I never had a bootleg dvd but only fond memories of watching the Teardrops play Wilder on the OGWT in 82. Why that has not been repeated by the beeb I cannot understand . I'd love to see it again , especially all the singles and the great dominions at the end.
The Teardrop Explodes' 1981 album Wilder is a love song to Khaled. Songwriter Julian Cope said it was a love song to her "cos I thought she was so beautiful. But I know that the whole thing was like bad news."[
In the 80s I ran a bar in EC1 very close to a recording studio and met Troy who was at the mixing stage of one of his solo albums - not sure which one. He invited me to hang out with him in the studio a couple of times over the week. Was cool and Troy is a really nice guy
Always loved this version, thanks! Have you got any of the 1982 Old Grey Whistle Test special? I had a bootleg DVD but it won't play any more! Cheers again.
Eringw1979 but the vicious oppression of the Palestinian people hasn't caused any emotional scars? You remind me of the people crying about how Mandela was a "terrorist" because of those who died in the fight for FREEDOM for the South African people, just as the heroic Leila fought for FREEDOM for her people. Meanwhile, in the name of greed the US and Israel leave no only emotional scars, but millions of deaths, in the name of empire and hate.
Dascommunist, where does it say, in my comment, that any1 got hurt? I KNOW there weren't any PHYSICAL injuries but there were many EMOTIONAL ones! How dare you call me a liar, my grandfather was 1 of the last people off the plane cuz he was helping every1 else off (he was a pilot &knew the emergency evac procedures so he made sure every1 got off the plane safely b4 he got off. And let me clarify, he was NOT the pilot on THIS flight, he was a PASSENGER. Continued.....
2 Arab men can legally marry in Israel in 2022. If Leila and her buddies succeeded in "liberating" Palestine, gay marriage would happen maybe a thousand years after. Maybe.
I am not a heartless person, I feel for all of the Palestinians that have been going through hell for so long, there has been so much death & destruction. But I don't agree with those tactics, and obviously THEY didn't either cuz they stopped doing it. I don't pretend to know how to end this awful war, but I CANT accept that the hijacking had any positive impact on their cause.

Great to see the live version of one of my favourite songs - especially with the extra 'ad lib' bits.
