The beaming smile that hides a dark or tragic secret: It's hard to discern a person's true character from a photograph. Sometimes the eyes give it away, or the vacant look. But other times, there is no hint of what lurks behind the image or what disturbing backstory is attached to the subject.

I never understood killers who did it just because they wanted to know what it felt like, because I would imagine that if you’re so cold and unfeeling that you could kill someone just to see what it feels like, it wouldn’t feel like anything. You have no feelings. If you have such little regard for life and the people living it, it would probably feel no different than making a huge mess and then having to clean it up.
I’ll visit Chernobyl one day, hopefully.

I've actually been to Ravensbrück, really impressive in every way (both good and bad). I was there with school, and two survivors (who met there and later married) showed us around. Never cried so much.. They have both passed on by now, may they rest in peace.

I suppose most photos look normal if you aren't aware of the backstories any photos that contained serial killers for instance like the one i saw of Ted Bundy with his daughter would look like any normal father and daughter photo if i wasn't aware of who Ted Bundy was and what he did also the one of John Lennon signing the autograph for Mark Chapman hours before the later shot him dead on the doorstep of his apartment would just look like a star struck fan looking for an autograph from his idol and if what emded up happening didn't happen no one would ever have given it a 2nd thought

What happened to poor Timothy Evans was worse than a travesty. I cannot express my sadness and anger that he died in this awful way knowing he was innocent. It's unspeakable what he must have endured; I would probably go insane. I believe the Police and court simply wanted ANYONE to railroad for this and chose the man who loved her. Poor, poor man. How appalling! 😢
John Christie was able to manipulate the court so easily, against Evans who was dubbed "Feeble of mind.." Christie earned himself sympathy from his service in the First World War. There is a book called Famous 1914-1918, which details Christie's, and many others lives before, during and after WW1. I highly recommend it!

Those girls in the first video i hate to say are doing something incredibly unintelligent. The Chernobyl Exclusion Zone is literally a "no man's land", and despite the wildlife in the area having seemingly adapted to conditions and in some cases thriving, the same doesn't apply to humans, in fact this area will not be habitable for humans for a very long while (20k years or so according to experts). So while I'm pretty sure these girls didn't have a death wish, they obviously didn't do their homework about the potential dangers of doing something this careless. You'd think being called the "death claw" alone would be the biggest obvious red flag, but apparently not in this case, I really hope neither of these girls (or anyone else that is foolish enough to go to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone) end up paying the price for it later.
Dying from radiation poisoning is a really bad way to go,134 employees and emergency first responders found the hard way the day of the disaster.

Visiting Chernobyl isnt that bad if you keep a rad badge on and limit your time there. Definitely would not dig in the ground or mess with any machinery that was used in the cleanup though. However, those two girls are probably fine. He showed a picture and said how dangerous the claw is. If they just got in and took a quick picture and got out, its very unlikely they even got sick, let alone died.
EDIT: its estimated to give off 39.80 microsieverts per hour. Those numbers arent great but they are not dangerous for a single short term exposure. Its kept off of the tour because of the radiation, but that is likely more for the safety of the tour guides, not the people on the tour. If you regularly were exposed to it, it would not be good in the long term. Touching it though is not great. I still maintain, that it is highly unlikely that they suffered ill effects from just climbing in for a quick photo, unless they are going there everyday and doing it.

I used to have a big xerox-paper box chock full of pictures and negatives. A whole box of irreplacable memnories, and then I trusted the wrong individual who said I could store some of my stuff in their storage garage, which they then turned around and didn't pay the rent on for three months, and when I went to get my stuff there was a big fancy padlock, and they told me dude owed back rent, and they wouldn't let me get my stuff unless I paid his back rent. So I lost my stuff. Bastards, all of them. The dude who lied, the storage people who refused to let me get my stuff, all of them. But all their mountain of bad karma didn't get me my stuff back. No amount of punishment will get my stuff back, it's long gone now. All those memories, just gone... Granted, it's all just material things, but they were _my_ things! I love my planet, and I love my human species, but I hate society. I don't want our world to get nuked and end up a dead world like Mars.

Chernobyl has been reclaimed by nature so if nature can survive in the exclusive zone there you would wonder in the not too distant future whether humans would aswell unless the wildlife have some form of immunity to the radiation that humans don't
