4 years old, and this video saved my butt! Had to move housemate’s car during storm for fear of falling trees. The only spare they had was beyond dead. Knew about the hidden key to get in the car, but could not for the life of me figure out how to turn the car ON! Thank you so much!! Worked exactly like you said!
I was stuck today at a grocery store and I went on UA-cam to see how to start the car if your car fob dies and this video really helped me a lot I reached home safely thank u very much .
My cars key has been running low on battery and today it finally died, I spent about 5min trying to turn it on and i decided to just give UA-cam a try and look up way to turn it on, came across your video, gave it a try and BAM !! It worked haha I normally don’t comment on videos but wanted to leave you a comment giving you props for it lol 🤘🏽
@@Damia_In_Wonderland my Honda CR-V owner' s manual had nothing to say about how to start your car when the fob battery dies. In fact the owner's manual -all 170 pages is ridiculously complex to understand.
@@terrid7827would have had to tow the car to a shop then let them rip you off to fix the issue. If this happened too late at night, you’d have to walk home or hitch a ride on the highway and God knows who would pick you up. Some psychotic.
Thank you so much for this video! Key Fob stopped working and I replaced the key fob battery and it still didn’t start. I watched the video and followed the instructions and it started Dodge Journey 2014. I was stranded at Walmart with groceries and this video saved me a tow and time❤
Thank-you for your help! Even calling the Honda place didn't help & it wasn't in the manual. you would think the salesperson would show us everything but they don't. U saved the day. Granny
This man making a video to help everyone and y'all wanna complain about the length of his explanations? That are being given for YOUR benefit? In a video YOU chose to watch?
Meagan C I had to stop watching it. And got to someone else’s page. He just blabals on unnecessary. I don’t think it’s as much people complaining as people are trying to give him constructive criticism so he next video is not so wordy and more to the point.
Smart key makes life WAY simpler. I put my keys in my pocket in the morning when I leave the house, and leave them there until I get home in the evening and unlock the door to my house. Don't need to unlock car door, don't need to have key out to start the car; can start it remotely on cold winter mornings; never have to worry about locking my keys in the car because even if I wanted to, the car literally wouldn't let me. Having to change the battery once every couple years is a small - no, tiny - no, MINISCULE price to pay for all that simplicity and convenience.
@@terrid7827 Um yeah, I remember all the stress associated with taking keys out of my pocket, and putting them in door locks. Not sure how I ever made it through those years. Am so happy my children will not have to be burdened with a key DAY in and day out in the for a couple decades. So blessed.🙂
My wife notoriously locked her keys inside or misplaced her keys before we bought our 2016 CRV with push button start. Chasing after a rambunctious 4 year old can make you forget where you laid your keys, or you just subconsciously lay them down when tending to the little one! In that context, the push button start feature actually simplified our lives! Now, it just lives in her purse in a zippered pocket. No more AAA unlock calls! We love it! As a side story, back in the 90's when we all still were using actual keys, my mom had the same tendencies to misplace her keys as well. She had 10 kids to chase after. After my dad had to come bring her the spare set a few times, he eventually just wired a spare key up under the vehicle chassis for her! Now, she has a push button 2019 HRV and loves it!
My mom had a similar in incident like this , now that I have my own, she gave me a good tip: Always keep a spare battery, it’s not much but it will save you if it so happens to die on you. A buttoncell battery is inexpensive and compact, so you can keep it in your glove compartment. Buy two if you have to and keep the other on the trunk with your spare tire.
I almost thought this video was fake just because you stopped just before turning on your car lol. Looking at the comments, I’m thankful for this video!
What a great tip! I'm having issues with my CR V fobs (replaced the battery not two months ago and now it says it's low again). Something must be up, but I'm glad you posted this in the event I get caught with a dead battery. Seems to have worked for people. Thanks a bunch!
Started car and it said battery was running low on fob. I was going to work and was afraid so I grabbed my other fob just in case the 1st one died while at work. This is extremely helpful! 🙏
Hey thanq so much for ur video My car got stuck in middle of high road & we were unable to start the car due to low battery in key.. ur video only helped me & I was able to start the car.. Thank you so much.. May my lord Hanuman bless you 😄😄
Thank you very much sir today I start the car with out hard time because of your video I learn very early morning today thank you more power and God bless you
Great video and will get a lot of people out of trouble thankyou. On the later civics and mybe other models too the with smart display screen it warns you if remote key is out of range and you get message like... "Keyless remote not being Detected" If you are getting this message but you have the remote key with you It could also mean that the battery inside the key fob is weak so you should have it replaced ASAP before it lets you down. However if battery in remote has gone you can still start the car, the display in your car will tell you what to do, you will see a message like.... "To start hold remote near start button" It will also display a picture on screen showing you this. Hope that helps.
#1 Find the key inside and open the door like a normal car #2 put the fob near the start/stop button cause there’s a chip that doesn’t require a battery most likely an nfc chip. Simple.
The key FOB is using NFC technology as like used in credit cards, and mobile phones for tap and pay to start the car when the FOB battery is dead. Most cars have the vehicle NFC sensor behind the ignition switch. Some have it in another location. Check the owner's manual for details. Place the key FOB at the proper position; usually at the ignition button and press the button. The car should start.
It's not NFC. It's just getting the weak signal closer to the receiver. I just verified this with my FOB by trying to add an Apple Shortcuts Personal Automation that is able to be triggered by scanning NFC. My NFC credit cards work with no problems and are recognized as NFC, but not the FOB. The iPhone does not recognize the FOB at all.
I have a Honda Civic with a similar key fob. The other week I thought I had lost my keys but did have the spare key fob.. it wouldn't work when pressing buttons (dead battery?) so used the physical key to unlock driver's door, it worked except.. the alarm was going off. I fiddled around, then just shut the door and locked it with key.. which turned the alarm off momentarily, but came back on a few seconds later. I fiddled with the locking mechanism again, finally turned off for good. Luckily I found the main keys back inside later but since have anxiety/fear with the alarm going off.. and afraid to ever use the physical key again (spare or main set).
Thank you you just saved me but mine was so dead I had to like hold it up right after n front of it when starting so if this method doesn’t work try doing them both at once!
I've owned Honda City 2013 model. The ignition remains working without battery on the smart key. The chip on the key fob can work without battery which is amazing.
Question: Wife has a 2019 CR=V ... Will the car drive after starting in the way you describe or do you have to hold the fob up by the start button while you drive?
Thanks for your Vedio! I can’t open the car door using key fob. I called the CRV service they told me to tow my car. I don’t want to do this due to Coronavirus. I watched your Vedio and got the real key then open the door! Thank you very much!
Press the brake and use your smart key to push the start button, you may have to try different orientations. If that doesn’t work hold the key flat against the start button for 10-15 seconds and try again. Alternatively if you see a slot relatively the same size as your smart key you’ll instead place your smart key into the slot and then press the brake and start button.
