NIGHTMARE BRICKS BUT GREAT MATCH... CONNY CONVERSION PT1
WE ARE ON A NEW JOB UPGRADING AN EXISTING CONSERVATORY BY ADDING EXTRE BRICK AND BLOCK WORK ON BOTH SIDES TO GO FULL HEIGHT AND WRAP AROUND BY 2 BRICKS ON THE FRONT TO A NEW DOOR.
THE BRICKS ARE AN EXCELLENT MATCH BUT BLOODY AWFUL TO USE IN THR HEAT, PLUS THEY ARE NOT THE BEST QUALITY EITHER.
IN THIS VIDEO WE LOAD OUT, CHECK THE EXITING WALLS FOR LEVEL.
WE THEN PUT UP THE BLAKES PROFILES AND TRANSFER OUR NEW FINISHED HEIGHT TO EACH CORNER. WE ALSO PUT UP THE WALL STARTERS, IT WAS A HOT ONE🥵🥵...ENJOY

The young guys don't understand that hearing never comes back. When it's gone, it's gone forever. They should try wearing ear plugs for a whole normal day to see what their not-so-far-away future will be like.
To be fair Alex is usually very good and reminds me too 😬🧱👍🏽
Is a 2 brick pillar ok for building regs. We get made to do 3 brick pillars or put goal posts in by our local building inspector when doing a new build extension or a existing alteration. Your work is always spot on and enjoy all your videos.👍
Cheers Carl 🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
Excellent work lads & compliant to building regs. Should last at least 100 years barring an earthquake, hurricane or tsunami. 😉🤭🤫🐟🐟🐟
😉🤣🧱👍🏽
The sound of a combi drill on hammer is horrific. Cant you get milwaukee to send you an sds especially if youre not going to wear ear defenders. Ive been using power tools for over 20 yrs and never botgered with ear protection on my younger days too
A lovely 12 v one arrived today, nice, light and compact.
Al does usually wear his ppe 👍🏽🧱
If I could go back in time and smack me around for ruining my hearing and having to live with tinnitus, I'd gladly do it.
Of course you couldn't tell me a damned thing when I was a genius in my 20's......🙄
Same here . Invincibility only happens in the movie 😫🧱👍🏽
The bricks and blockwork are a really neat job. Still struggle to understand when you are working out the gauge.
Thanks Richard . It can be confusing 🧱👍🏽
old school here wish we had those lazers and profiles in my day makes it so much easer well done steve and alex
So good James . We are recent converts 👌🏼🧱🧱👍🏽
I watched from your countdown until the end very enjoyable Steve. Alex is certainly giving you a run for your money Steve he is getting a lot quicker on the trowel its nice to see you having a better build lets hope it stays that way and the brick demons dont rear their ugly heads. All the best as always regards Ken
Thanks Ken , definitely 😁🧱👍🏽
Top work. Reminds me I only ever used to do 1/2 mix as my bricklaying too slow, before the days of youTube 😊. Perhaps try a hand water sprayer on the bricks (dipping too much faff).
🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽😉
Re dry bricks.... Why didn't you hose them?... On another note... I'm old school... Back in 1976 (Drought UK and stand pipes etc.) The amount of stick we got from the public ( as they passed by) for using a standpipe and wetting bricks in order to make them lay-able.. It was a 9" boundary wall in a shopping centre..
I used to do that all the time but it can cause really bad efflorescence 😬🧱👍🏽
You have a great work ethic lads none of this half day biz and you work saturdays, fair play
Thanks pal 🧱👍🏽
If the brick socks the water out of the mortar so fast, does it weaken the ultimate strength of the mortar? Would it make sense to pre-wet the bricks?
It can do . Wetting the bricks can cause efflorescence 😬🧱👍🏽
Hi Steve and Alex, great video as always 👍 I have always worn good quality ear muffs and plugs, but with the constant 2 stroke engine noise I now have constant tinnitus. It's not nice and has greatly reduced my hearing in my left ear.
No I have it too, it ain’t fun 😢🧱👍🏽
Hi Steve &Alex. Nice looking job. Brick’s definitely a good match. Have a good end to the week guys 👍
Cheers John boy 🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
Interesting project and thankfully you are not being fried, one of those you wait till end and then binge watch. Love the Milwaukee brand and its good to see them being used un UK, was a pain importing.
😁👌🏼🧱👍🏽
Hello ,Steve and Alex I am still watching all your videos you are both doing a great job as always keep up your good works .
Nice one Colin 😁🧱👍🏽
You two guys make a great team, lovely to see Father and Son working so well together. Hope you get some good news soon re your hip Steve, makes me wince every time I see you on and off the 'Step-Ups'. And you are so right in getting Al to put ear defenders on, hearing is just like your teeth, once it's gone, it's gone! Thank you for taking so much time and effort in producing the videos Steve, you are doing a good job!
