  • In this video, I talk about knowing when to water succulents by understanding the conditions of their leaves, based on whether it is overwatered, or underwatered. Knowing the signs of underwatered and overwatered succulent leaves is crucial to help keep our succulents healthy, and avoid succulents from rotting. #whentowatersucculents #succulentoverwater #succulentrot

    Knowing the difference of what is and isnt a normal looking stem has proved tricky...corking,fungi, or rot .. not the best at cuttings so its a death sentence either way. This vid helps to point out other signs I may not of noticed such as the tips of the leaves. Some vids say look for clear and mushy leaves but rarely note drying at the ends being an indicator of dryness. Thank u

    Thanks for mentioning about this video in your reply to my comment on ep #19. I should've watched this weeks ago so it wouldn't be too late to rescue my succulent. Now I know what I must do when I overwater a succulent for many days. Tbh I was really shocked as to why it happened to a Black Prince succulent (afaik they're easy to take care of so they're "survivors"). There's a rot hiding inside the stem. It's much better to underwater than to overwater because it can cause rot. I gotta get a better soil mix next time that dries quickly in case of another rainy week. Thank you so much for sharing all these information in your channel!

    • @TheseSucculentBuddies
      @TheseSucculentBuddies  2 роки тому +2

      You are always welcome. I've had E. Black prince before and actually stopped buying them. They seem to be prone to rot when not fully established in their pots yet. The stem is darker than other echeverias, which can make rot hard to spot early at times. They are sensitive to excess water when not fully acclimated to humid environments. Don't feel so bad, it happens to all of us. We learn each time one of our succulents pass. Good luck with the next one. 😊

I bought many different succulents and i already have many rotten. Probably over watered before i buy them. I'll try to follow your advice, see the roots and cut them if needed. I also found one of them with a white powder (fungus) that has spread over another succulent closed to it. I cut the leaves that were falling easily and isolated them. Thank you! Best video showing the diff between underwatering and overwatering!
    I have a succulent where the bottom leaves are still quite firm but some of the middle leaves are limp and losing their plumpness. Is this also a sign of underwatering or something else?

    • @TheseSucculentBuddies
      @TheseSucculentBuddies  2 роки тому +3

      It may be a sign of too much heat. Depending on the conditions provided, mine normally dry up like yours in between when they have been put too close to grow lights, or left out too long in direct hot sun. Maybe take off a dry leaf or 2 to observe the stem. If all is good, it probably just needs a little more shade and less time under the sun. This also happens when water has sat in between the leaves and caused the leaves to start rotting. If that's the case, just be sure not to let water sit and make sure to observe that part of the stem where the leaves are dying. 😊💚

    I have my succulents for almost 2 months now, but haven’t watered them since. And since they’re still alive, I’m afraid to water them. I don’t wanna kill them. I heard people who haven’t watered them in a year. They still look healthy, but do you recommend to water them? For example when it gets more warm outside? And what do you recommend for cactuses? I never watered my cactuses and have them for like 6 months now.. they look perfectly healthy

    • @TheseSucculentBuddies
      @TheseSucculentBuddies  3 роки тому

      The cacti, if they are still healthy, you can wait to water till its warm outdoors and you bring them out. You will also see wrinkling and they will feel soft when they need water just like other succulents. For the rest of them, if the leaves are still firm and full of water, theres no need to water. Refer to the leaves I was showing in the video of when they need to be watered. The bottom leaves are what you want to look at and get a feel for. Hope that helps. 😊

      Is it watery like in the video for my example of the overwatered leaf? If it is, and the soil is still wet you can pull the whole thing out, soil n all for a day or 2 to let it dry. If its newly potted, but you have not watered, then it's just normal.

      Hi Julie! I'll have a video out soon on how much I water succulents depending on the condition they are in and how long you've had them. Gotta wait for some of mine to get thirsty then I'll film. 😊

    How to save succulent if the succulent overwater while the weather is low? Did I need to put it indoor or what?

    • @TheseSucculentBuddies
      @TheseSucculentBuddies  3 роки тому +3

      Best thing to do is to pull it out of the pot and check the stem if there are signs of rot. If no rot, just simply let it dry out of the pot for 2-3 days then plant in new dry well draining soil.

    What do you do if you’ve watered an overwatered succulent? Do you just let it sit until it goes back to normal?
    And what do u do if you can’t see the stem?🥲
