- Sevenoaks station was opened in 1868, but when it was opened it was originally named Tubs Hill in regards to the adjacent area of the station. The area was served by two stations, the second one was located on the the branch line to Swanley Junction and was named after a local tavern, which has since closed.
The main and branch lines were both electrified in 1935, it is worth noting that the Southern and Southeastern networks were the first in the uk to be electrified, and at a very early stage seeing as every other railway in the country was working with steam engines. Although I know which one I would prefer.
The station went through a phase of getting reconstructed and in the 1970s the old South Eastern Railway ticket office was demolished and replaced with the structure that we see today.
The station up until 2003 was served by Connex South Eastern but they were eventually removed due to a mixture of poor operating performance and poor financial management.
Sevenoaks is a busy station and one that I would happily come back to at a later stage.
My next station is going to be Dunton Green.

Hi Tornado922. Great film at Sevenoaks. Looking forward to watching the next film at Dunton Green. Kind regards, Chris.
Thanks very much!
Really enjoyed that, thanks for sharing! Great commentary and camera work :)
Thank you kindly
I also went to the Leighton Buzzard Narrow-Gauge Railway in your former home town on Wednesday the 10th of April 2024.
I hope you had a great time there

It's my local train station too. Im the local train spotter there lol. I live in Sevenoaks as well
Excellent video. Nice one. Hope you had a great weekend. 😀
Thank you kindly
Good video, only been to Sevenoaks twice ever but it's an enjoyable station to watch trains. Didn't know that 707's (as seen at the start) were now on the Charing Cross to Sevenoaks services, thought it was only the 465/466's
This would be my first visit to this station and I found it to be very enjoyable throughout. You certainly get a good variety of traffic coming into and out this station
Great video mate! Need to revisit Sevenoaks at some point as last time I was there I managed to catch some freight through there 😊
Thanks very much bud, you got lucky getting some freight through here. During my entire time on the SEML I've only managed to get one freight train.
Thanks for the video buddy 😊
Southeastern trains always seem filthy. 😅
I really do believe this company don't know what a train washer is lol
Good film at Sevenoaks

Yh more trains than one company

Thanks very much
I do love the Class 465s with the 466 that which has 6-10 coaches
You do get some good variety on this section
You are nearly in the southeast London area, just a couple more stations to go until you reach Orpington.
It's been a long old journey to get this far that's for sure
In the peak thameslink run 1 train to welwyn garden city via London Blackfriars
Ah right ok
I ask was it worth it in the end? I do hope lessons have been learn't the hard way
As I have said from the word go, I will give each mainline a few run. Even if it means going to stations with next to no variety just to allow them to get covered, now in an ideal world I would have loved it if at every station I went to there was something unique or interesting to be seen but that just isn't how the world works. Now what I have learnt throughout my travels on this line is that there are several stations that I will never be coming back to.
Jarred how are you
Not to bad thanks, you?