Cheers Dave . Pr op beginning of august 🥳🥳🧱👍🏽
Nice job for you guys makes a change hope all good.👍👍👍😎😎😎
😁🧱👍🏽
Well me hearing is going I would appreciate it if you turned the volume up on your camera as we can turn it down but can’t turn it up any louder. Thank you for the content
👌🏼🧱👍🏽
The bricks look like reject commons, Jacksons bricks used to make them years ago £80 a thousand
They are shite 😞🧱👍🏽
say so as often as ya like lots of singers do. songs with the words "so" in in them, and i love you so, so long mary anne, so bye bye miss american pie, so lonely so lonely, so this is Christmas, so if ya want ta make the world a better place take a look at yourself and make that change, and so on no pun intended
😆😆🧱👍🏽
how the hell did they get that bag of sand round there and the mixer and i wish I would have worn ear defenders when I was a DJ in the 60s and i like that new line holder thanks for the video
Cheers Eddie ….. trade secret 🤫 🤣🤣🧱👍🏽
i reAlly like them bricks how far you book jobs ahead steve with costs rising so much
We don’t book too far ahead . 🧱👍🏽
You both need a G-Shock 😂😂😂😂 and also, were those bricks very dry 😂😂😂😂 and lastly, how did they get that big bag of sand round the back 😂😂😂. ,👍🧱
🤔😏🧱👍🏽
Fab boys. Love your vids and you guys do a great job. Boss brickys👍
Cheers Terry 🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
Excelente trabajo saludos 👍👌🧱⚒️👏
👏🏽👏🏽🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
Could you not soak the bricks in water before use to make them less thirsty, or is there a downside to that?
It does make it easier but there is an increased risk of efflorescence 😬🧱👍🏽
Sorry I missed the live, that brickwork looks lovely😊
No worries Tom thanks 🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
Great demo of dry bricks soaking up mortar. Is the narrow cavity allowed because the existing is narrow? Thats imperial bricks i guess. Good to see next episode. Thanks 🙏
We followed existing so extra insulation needs to be added inside 🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild Interesting 🧐Thanks for the reply.
😁🧱👍🏽
Do you not use plasticiser in the mix ?to keep it pliable
Absolutely!👌🏼🧱👍🏽
Love the videos, helps to understand what has to be done when building!! One question i have to ask, when you walked down the side,it showed not a lot of room to get things through,so how the heck did the 1 tonne bag of sand get taken round the back as it appears to be no way of having it delivered and taken off with a Hi-Ab?
Thanks pal .
VIc and Shaun the lads we worked for got everything round for us through next doors side and took out a fence panel 👌🏼🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild AHH that makes sense!!!LOl
😁🧱👍🏽
Check your watch Steve 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah just checking my Rolex ⌚️🤣🤣🧱👍🏽
great work guys, i see mr ross was late AGAIN
Thanks Pat 😆😆🤣🧱👍🏽
Lovely job good jobs them. Steve see the Blake’s profiles once ya set them up the small stabiliser clip do you use that all the time or needed all the time. Just bought 4 blacks and them fitz brick clips for which look great. Thought your man to ask as you props first UA-cam using and has never detoured onto anything else. Box profiles good at times pointing in behind not ideal. But 1 a can be faffed setting bits of battens etc up nonsense don’t need that with Blake’s. Box 1,s would use shorter box or once a few make sure good part was clamped onto 8-10 course brick less chance movement. Be interesting with Blake’s when get a chance to use. Got the £340 am sure nice paint job on them job. Guys that sell them really good to deal with.
Love our Blake’s ❤️❤️😍😍🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild
Do you need to use the small stabiliser clip much buddy ?
Every 6 then slide up and repeat . Just keep checking which is good practice anyway 🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild
Cheers buddy. 🤙🤙
🤜🏽🤛🏽🧱👍🏽
Another great video lads 👍🏻
Ta Barry 🧱👍🏽
Fine work guys👏
Thanks mark 🧱👍🏽
What is the name of those bricks please?
Sorry pal don’t know, we didn’t but them .
😬🧱👍🏽
Most blake profiles i see have the ends chopped off 😂 nightmare to set up.
Ends chopped off 😳? 🧱👍🏽
Easiest thing in the World to set up.
@@bricklayersworldwithandy6277 I disagree, not as easy as box profile and a clamp.
@@lessismore83009 easier to fit, easier to plumb no messing about with packers and you can joint up behind them.
Blakes are way better than box section . You don’t need a barrow full of weird clamps to stabilise them either . Had mine 36 years .
Box section alright for solders and as a dead man .
🧱👍🏽
Nicely done chaps
Cheers Steve 🧱👍🏽
Looks good Steve
Cheers John 🧱👍🏽
Looks bomb proof.
😁🧱👍🏽
Bricks aren't structural, that's wrong 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why is that funny ?
@@SteveAndAlexBuildI get the joke - he's taking the mickey out of a comment somebody made on your last video stating that "blocks aren't structural and are an unreliable method of building".
Ah Ed the bell end , yea I know the one 😆🧱👍🏽
My watch comment has got you both rattled. 4 times you've mentioned it. Let it go it'll tear you apart.😅
We like to highlight the stupid comments ⌚️⏱️👀
If you and the boy were sponsored by Rolex you'd both be wearing one don't worry about that.
Don’t like Rolex . Vulgar status symbols. Our sponsors are relevant to our channel and our job .
We don’t wear watch’s for work, not sure if you’ve noticed ?
@SteveAndAlexBuild That's my point. You should be laying bricks instead of digging around all the time. Obviously you've done it to reply to my comment when it's 10am in England when you should be making hay when the sun shines, so they say. Don't reply to my comment until you knock off work. Time is very relevent to bricklaying as you we'll know. Your forever asking your boy what the time is when you just said what the time is. Crack on, sending love from Western Australia 🇦🇺
Making assumptions…. . We aren’t in work today .
It’s obvious we will never agree so let’s just leave it here
