That's an awesome machine. I have never even thought of an Isignia VXR, but watching this review I want one! 😀 just feels and looks like a proper drivers car, before all this crazy electric stuff. A nice sounding subtle V6, manual gearbox and elegant but sporty looks! Nice to have you back. Your reviews a brilliant. 🙂👍

@@adailydaughter6196 Vauxhalls are very underrated. The Astra and Insignia in particularly. An Astra is in most cases, a better fit than a pointless SUV! 😊

Great review. Recently picked up a 2016 red supersport tourer unlimited (mid life crisis). Covered less than a 1000 miles so far but cannot help smiling like a naughty schoolboy whenever I press the loud pedal. I keep reading/watching reviews as I cant believe I actually bought the car. It wasn't on the list!!

@@DreamCarGarage1 To be honest I liked your review as it came from a proper person rather than a ex racing driver or a press journo with an axe to grind. All motors have pros and cons. If I had gone on most reviews other than Autocar I would have run a mile. I got the car from a Merc dealer who put a 12 month warranty on it. If something is going to give it will likely be in 12 months so I feel pretty relaxed about things. Well done mucker. A man who has owned an M3 but isn't a badge snob. Keep it up.

You have to use the phone Jack's in the compartment behind the middle console flip them out & plug your phone in to listen to music on your phone my friend.

To me, the side profile looks a bit like the E60 BMW 5 series. That motor makes it a real sleeper too. Nice job👍🏾

Vauxhall hasn't built a car in over 70 years.
That's an Opel engineered car with GM parts.
It was also sold as a Buick in NA and China

This car disappointed on launch due it's standard production engine tune only giving low torque until high revs. A 0-60 time of 6.2 seconds was not going to set the world on fire. A simple @£500 remap can inflate the torque curve massively at lower revs. It may only yield an extra 30 or 40bhp but in the mid range it can be a real thumper and a total revelation to drive. Why Vauxhall released it in such a limp state of tune is a mystery?.

The Insignia VXR is very nice and good car, but Vauxhall has not done anything to that car, it's an Opel Insignia OPC (Opel Performance Center) with the steering wheel on the 'wrong side' as we sweds say it, it is even produced in Germany..

You can't stream music in the Insignia from 2008 and 2013. The non Nav systems (CD300 and CD400) and the various Nav systems (CD500 Navi, DVD800, Navi 600 and Navi 900) don't have A2DP which is needed in order to stream music. The only Bluetooth available is a hands free phone system that has voice activation and synchs your contacts.
Only the facelift Insignia from 2013 allows you to stream music with Navi 900 IntelliLink 2.0. Apple Carplay and Android Auto came in 2016 with Navi 900 intellilink 2.5.

As I own one, I love it but I ended up with a lemon not long after purchase. Timing chain replacement which required parts from Germany which took an age and then the day after I got the car back the clutch and flywheel failed!
I wouldn't change it for anything in the world though.

I've never run either of those cars long term, but I will say that the VRX is a very thirsty car, and to be honest, not a very reliable one either. But when it works, it's glorious.

That's what you get when a reviewer hasn't driven a real performance car. Insignia vxr is woefully slow for the power it's engine produces, poorly built and it's handling is a joke.
"This car is fast" 😂 clueless.
Even the lower range focus ST of the same era with it's fwd and less power is a much more engaging car to drive and feels like it wants to be driven. A basic, entry level 3 series feels like it's from a different planet compared to this thing. Anyone who thinks this is a good performance car hasn't driven or owned a good performance car.
On the plus side I do like the looks. It's aged very well in my opinion. I did own a vxr estate for around 14 months as a run around/car for the dogs but even remapped it remained disappointing. I like a bit of performance so even a third car for the dogs and odd jobs has to have some pull. Switched to a 335d xdrive which is infinitely better in every way.

You have to compare prices here, When the insignia came out price new it was £30,000 up to around £35,000 with options. Your BMW new costs £41,000 up to £53,000 with options. The BMW looks pretty dull too, Insignia looks really sporty.
