PORCH CONCRETE FLOOR AND PREPARATION ..PORCH PT 3
WE STONE UP WITH HARDCORE THEN COMPACT IT WITH A WACKER PLATE . WE THEN SAND BLIND IT AND WACKER IT AGAIN . NEXT GOES IN DPM NUMBER 1 , NEXT THE 125 MM THICK JABLITE POLYSTYRENE GOES IN INCLUDING A 25 MM COLD BRIDGING STRIP AROUND THE PERIMETER. NEXT THE SECOND DPM THEN FINALLY THE CONCRETE WHICH WE MIXED OURSELVES IN THE BELLE MIXER AND WE ALSO BUCKET GAUGED THE AGGREGATES AND CEMENT .
WE RAN OUT OF CONCRETE SO HAD TO PICK UP MORE STONE TO GET FINISHED....ENJOY - Навчання та стиль
what a waste .. throwing those nice double glazed doors and panels into the skip. pathetic fist bumping mentality . so sad .
Sorry, next time we will bring them to your house and put them in your garden for you to sort them out .
And we will stop the fist bumping just for you , you miserable get 🖕
@@SteveAndAlexBuild what’s a get?
@@nigelparker5886 😆😆
funnily enough I was thinking what a perfect example of construction industry environmental waste - round here the householders would have asked for the doors to be removed intact and they'd have offered them on a "reuse" website (free most likely)
Can't reuse old doors no guarantee.
Good job Steve, makes it ten times harder in the rain. Sometimes you just have to keep slogging on.
Love the way you always leave the job nice and tidy
Thanks Jack 🧱👍🏽
Lovely surprise when I saw there was part 3 to watch. You must be a mathematician as well Steve to work all those measurements and levels out even though I was decent at maths my head would have been spinning. Love the light hearted moments you bring into the videos Alex. Keep up the good work lads.
Thanks very much John 🧱👍🏽
Hi Steve &Alex. No pressure but I know you two will get it done. When decorating new extension I see so many step up or step down where they haven’t got level. You always get done cause just get on with it. Well done guys. Have a good weekend 👍
Cheers John 🧱👍🏽
Always great see you both working hard great job as always lads 👍 👍
Cheers Dave 🧱👍🏽
Awesome video thanks lads very informative thanks 👍🇬🇧👍🇬🇧
Thanks Phil 🤙🏾🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
I hate the rain...people don't realise how hard the building game can be at times...Great job lads...roll on the summer...thanks for video enjoyed it..🧱👍
Absolutely Del .
Thanks pal 🧱👍🏽
Excelente trabajo felicidades saludos y mil bendiciones para uds 💪👊👌🏻

Brilliant job again lads fair play. You would look great dad on Strictly in those blue wellies.

More complications but no problems to the Alex and Steve team well done roll on next one.👍👍👍😎😎😎

Nice one guys🤩I like the way you prioritise things in the morning🤔 Wellies, bacon rolls😆 Yeah, lot of work in that little oversite, and it certainly isn't going anywhere👊 Nice little bonus working under that old canopy🤩Cheers Del
Cheers Del , our schedule worked around that canopy and the weather 😆😆☂️👌🏼🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild I bet it did Steve🤩and its not very often you a cover to work under👊

Steve and Alex, sometimes converting can go wrong and you are not the only one that can be caught out by the volume whilatixing by hand. Keep up the good work 👍
😁🧱👍🏽
great job
Thanks Steve 🧱👍🏽
good job well done again
Cheers Ronnie 🧱👍🏽
Great content again lads, you would think you used a power float on that slab Steve lol, Bring on the next one, I can’t wait to see what you do with that shared roof 👍

