  • Follow this short walk from Blea Tarn to the summit of Side Pike for stunning views of the Langdale Valley and Pikes. It is just under a mile of level walking, followed by an easy climb, with a few rock steps along the way to provide a bit of added interest. Ideal for the novice fell walker wanting to test themselves before moving on to something a bit bigger.

My first ever walk in the Lake District was up to Side Pike and from there I fell in love with the place .

Thats another one to treck Eric, I spotted that gate you walked through from Blea Tarn, you stopped there on the video you took about the evening walk around the Tarn, and talked about the moon shiner territory. Another brilliant video, TY Kenny.

Thank you Kenny. It is a nice little short one, which can be combined with Lingmoor for a really good day out. The thing was, it was a fine Saturday and yet virtually no one around. I could not believe how peaceful it was everywhere. Ambleside was heaving when I drove through!

We had a glorious day, walking with you round Blea Tarn and then tackling Side Pike. I think I took a few thou pics as well. Let's do something higher now I'm not smoking and have the extra breath. It'll have to be after the chemo's finished though. I'm sooo looking forward to walking wi you again marra.

Thank you Brian. It was one of those days that live in the memory. Lots more fells to take you up, and all equally glorious. Make sure you behave for the nurses and you'll be back out on the fells before you know it. It will be a day that I am looking forward to as not only will it be a lovely walk, but you'll be fighting fit, which is what we all want to see. Pavlova here we come!!!
