- A great example of overwatering for once! Me, the queen of under-watering! 😝. So I had to show you guys, because full, suddenly yellow leaves is a VERY common sign of overwatering on many, many varieties of succulents and other plants as well. am i the only one who finds it extremely satisfying to pull off dead leaves?
I see those and they go immediately!
All this time I thought this meant they need it more water 😱😰 I was helping them to die faster 😢. Thank you so much for this kind of videos. I want to see more videos about split rocks 😉
Your kindness can kill

The amount of information given made me feel like a pro. Thanks so much this video was so helpful!!!
I learn better when I see and discuss plants under stress and its related causes.
thank you for this video! an entire forum of succulent fans in a fb group were convincing me i had overwatered my sempervivum, but my good friend told me she actually suspected it needed MORE water. now i'm realizing its base was so so dry and crispy, and the roots were bone dry, and nothing was translucent or yellow, just some brown dried-up edges. great resource!
Isabella P semps are mostly from Northern Europe so they're used to being very wet and cold. They do best outside
my plant has crispy leaves and is overwatered and i'm just crying like What , What Do You Want From Me
plants are so picky 😭
Thank you so much for this video I was getting so worried about my new echeveria, he looked so sad and I thought I messed up and overwatered but it turns out it was just the stress from traveling from the store to my house and the difference in temperature and light.
I learn so much from the videos you make. Thank you for your time.
this is so helpful, thank you!
This was SOOO helpful I thought I was under watering because they look thin and wrinkly but at the same time they’re translucent and yellow so I was really confused lol.
I would love to see this echeverria in a bigger pot! Thanks for the info though definitely informative and answered so many questions.
00:20 I love your "Oh no" moments, they always lead to a great video!
I had this with one of my beautiful plants about a month ago, I didn't really know what was happening and it died... to bad I didn't found your channel sooner! :p
Sorry if this question is silly, lol. Why are the green, healthy leaves at the base of the plant much longer than all of the others?
Like nice information about succulent plant new friend here stay connected
Thanks!!!!
Should we remove the yellow leaves though?
Yes🌸
Excellent info 🎄Thank you, Merry Christmas🎄
That is a beautiful plant.
I noticed that this echeveria is sensitive to overwatering just like moon stones
Succulent Living by Marija, yep! I feel bad cause I used them in arrangements for some gifts, and people tend to overwater anyways, so I hope they all didn’t die on people! I didn’t realize they were so much pickier than other echeveria! I’m not a big echeveria person, so I’m not as familiar with their quirks. But this has happened only on these and none others twice. Not even the same plant, just the same variety. Good to hear I’m not crazy! These guys are just sensitive! 😋
Ashley Glassman / Ya Dig It? Yup same here! This one is one fussy echeveria! 😄
Succulent Living by Marija hi dear. Here l am AGAIN. I am stalking you lol. Wel, l read your comment and l decided to comment too. Moon stones are very fat Marija. They don't need water as often as other Succulents. I water them the same way as l do whit my Cactus.l let them dry for a long time before l water again. They wil get etiolated as wel if you give them too much water. Litle bit water and they wil love it and stay compact.
Nilza Pereira De Melo I agree! I keep them dry too!
Not true... I have plenty of Echeverias in Tera Cotta pots outdoors. In 2016 El nino Los Angeles we got slammed with rain in the winter and cold temps. Not one of my Echos rotted not one.... I was a little worried about how much water my succulents were receiving. The secret is the soil... You see out in the wild they live on and in Rock crevices high up in the Mexican Dessert and they have FAST draining soil which they do not sit in water.. So if you have fast draining soil you will not hurt them unless the temps are 78 degrees at night then the Stomata will not open and they will drown.
Question I have a Jade succulent and last week I noticed some leaves shriveling and turning brown. It was very unclear if I under or over watered those particular ones. So I touched the soil and it felt semi moist. I had only soil for succulents so I just made an executive decision removed all the soil placed instead small pea rocks for the entire media leaving only some semi moist soil and they have been doing fine. The pot does have a drainage hole. I noticed one shriveling brown leaf but it also has little small baby buds on the top.