Good work

Good work champs

Well done lads.
Thanks Chuck 🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
Great job. Another tonne of hardcore would have saved your ballast and thus having to get more. But you know that now. Well done
🙄🧱👍🏽
Top job as usual 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🧱🧱🧱🧱🧱🧱
Thanks pal 🤙🏾🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
Bit of a tight area guys but at least you have that canopy roof above, ideal when that rain came, great work as usual 👍👍
Thanks, we saved this job for the bad weather😉🧱 👍
That canopy was a god send
Theres a lot of work goes into a concrete slab 👌👌
Absolutely 🧱👍🏽
Start using the stand for the mixer guys . So much easier.
Binned it years ago, hate them 😆🧱👍🏽
Such a difficult working environment! No space, fiddly area, just one of those jobs where your vocabulary can improve in an instant! Terrific result nonetheless guys!
Thanks Dave 🧱👍🏽
Over head 📷 was brilliant
The Milwaukee concrete did a fine job
Cheers Joe we try and get angles like that to keep things interesting 🤙🏾🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
It’s always the wee boy doing the work I’ve noticed
Wee boy 🤣🤣🧱👍🏽
I'm a bit surprised you didn't get the mix on site truck in.
But I suppose for the volume you thought it would be the cost would have been too much?
It does seem a waste throwing the old door away but the chance of it being the exact right size for someone is minimal as is having someone who would build round it looking as you take it out.
Keep up the good work guys!
Yeah it’s a minimum charge of 1 cube .
🧱👍🏽
Should imprevised and put red bricks on ground cement on top to save on cement
Not sure what you mean but that doesn’t sound good 😬🧱👍🏽
Hi great work as usual.. we can't use jabalite in bristol we have to use Kingspan pir or similar would live to use jab as its half the price 😉 😀
Same we here now .
Jab gone very expensive now 🧱👍🏽
I've laid a fair bit of concrete .... almost always underestimated what I'd need !
Same here 😳🧱👍🏽
👏👏👏👏👏👍🏻👍🏻
🤙🏾🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
There's waste on nearly every building job . After 35 years of collecting used doors and windows thinking I'll need them someday. Truth is I chopped up good timber doors and windows for firewood as nobody will want them . I could have used the space taking up my yard for more productive things like a boat for me .
Well said Mike , how real life is 🧱👍🏽
Certainly on the struggle bus for a while there 🙄 Still, got slab down and waiting for part 4 👍👍
😁🤙🏾🤙🏾🧱👍🏽
Just a quick question could it be possible you guys make a video on how you use the rotary level im a apprentice and deffo need to learn how to use one thank YOU GUYS
If you go back we did one a couple of years ago 👍🏽
It is compulsory with all concrete to mark it with your own personal stamp (boot, hand or other body part!)
😏🧱👍🏽
Good job lads, respect the graft. How come you guys only did a single course on the wall where the door will be?
Thanks Max . No point building a wall where there isn’t one 😉🧱👍🏽
Well done lads, another tonne of type 1 under that insulation would have saved on ballast. Alex could have got that ballast under cover before the rain came, instead he’s been your camera man. Perhaps invest in a tripod.
🧱👍🏽
leave the concrete part to the pros!!! (nothing but love)
😆😉🧱👍🏽
Have I missed it in later videos but has Steve had his hip done yet
Won’t be happening this year 😫🧱👍🏽
Lot of people mentioning that the doors were wasted. What a nightmare trying to sell them or even give them away. Nobody ever wants them just end up lying around and end up as garden art🤣😅🤣
Exactly Jack 👌🏼🧱👍🏽
We have all been caught out with floor levels
Very true 😒🧱👍🏽
Take the superficial area say, 4m2 take the thickness say 120mm then times it by 2. 4 X 120 X 2 = 960 so you would need just under a tonne
Cheers Paul 🧱👍🏽
Hello
Good job.
Question
We usualy put steel bars in concrete.
Yust itneresting.
Hope you dont mind my question.
Greetings
Thanks pal .. No need 🧱👍🏽

Couldn't hack the jabbering on the radio!

What a waste of a perfectly good double glazed door and front porch window set.. Surely that was worth keeping and reusing do someone a good turn they get it cheap and you make money also when reinstalled..
We are bricklayers, we don’t install doors
@@SteveAndAlexBuild Oh i see, still seemed such a waste..

Hi Steve and Alex, another great video ? Why do you use 2 DPM’s?
Building regs mate , a pain in the arse 🙄🧱👍🏽

