This is not only my favorite Front Mission but one of my favorite games of all time! I stayed up for like 5 days with no sleep playing this when I was like 15 lol
This is also one of my favorite games of all time and I was also 15 when it came out. My little sister watched me play this game for like 24hrs one straight one summer because we were both hooked on the amazing story.
If not for that stupid ejection mechanic, I would agree. Especially after the slogs that were Front Mission 4 & 5, but I really do hate Kazuki. The guy is easily the worst protagonist I've ever encountered.
@@LookBackGaming I thought the ejection mechanic was spicy, if otherwise entirely pointless. Sadly have never played fm5 due to localization and I never figured how to emulate, or the ds games. Borderscape looks decent, a notch above fm4. It's not a series that has ever done a phenomenal job imo, though it's on its own league regarding the genre, format and lore.
I would tend to agree regarding the quality of the series. I do have a lot of gripes with how they are balanced and mechanics and I've definitely played better SRPGs. In any case, Front Mission 1 & 2 are getting remakes for the Switch and both are coming to the west. I am looking forward to finally being able to play 2 with an actual finished translation. You also might want to check out a game called Mech Armada on steam. I haven't got around to playing it myself yet, but the reviews are good. Might scratch that mech itch for you.
@@LookBackGaming thanks for the recommendation! The only thing that got close for me has been Into the Breach, but even then, it's too limited. I cannot * wait * for fm1&2 remakes. Almost died when someone told me we're barely on the second day of summer. We need a specific date!!
I used to play this game everday during our year-end school holiday. Unlockced all secrets, which is rewarding indeed. This game is the best! Its soundtrack is really fits the vibe of FM3.
This was the first Front Mission game I ever played thanks to my late uncle sharing his copy with me. Since then I’ve loved the series and especially Front Mission 3z
Post playthrough wisdom: You should only focus on ROFUPI, Skill+1 and Eject Punch. The activation, combo rates and effects on everything else is way too inconsistent and lack luster to be good. Yeah, Firing Squad, Double Shot and the various smashes are cool but even with high activation computers, you might get a dozen or so actually useful activations per playthrough whereas you'll probably get a dozen activations and combos of the mentioned skills in a single mission if you were stacking them. You can see just how consistently busted eject punch is during the final part of the USN campaign. If I were to redo this (I won't) I would bite the bullet and spend time grinding in the simulator to get these skills as soon as they become available.
You can use ap -30% as a trigger for other skill, especially rofup and melee skill. I believe using the standard wanzer instead of combining parts can trigger them more times too
Damn, shame. I never got to play this game and truly appreciate it. Thank you for doing this long gameplay. The story is very interesting and intriguing. 👍🏽👍🏽💪🏽💪🏽
If you keep pressing triangle, square, and X (any order, any pattern) during battle sequence, the skills will activate often especially with Ryogo, like 90% of the time.
Ah my first storyline of this game. This is bad ending for me (Isao and Alisa both died). Since I learn to play Alisa storyline (Emma is still alive in ending), never looked back here hehehe. too bad FM4 and FM5 didnt have 2 storylines like this one. Alisa Story FTW!
I've honestly come to believe that some of the characters, including the main one, who are unlikable is mainly due to the limited amount of portraits and emotions, and the overuse of "!?" in the text. It is clear from context in the beginning that there's supposed to be this friendly banter with Ryogo, but since the portrait is just him just screaming every time it comes off as weird and unlikable.
As of this comment, I've only watched the first half hour, and oh man, the MC REALLY is annoying and unlikeable lol But I do like the style of the game, so I plan to keep on watching
Yeah, THIS GAME SUCKS. The music's good, though. The FIRST Front Mission is still the best one, even after all these years.. REMEMBER that all words expressed here are IMHO and GET OUT if you can't handle that. Please and thank you.

This is still the best mainline front mission in the series, and they're all pretty good. I'm with the folks who wish this got remastered.

Played this one to death back in the day. This game was far ahead of its time.. Still looks great too!
I've never noticed that when your shots hit buildings, they create permanent bullet holes. That's actually a hella nice detail in a game this old.

Looking forward to the remake! Played through both storylines at least 3 times in recent years. Always fun to try to aim for the platinums

Man i miss this game!
I still have my Ps1 CD, but now I’m playing on my PC Emulator.
I really wish they would remaster this for the ps4, this and Front Mission 4
Front Mission Four is my favorite game.
Did you play the fan translated Part 5? It's better than 4
I hope they remastered all of FM games. It's must be sick.
@@wildannandawicaksana5004 your wish has been granted sir!
Switch did remaster 1 i believe, it looks like the Nintendo DS version so far
gang beating, rofup III,salvo and body smash skills is so good...

I was wondering what was missing on 4 & 5, it was the winning pose! I hope they had that.

FM3 was my first, the first and second remakes have these stupid short range weapons and all combat looks like a freaking melee at all times

Gotta resist watching this they putting this on the Nintendo switch soon
Sad there is no sequel for This game😢