Also the soil is around the roots only the ones that are dry I will put maybe a tbsp on water around those but only bc they all share a pot
I realize when you grow plants inside and under lights over watering can be a problem. I used to grow many succulents and cactus in my laboratory room under lights using a timer. I grew them for many years and had a nice collection. I finally decided to sell all of my collection at a plant auction and now regret it. I had many plants that are impossible to buy today. I know that watering is always a problem when growing under lights in a heated tent. I now grow everything outside in full sunlight except for some sensitive plants that are grown under a covered patio with filtered sunlight. I like to grow plants that are difficult to grow like Pediocactus, Echinomastus etc. because I like the challenge.
John, I totally agree about the lights. I never have this happen when they are outdoors! Just one of the hazards of grow lights. Usually I’m really careful and lean on the dry side, but 3 days in a dark tent after a soak wasn’t good! 😭
So sorry you let your collection go. I know I’ve let things go in the past that I later regretted. You never can tell though sometimes till after that you really should have kept something! Glad you have an amazing new collection going now with rare plants! Maybe someday you can make a video so we can all see! That would be so fun! 💗💗
Which kinds of succulents require full sun? All of my babies are under the porch, it is bright but no direct sunlight. I bring them out into the sun every other day but I am afraid if I'm giving some too much sun, and some not enough. Thanks.
@@continuousself-improvement1879 You just kind of have to experiment. If you see your succulents turning red or purple, or getting sunburned in full sun, then you know it prefers shade. Most of my succulents like partial full sun. I keep them on a stand in the corner of my covered back porch, which creates shade for half the day as shadows move. Some of my succulents, like my aloes, sunburn with even a little bit of full sun, so I keep them in bright shade all the time. You just have to see how your succulents react. Each one is different.
thank you. answered alot of my issues. my mothers poor plants. god rest her soul. im killing her plants. what kind of lamps do i need? its winter here and i have no access to sunlight!
Thank you fir the tips ...
I needed this video.
Thanks, excellent info 🎄☃🎉
I have the exact same succulent with the same problem. Too bad I watered my plant before I watched this lol
Great info! 👍🏼 thanks for sharing this!
Great video. I’m propagating a succulent for the first time and documenting it on my channel, hopefully they will grow!
I overwatered this succulent too hehe 😬😂
What are the round, oval shaped wearing down of the leaf to the left of the yellow leaves?
I thought they dried up because they need more water as my soil was dried and normal plants shrivel up when they are to dry
Succulents like dry soil more but try to water a little bit not alot.
Hello so I bought my first succulent plant last Tuesday and today I wanted to repot it I haven't water it that's about it and now two of the leave started to look like the water has sorted that I think is going to start Browning I can see the water...... is it safe to go ahead and water the plant and let the other to leave that off how much sun should it get... also do you have any tips for jade plant I just bought two of those
I have a problem with one of my ghost plants they have this over water look as you showed. Although, they are in a pot with another ghost plant and a jade plant and both are perfectly fine. No matter what I do they keep loosing their leaves. If you or anyone has any information to help me that would be much appreciated.
ChimeraBun I’ve lost a few succulents in a similar manner. I’d check the stem to make sure there isn’t any rotting, because that can cause the succulent’s leaves to become mushy.
I have a succulent that shows over watering symptoms and there are also tiny bugs in the soil. Is this normal? I also saw one bigger, long bug and I removed it. What should I do?
Did your succulent survive ? My echeveria I had repotted because it was in a small pot and neglected. I had not watered the plant yet and I noticed two leaves yellowing :/ now I noticed two more bottom leaves yellowing. I haven’t even watered it but I did have the plant outside. I live in Miami and it’s been windy not sure if that has anything to do with it. Also when I repotted the plant it didn’t have a strong root system. Barely had roots. I don’t know what to do
Great video!
