The first time I watched this film, I thought younger generations wouldn't get because of the breakup of the phone company and various other changes to phones. After some time had passed, I watched this scene again and thought that some of it seemed prophetic.
J. Edgar Hoover was so miffed at this movie that he tried as hard as he could to suppress its distribution in theaters and to punish the people involved in its production.
I noticed at the Average American Family's house a TPC truck parked across the street. Now I have to watch the whole movie again and look for TPC repairmen and trucks in the background!
Clearly one of the best films ever made. Back in the day when computers were owned by the military and the phone company. Neither of whom were to be trusted.
For those of us old enough to remember the old Bell Telephone Science Specials, the sequence when he explains the CC might look kinda familiar - and it should, since it was done by dePatie-Freleng, the comp[any that did the graphics and animations for those specials...
This was a great film. Too bad it pissed off J. Edgar Hoover, who had the FBI shut it down after it's release. It was pulled from theaters, and never made a profit. Watch the short film about the director on UA-cam, "Ted Flicker, A Life In 3 Acts". In the video, Ted tells how he made the movie, and why the FBI dumped on him. A great little video, and more insight into "The President's Analyst".
thanks- could have been because he was hinting about secret technology that actually does exist and that was way back in 1967- imagine that same nanotech now
In obviously , totally unrelated' news, Musk recently gave an interview to The Guardian in which he called for microchips to be inserted in every human brain."Holy golden apples of Eris, Batman!"
Yep. The Nazis originally had the perfectly reasonable goal of revising The Treaty of Versailles, and The Japanese just wanted to create a Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere,, To cite one other example, The Spanish inquisition was just trying to bring religious unity to Spain!
@@peggyfranzen6159 Yeah, William A Fraker. God knows what mood I was in when I looked it up, but I am fascinated by how movies are made. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_A._Fraker

Smartphones are primitive in comparison to the "... cerebrum communicator..." as explained in this scene. This movie is still a must-see. I was lucky enough to have seen it on some movie channel that aired it several times sometime after Y2K & before the subprime market bubble burst. Since having seen it, I definitely regard it as having GOAT status beyond cogency, full-on clout. Interesting, too, that although its release date is the year of the Summer of Love.
You really did not need mind altering drugs back then if you watched some movies. Ah yes the telephone company and the postal system. Post Office Telecommunications. Telly Savalas. Derek Flint. Flint stone. Mete the Press Gang. Press the.... lol
This film is a masterpiece.
one of my alll-time favorites
😎😮⚡
This scene is a masterpiece!
One of the most underrated movies of all time.
The first time I watched this film, I thought younger generations wouldn't get because of the breakup of the phone company and various other changes to phones. After some time had passed, I watched this scene again and thought that some of it seemed prophetic.
More than just somewhat prophetic , we ARE all hooked up its just not directly wired to our brains . . . yet .
@@imopman Wasn't Elan Musk recently working on developing a microchip to be implanted in the human brain for just such purposes?
One word: Google
A little prescient gem, hidden away in an obscure movie from the 60's.
There are reasons this movie is obscure. At the risk of sounding paranoid, certain individuals *wanted* it to be suppressed.
Hey, I first saw it in the theater. It is isn't it obscure to me.
J. Edgar Hoover was so miffed at this movie that he tried as hard as he could to suppress its distribution in theaters and to punish the people involved in its production.

You can see TPC references in the Greenwich Village and White House lawn scenes... 😉
Clearly one of the best films ever made. Back in the day when computers were owned by the military and the phone company. Neither of whom were to be trusted.
As if we can trust Amazon & Google ...
I had a part-time job as an usher in a theater where this movie premiered in 1968 and really loved it.
A hilarious, prophetic, scene from one of the funniest, most obscure, movies ever made.
For those of us old enough to remember the old Bell Telephone Science Specials, the sequence when he explains the CC might look kinda familiar - and it should, since it was done by dePatie-Freleng, the comp[any that did the graphics and animations for those specials...
Ha! Thank you for that tidbit! I always assumed it was designed as satire of those.
Though I daresay they were more well known for their Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies cartoons, and their biggest claim to fame, The Pink Panther.
I remember those films. They used to show them to us in school for science clssses. I worked for Pac Bell in San Fran before moving to NYC.
This movie was hilarious! i worked for Ma Bell when this movie came out, and we used to quote lines like " you're all psychotic" to our bosses. lol.
Rest In Peace Pat Harrington. You'll always be my favorite phone company man!
Can I please place a call? " I'm sorry that number is not in service."😮
Also Depatie-Freleng's Inspector.
Possibly a reality about to be revealed to the world.

Relevant even today.
I see the youngsters thumb bumping on their mini telephone booths and I tell them to watch this old movie.
Zuckerberg wishes he was this charming.
Only with President of TPC.🌅
And the best thing is that is a damn animatronic.
Things have changed, but they've also remained the same.
Wow! They predicted Google.
This set design was worthy of Ken Adam.
LordZontar So True!!!!!
One Day at a Time. Super.
Foreshadowing Neuralink! ;-)

These things always start out for the most "noble" of reasons.

Genius!!!!
3:06 That's the 5G mind control tracking microchip that Bill Gates put into the COVID vaccines! 🤣
Omg don't let the US crazies see this movie!
Same director of photography as WarGames (1983).
Really?

The singularity I967 ❤😂🤯
Note the Bell Telephone-style film about the CC. The news is already talking about something similar becoming reality.
J. Edgar Hoover got this movie pulled from the theatres.
He had the screenwriter blacklisted.
Hoover, may you rot in hell!
We have to research if Steve Jobs ever saw this movie.
And Elon Musk.
The Prescient Analysis, but not the TPC, cell phones and Facebook.
Everybody hates the phone company.
Great job by Pat Harrington.
Needs a remake with the villain being the Tech Bros.
better than network. Pat Harrington is brilliant.
2:40 yeah, nice idea. We have that today in "smart phones". but what data plan are you using!
maybe major whistleblowing about d2bw and rnraw
It sounds more advanced than the Neuralink. If anything, it sounds like the way the Borg got started.

Still a great movie.
WHERE can I get the missing "Dr. Schaffer first meets Nan at the "Hostile Horror Happening" 2 (or so) minutes..?
That appears to have been destroyed.

Daniels had a decent part, as I recall, as a suburban husband.

How do you think we will achieve perfect "contact tracing"?
Substitute "Big Tech" for TPC and you've got it.
