. Normal players and even good players aren't gonna dodge him ever. Erlang is hard as hell to beat but the moment I used rock solid in my build I legit best him on my 3rd try. Same with wukong. I think the main problem is every build that is shown and every tutorial for erlang shows you basically relying on being good enough to dodge and hit without relying on spells and while that does work, most players can't do that. Rock solid gets introduced just late enough for people's muscle memory to forget that it exists (I wanted to use it but never did because I was already so used to not having it)
And I feel like a lot of players develop a hit greedy play style by that point.
That's my idea/stand point on why some bosses like erlang or yellow loong are so hard for the community. I could easily be wrong but that's just me.
Easily push down on the D-pad for Wukong Stance.....that way, you can still switch to the other 3 stances. Hopefully Game Science makes it happen

the modified light attack has huge cancle window on attack 2 and 3 made it really easy to use the back hop(i forgot what the moves name) like ur using long sword in monster hunter
Golden Long So far has been a favorite Weapon, outside of specific situations, i have pillar stance equipped all the time and it absolutely melts if you pluck of many right before you set off your charged attack.

For the staffs with healing effects the health gained on focus skill really boosts it imo, and the crits giving spell cooldown is better than ya think with some luck and maxing crit rate skills then adding a potion you can make for free easily.

Just unlocked the Golden Loong staff and personally love the design and the Thunder Dragon attack. It was worth the grind 🐲⚡️⚡️⚡️!

I got the game 3 weeks ago and beat it with secret ending and all a week a half ago. Really fun game, gave me some real good challenges, there are bosses you have to be aggressive with, others you have to be patient really really good game, I'm playing the plus now. And for me the pillar stance is my favorite, I really don't find a use for the thrust stance and the smash stance will pretty much always be useful.
Anyways, yellowloong was a pretty good fight, it took me like 5 hours to beat him, but a lot of that was from me going off to completely rebuild my stats 😂
U should do a vid about armor!! Specifically like late game armor sets for ppl in NG+ and above. There’s already plenty of videos of ppl grading all the armor sets in normal base game, but for NG+ and above (when you can upgrade mostly everything to mythical) I haven’t seen any videos of. On top of that, I notice you almost always wearing that yakusha armor all the time. Would you say that’s some of the best armor in the game? (Assuming everything has been upgraded to mythical) I’m assuming simply bcuz of the constant damage buff u get and not caring about the damage you take bcuz ur good at souls games etc.

(que ya la tienes). Una vez en la localización sube las escaleras centrales y habla con el pequeño monje que te transportará a una montaña helada. No te digo mas que no quiero spoilearte. Te recomiendo hacerlo antes de seguir con la historia principal para ya dejártelo hecho todo antes de acabar el juego. Además la recompensa es un arma bastante cheta. Saluditos y que disfrutes lo que te queda de juego
With the Mythic pilgram the stormflash is perfect ... but i get it but with that armor set any boss that can be immobilized is dead in 2 or 3 charged cloned synced heavys .. i believe that would be the phrase. Great breakdown. Thank you.

Currently in Chapter 4 and just crafted Spikeshaft staff. it now (after an update or patch note I guess) also gives you +30 Max Mana aside from 80 base attack.

For those struggling with the Chapter 3 secret Boss: It is VERY easy, tbh.
The hardest part is the Block Meter.
1. You Can use the Plantain Fan to deplete it ALL with a single use.
2. Azure Dust transformation also deals a massive chunk out of the Block.
3. The quick transformation spirit called "Top Takes Bottom, Bottom Takes Top" to deplete his Block Meter more and do decent damage. (Once it is upgraded, it works wonders on his health and Block.)
4. You can use Parry to block the hard telegraphed attacks they do while in the air.
Using these I beat him really easily, it was a cake walk and first tried with this set up from a Video I saw.