What is your FB page? Having a hard time finding it. 😊
Most of my Succulents are airdried so I can overwater them to make them chubby I also overwater my Aloevera to get alot of gel also I purchased succulents today they're not airdried so I will water it 1 week once beacuse it's hot in where I live
“Air dried?” What does that mean? You take it out of the soil?
Another great Video!
What do you do when the plant grows upward to a longer stalk. Do you cut it off?
Base line yes I wondering that too🤔
Ashlyn Milton they seem to have a weak flower at the tip when it does that and now they are dropping over a bit. Are those the male plant and the female sprouts the new shoots?
Base line lol I don't really know I'm still a newbie
Base line What do you mean? Do you mean if they are growing leggy and have a long stem and spaced out leaves?
Caitlyn Slade they grow like a foot tall of a stalk with sure spaced put leafs and ugly flowers at the top which have very little to no colour.
Thank you for this and sharing your knowledge and insight. For someone like myself, who appreciates in depth explanation, I am grateful. Because it helps me to actually be capable of caring for my babies. :-)
You always seem to make vids at the right moments! I have a rather large echeveria that the lower leaves are a bit puckered. Not yellow though. They've been that way for a week or so. I'm unsure if it got overwatered before I purchased it or am I not watering enough?
The Truth Of The Matter What did you do to save your plant?
Non yellow puckered leaves means you should water
I have a purple pearl echeveria and I think I over watered it. All the leaves looked healthy but they fell off without struggle when I touched them, there are a few small leaves and the top and the stem looks pretty healthy, will it grow new leaves??
Thanks! for info🌼🌸🌺
One of my plants got caught in a shower storm.
Is this an Echeveria pulindonis?
I have the same succulents, I haven’t watered them in a while and they are under low light by my window but for some reason they are still swelling up, turning yellow and falling off. Even some non yellow leaves from the top are falling off and I’m worried what I might be doing wrong. I changed the soil too but the leaves keep falling
Blurryink, Succulents need really bright, direct sunshine for quite a few hours a day, so if yours are in low light that may be the issue. Leaves often swell and fall off when a plant isn’t getting intense enough sunlight to help transpire excess moisture out of the leaves. Do you have a sunnier window you could put them in? Don’t increase the light too drastically/quickly as they can get sun damage if not exposed gradually to more strong sunlight. But that would be my best guess from your description is they need more intense sunlight. 💗
Ashley Glassman / Succulent Alchemy thank you! But no I don’t have a brighter window, I’ve actually had these succulents since March and kept them in the same window since then and they’ve been just fine, they even got some direct sunlight for a couple hours too every other day or so but they just randomly started falling leaves recently. I have a south facing bay window
Do I pull the yellow leaves out?
Yes. Be sure to get the whole leaf.
@@38harpstrings thank you
What does it mean when the bottom leaves go soft and wrinkly
It means it needs water
What is the name of this succulent?
Its Echeveria i think
on the bright side, I believe the plants will recover and be stronger after the very long, wet night
PS, you can also get a "tray" full of gravel and add water almost up to the top, but not quite, then let the tray eveprate and it's as good as misting
Mine died .
Mine too
Hi . What is this plant name please ?
Echeveria
I find you can't water sicculents, but you can mist them😁👍
Misting as a watering method isn’t great in most environments for the long term health of succulents, but if you live in a humid environment it can keep them healthy! And if you’ve found it keeps your succulents healthy in your area long term that’s awesome! , I don’t usually recommend it in most areas long term. And here in Idaho it isn’t enough to keep them happy for sure. Some of the more tropical epiphytic succulents can be happy with just being misting, but deep watering definitely works best for most succulents, just infrequent deep watering. In this case this just happened because of a grow light malfunction just after a watering, but I figured it might be helpful to show as overwatering is often an issue with beginners! Glad to hear you’ve found some methods that work great for watering your succulents! Thanks for the comment, and Happy Growing! 💗
Too much talking
Kevin Wilson what,is she supposed to keep her mouth shut and just record the plant.
