      Thank you Leona and Chris. Love this walk, going up along the route on the video, or, if I'm a bit short of time, going up the short way from Loughrigg Tarn up the stepped path to the summit. Great views both ways.

    I love your videos and your books Eric. I was in the Lakes last month and did a few walks from your Walks around Ambleside book. Enjoyed every second of it. Hoping to get back very soon to complete a few more. Thanks for the inspiration.

      jonathancraigguides I managed to walk the Langdale Pikes yesterday in glorious weather following one of your guidebooks. It was absolutely brilliant and the views were stunning. Been wanting to do it for ages and finally managed it. I never tire of all your videos Eric. I hope you make some more.

      @@alanglasgowbassist Glad you enjoyed it. Fear not, more videos on the way, in fact, a new one in production even as I write, although it has to be said that the views are not as spectacular as on the walk over the Pikes.

    Hi Jonathan, very enjoyable video. Very well put together and very engaging. On top of that, we got to view some of your dancefloor moves. Excellent. I just had to subscribe 👍👍👍

    • @jonathancraigguides
      @jonathancraigguides  6 років тому +1

      Thank you. Yes, there was a time when I was well known for clearing the dance floors throughout the whole of the North of England. Dad dancing at weddings is my speciality. I'm glad that was not the only part of the video you enjoyed. It is a superb walk, although the original route as planned when I set off to shoot it was not possible due to a path closure and footpath repairs, so a small detour had to be made. Thank you for subscibing, hopefully there will be more to see very soon.

    Loughrigg was my first back in July Jonathon. Done it from Ambleside over the top to the tarn then up to a wood that comes out at the terrace overlooking Grassmere. Absolutley stunning and its got me hooked. Done helm cragg and fairfield since hoping to get back in November again. Great videos by the way.

      Thank you Ian. I have to say that once the addiction starts, there is no going back. So much to enjoy. Hope you have a fab time in November. Thank you. You are not alone in your opinion of it. Friends of mine tell me that it is the best I have done, although I have to admit that I am not so sure. It was certainly one of the hardest to do, as there were a lot of people around when shooting, and those final scenes were taken in the early evening. I've never been able to dance properly. Just off screen is a fellow fell walker who must have wondered whether I'd gone totally mad! Glad you enjoyed it.

    Stayed at nuem crag in may 2017, walked lots of that area, will definitely do the walk over the top this or next year.

    • @jonathancraigguides
      @jonathancraigguides  6 років тому

      Thank you Alistair. I walked through Neum Crag on a Saturday in May 2017, on my way from Loughrigg Tarn to Skelwith Bridge, avoiding the road. Perhaps we passed by each other without realising it. There is a shorter route from Loughrigg Tarn to the top of Loughrigg Fell, a short steep climb, but the one on the video is very pleasant. Hope you enjoy it.

      Alas Alistair, our paths did not cross. I took that walk the week before the spring bank holiday. I'm pleased that you are enjoying my guides, as I really enjoy making them. I also enjoy chatting to the people I meet on my travels around the district, and I always think that May is one of the nicest months of the year to be enjoying this wonderful part of the world.

    Hi Eric. I would love to walk this route. Do you have a link please.

    • @jonathancraigguides
      @jonathancraigguides  6 років тому +1

      Thank you. It is a fabulous walk. I haven't created a map or route directions personally, however, here are two links that will help you on your way. The first is a short description of the walk, however, the writer starts at Skelwith, whereas my video starts at Elterwater. Other than that, it is the same route. www.fellscape-walks.co.uk/wLoughrigg.html
      The second features an image of the O/S map of the route, and photographs. From the layout it looks as though the writer goes round in the opposite direction to me. If you do this, note that the best views are often behind you. www.walkthelakes.co.uk/Walks/2003/LoughriggFell200602.htm
      I am currently working on a project to produce detailed walking instructions for my walks, to accompany the videos. If you are not planning to do this walk in the next four weeks then my route instructions may be available. I will keep you posted. Whatever your plans, I hope you thoroughly enjoy the walk. It is one of the most scenic of the lower walks in the South Lakes region.

      Glad you enjoyed it. Mountain joy fever is very contagious. I've had it since I was sixteen and I'm just turned 26 now. (If you just turn 26, you get 62). No, I don't have a map of this one as yet, but if you let me know when you are thinking of doing it I'll get something sorted for you.
