Thank you so much for having me, Steven! Proud of you for getting back in the saddle and brokering fascinating conversations.
Thanks again for coming on MBR to discuss this exciting interfaith summit!
Matthew 7:16-20 (KJV):
"Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."
So, if our fruits do indeed matter, then why can you not acknowledge that we are Christians?
@@ZadokSunzMatthew 7:15 the actual context of 7:16-23.
I am so appreciative of both of you. I was just watching Ward Radio, and they were talking so negatively about protestants. I remember you said on a video about pentecostals being like brothers to LDS. I am a pentecostal. I wish Ward Radio had a better view.
I love both of you. I am not LDS, but I love the perspective you both have. And I love how you are trying to get the truth out from both sides in a respectful way.
Glad you're feeling better Steve Pynakker.
This is how God's people will be recognised whether LDS or Evangelical John 13:34-35
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
Yes.
And the fruits are sweet and abundant!
Matthew 7: 15-20
I hope it us a _virtuous_ summit.
Didn't know you were suffering but now that I do I will be praying for you. I so glad I got to meet you through your visit on Greg Matsen's podcast. I think you are nothing short of awesome!
Krister Stendahl was a little ahead of our time as a Lutheran he spoke of making room for "Holy Envy" when comparing and contrasting differences in doctrine. He is famous for teaching the following: "When you are trying to understand another religion, you should ask the adherents of that religion and not its enemies.
Don't compare your best to their worst.
Leave room for "holy envy." (By this Stendahl meant that you should be willing to recognize elements in the other religious tradition or faith that you admire, and wish could, in some way, be reflected in your own religious tradition or faith.)"
Amen!
@@MormonBookReviews My holy envy for the moment is Amazing Grace, crossing my fingers that it gets put in our new hymnbook, it was in our 1841 Nauvoo hymnal but hasn't been in our most recent hymnbooks and despite the fact President Nelson has spoken well of it, some member in the lds church get freaked out over the simple use of the word grace and begin to go on that we need to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling as if grace takes away from personal responsibility which I don't see it doing.