I'm raging Lad's as I missed the Premiere, as the Missus has me Wall Papering the Living Room for Crimbo. Next thing after that she will drag me around the shops to buy a New Tree and decorations 😭 The only thing I get from it is the hassle of opening my wallet to pay for It 🤣😅 See you on the Next live Lad's
Hang in there Gary 🤣🤣🧱👍🏽
Enjoyed as usual. Quick question, which you might have already explained but why only 2 sleds with cavity, none where the door goes?
Sleds ??
What are sleds
@@hywelcarlick9980 check your original comment 🤨
@@SteveAndAlexBuild sorry should have read walls with cavity
@@hywelcarlick9980 ah . You don’t build a wall where there isn’t one above 🧱👍🏽
Maybe put in some metal rods to pevent cracking
No need 🧱👍🏽
Why do you always concrete the floors i would just match the wood floor in the existing house. That is why the dpc is low because it is under the joists. I prefer wood floors as easy to put wires and pipe under plus bloody hate concrete. Good video again lads
Thanks Paul 🧱👍🏽
I've been on jobs like that brand new windows a year old taking out and thro away. It is a shame make way for the new.
We have just done a job for someone who bought some quite new timber french doors and we re modelled the back of the house to fit the new doors 🧱👍🏽
What a waste of a complete door assembly😂
Yep 🧱👍🏽
great work quality but I hate workmen who just put on the radio at full blast...there is literally no need and pisses off the neighbours.
It wasn’t on loud it was just close to the camera 😬🧱👍🏽
Because the main door is being replaced with an internal grade door. Doesn’t it now mean it needs to meet building regs? Ie 100mm celotex in the floor and 100mm cavity’s???
This was pre part l 🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild so it was filmed before 2001? 🤔
🤨
i think the owner could have sold the frame and doors never mind thanks for the video
Thanks Eddie but it’s not as simple as just sell it 🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild it just seems a shame to throw it but i have herd scrap yards are taking them
@@eddieMurphy11111 🧱👍🏽
Could you have used timber joist ?
No 🧱👍🏽
The next owner will probably have the whole lot removed so they can use the carport. A very strange job to have done.
A nice big porch warning the hall and making access infinitely better is f a strange job 🧱👍🏽
How much did use make out of that job
🧱👍🏽😁
Why didn’t you leave the concrete down 50 m from floor level then you could screed it when the doors come out to get a perfect level through
No need 🧱👍🏽
Couldn´t sell those doors to a secondhand dealer or something?
No mate 🧱👍🏽
Hate concrete just had 3.5 cube pumped in for footings on a 3m x 4m area , £530 on concrete inc vat n waiting time + £350 pump cost. They done it in under a hr cleaned n gone. Were in the wrong game.
Kin ell ! 😱🧱👍🏽
Why can't the French doors be reused or recycled? Put them on ebay or marketplace.
Because the customer didn’t want them in their drive till someone decided to buy them …. If anyone bothered to buy them 🧱👍🏽
Not sure why you used two layers of visqueen.
The first layer was sufficient
I’m with you but building regulations don’t agree unfortunately 🧱👍🏽
no screed?
Nope 👍🏽
Dad needs a mic
Dad has a mic now 😁😁🧱👍🏽

A curb ball always hits you when you don’t expect it and I could tell Steve was really annoyed everything is on your shoulders always adds bit on when ordering concrete you have a skip for access no matter what the cost your good at your job and shouldn’t be watching every penny obviously pride is a big thing when pricing ooops 😀😀😀
it's a " Curve " ball... not curb..🤨

Hey follow up on my comment in PT 2, that canopy looks disgusting - UV, dirty rain, algae, mould and bird poo

@@SteveAndAlexBuild I wish I'd built the floor up with mine, instead we stepped down as we built under an existing canopy - hindsight 😮💨
@@freepress8451 😬🧱👍🏽
A little planning and careful measuring would have saved a lot of fiddling!
No it wouldn’t
Terrible waste of those double glazed units , easily been used elsewhere,
Not easily at all
@@SteveAndAlexBuild I just don’t like to see things go to waste , like my brother in law just took his fence down which were feather edge panels couple years old I’ve had em 😂 using them to create a double sided fence , saves them going to waste .
Cowboys
🤣🤣🤣thanks
How can anyone have a disaster with 4 sq meters? I'm guessing 🤔 but looks like house 70s 80s timber chipboard flooring cavities on main building 50mm No insulation, your face bricks don't look a good match, hope you match the joints as don't look like your bucket handle! your be stuffing your cavity with insulation and the roof... all that plastic and polystyrene and concrete to take weight of heavy goods vehicles... am also guessing your footings are down a meter, and you will have filled with concrete from mixer
so, we won't call it a entrance Porch but The Hot House
poor clients for such a waste of materials but look on bright side when house is freezing 🥶 😫 just go sit in The Hot House 🏠 😜
Malcs in Perth WA ♥️ 😎
This build won’t even meet the new insulation regs now so it should be warmer .it’s a bit colder in England