If you want to get frisky with it, don't use the plantain fan in the first phase, time his block break, with a 4 point focus thingy when he's about to go the 2nd phase. If you break his block and trigger the 2nd phase attack. It SKIPS it, and you go straight into 2nd phase on top of doing crazy damage. And then you can easily trigger his 3rd phase disappearance with the wandering wight heavy, or ig top takes bottom smashes. Dodge the initial flurry, and then, immediately transform (azure dust) to soften him up a bit. Tank/dodge a combo, and then plantain fan him, summon clones, just empty the house and he dies.
This is from NG testing, I'm sure it's even easier in NG+ because of the unified mind skill. I think you can actually skip the 3rd phase animation too with the fan but I never felt the need to. It's a bit more complicated. But you can damn near script the fight if you get it down.

Dope video, but you can definitely get dark iron staff before late chapter 5 on NG+. I’m only at chapter 4 and I’ve had it, pretty sure I crafted it in chapter2.
Cloud was great for a cloud step build was hitting over 3k per hit while clouds step was on a small cool down also I think certain enemies/bosses could have different defenses so that could alter your results if you just tested the black Smith

idk if this has been pointed out yet but the tri-point spear is not as hard to get as you say in the video, namely you DO NOT need to kill all 4 loongs to get to the secret boss, all you need to do is complete the secret side quests in each chapter
For Yellow Loong I strongly recommend rock solid and pluck of many maxed out. Pluck of many, immobilize and dump damage, then since pluck is maxed duplicates can use some spells, including immobilize. Withering Wight for his big boy damage, and use blacksmith transformation. For the transformation block to build focus and go into his special mode. These things should dump his HP to about 1/4 health. You gotta be pretty diligent at that point. DO NOT use pluck of many with chubai thrust staff either, because you and your dupes will be pushing each other out the way and wasting damage opportunities.
Btw you can do a crit poison build with spider staff by using that deathstinger soak and upgrading crit to max it would be a good staff hope this helps 👍

Funny cuz your recommended staff was what i used through my playthrough just naturally. I'm just devastated that things are lock behind at least 3 ng+ on top of true ending... some bosses took my hours to beat like the centipede without the golden needle 😅😅😅

Thrust stance is the most fun to use imo. I like integrating all 3 but thrust is so much fun haha.

I am really surprised someone focused on one shot challange runs would prefer a staff thats pretty much only got utility going for it.
yeah kind of agree - 10 seconds is plenty of time to use the 4th focus point
because in any scenario other than a true one shot i would prefer the jingubang lol

If you use the chitin staff with pillar stance with 3 focus points the healing is actually pretty decent
The staff of blazing karma is craftable before the boss of ch5 is defeated. As well, while the explosion is underwhelming and crknge, it has probably the fastest scorch build in the game. The scorcg happens at the tip of the staff, so you have to get close to the enemy to knock them into it.
I think that you are underrating the Visionary Centipede Staff. You do not need to swap to a Spirit or Transformation, just combines it to with Venemous Armguard which, while not part of a set technically, it shares the set bonus with the Centipede set. This detail I believe should bump up the value of this staff,. That 10% crit chance is huge for the Armguards which proc on crit but only offer 3% crit themselves.
Spikeshaft Staff works on Tactical Retreat not just Resolute Strike. This is particularly useful for thrust users because Whirling Thrust does not generate focus. This particular synergy I think should bump up the staff a bit, though the lack of crit rate does still hurt it since Whirling Thrust is best on crit builds. Additionally, this passive also syngergizes very well with Skyfall Strike which does more damage based on the number of focus points built up. Personally, I am only using Counterstrike and Tactical specifically for these counters; if not for the special parries I would just run pure heavy attack builds.
from what i can deduce. GS needs to have an update that actulaly lets up upgrade the weapons to have all the choices we want when it comes to damage and then upgrades the passives
I feel it's important to note thrust stance itself increases crit chance. So I feel like the thrust stance specific weapons could all be higher

I'm loving the fuban staff with the kashka armor and 3 crit damage curious and 1 crit chance curiou. With the needle vessel and non able for my spirit for the extra crit. I walk around with 63% crit chance and 203% crit damage that mixed with spellbinder is so strong in NG+
