Wow! Totally remember this. Saturday morning in bed, watching Noel Edmonds presenting Swap Shop! If I recall Edmond's, liking the Teardrops, was the first to have them perform live on TV. Loved them ever since then! Sorry if I got that info wrong, but pretty sure that was the case. Still an awesome band.
@@tonymack66 Actually just seen that. Should check before making any comment, but you got there before I had the chance to change what I had posted. Cheers mate. The first time on the BBC perhaps?
Depending on what month this was in 1980 I was 8 or 9! I liked Reward and remember that video more vividly than much else - and remember liking Julian's swagger. That tape is a precious archival item - I bet if it was taped at the BBC it was wiped ages ago. It's a shame tapes degrade. I am so glad when I find much loved material (I know I recorded on old VHS) on youtube, and discover things I have not seen before too. Does anyone know if a promo video was ever made for Passionate Friend? Were there too many squabbles by then?
I wouldn't be too surprised, either, if this footage has been wiped by the BBC long ago. The quality ain't great, but it was my first try at uploading from VHS tapes and I should've bought better software and cables in hindsight. There was no promo for 'Passionate Friend', but they did perform it twice on Top Of The Pops with Balfe playing bass on one of the appearances after the sackings ofJeff Hammer and Alfie Agius ,respectively.
@@tonymack66 Yes, I've watched the performances. For myself, the great footage on youtube is the time machine I always wanted to go to gigs I missed etc...due to being too young st the time
The Teardrop Explodes I feel were a completely underrated band. Every track they did that I keep hearing over the years always gets me. So darn FAB!
Kilimanjaro is such a great album. I still play it today after all these years.
40 years on and still sounds amazing
42 now and yes you're ✅️
Thanks Tony. Love tour stuff. It's always a pleasure.
Another little diamond from the teardrops
I love this song so much! So neat to finally see a video to it! Underrated band!

Their first live TV appearance was on the Granada TV show 'So It Goes' when they performed 'Camera Camera' in 1979.

It kills me that Echo and the Macmen eclipsed them.
Comparing apples to oranges
