  • IN THIS WEEKS VIDEO WE..
    PORCH CONCRETE FLOOR AND PREPARATION ..PORCH PT 3
    WE STONE UP WITH HARDCORE THEN COMPACT IT WITH A WACKER PLATE . WE THEN SAND BLIND IT AND WACKER IT AGAIN . NEXT GOES IN DPM NUMBER 1 , NEXT THE 125 MM THICK JABLITE POLYSTYRENE GOES IN INCLUDING A 25 MM COLD BRIDGING STRIP AROUND THE PERIMETER. NEXT THE SECOND DPM THEN FINALLY THE CONCRETE WHICH WE MIXED OURSELVES IN THE BELLE MIXER AND WE ALSO BUCKET GAUGED THE AGGREGATES AND CEMENT .
    WE RAN OUT OF CONCRETE SO HAD TO PICK UP MORE STONE TO GET FINISHED....ENJOY

      funnily enough I was thinking what a perfect example of construction industry environmental waste - round here the householders would have asked for the doors to be removed intact and they'd have offered them on a "reuse" website (free most likely)

    Lovely surprise when I saw there was part 3 to watch. You must be a mathematician as well Steve to work all those measurements and levels out even though I was decent at maths my head would have been spinning.     I'm a bit surprised you didn't get the mix on site truck in.
    But I suppose for the volume you thought it would be the cost would have been too much?
    It does seem a waste throwing the old door away but the chance of it being the exact right size for someone is minimal as is having someone who would build round it looking as you take it out.

    Hi great work as usual.. we can't use jabalite in bristol we have to use Kingspan pir or similar would live to use jab as its half the price 😉 😀

    There's waste on nearly every building job . After 35 years of collecting used doors and windows thinking I'll need them someday. Truth is I chopped up good timber doors and windows for firewood as nobody will want them . I could have used the space taking up my yard for more productive things like a boat for me .

    It is compulsory with all concrete to mark it with your own personal stamp (boot, hand or other body part!)

    Well done lads, another tonne of type 1 under that insulation would have saved on ballast. Alex could have got that ballast under cover before the rain came, instead he’s been your camera man. Perhaps invest in a tripod.

    Lot of people mentioning that the doors were wasted. What a nightmare trying to sell them or even give them away. Nobody ever wants them just end up lying around and end up as garden art🤣😅🤣

    Take the superficial area say, 4m2 take the thickness say 120mm then times it by 2. 4 X 120 X 2 = 960 so you would need just under a tonne

    What a waste of a perfectly good double glazed door and front porch window set.. Surely that was worth keeping and reusing do someone a good turn they get it cheap and you make money also when reinstalled..

    Why do you always concrete the floors i would just match the wood floor in the existing house. That is why the dpc is low because it is under the joists. I prefer wood floors as easy to put wires and pipe under plus bloody hate concrete. Good video again lads

      We have just done a job for someone who bought some quite new timber french doors and we re modelled the back of the house to fit the new doors 🧱👍🏽

    Because the main door is being replaced with an internal grade door. Doesn’t it now mean it needs to meet building regs? Ie 100mm celotex in the floor and 100mm cavity’s???

    Hate concrete just had 3.5 cube pumped in for footings on a 3m x 4m area , £530 on concrete inc vat n waiting time + £350 pump cost. They done it in under a hr cleaned n gone. Were in the wrong game.

    A curb ball always hits you when you don’t expect it and I could tell Steve was really annoyed everything is on your shoulders always adds bit on when ordering concrete you have a skip for access no matter what the cost your good at your job and shouldn’t be watching every penny obviously pride is a big thing when pricing ooops 😀😀😀

    How can anyone have a disaster with 4 sq meters? I'm guessing 🤔 but looks like house 70s 80s timber chipboard flooring cavities on main building 50mm No insulation, your face bricks don't look a good match, hope you match the joints as don't look like your bucket handle! your be stuffing your cavity with insulation and the roof... all that plastic and polystyrene and concrete to take weight of heavy goods vehicles... am also guessing your footings are down a meter, and you will have filled with concrete from mixer
    so, we won't call it a entrance Porch but The Hot House
    poor clients for such a waste of materials but look on bright side when house is freezing 🥶 😫 just go sit in The Hot House 🏠 😜
