It is unfortunate that sewing and tailoring skills have been lost. Luckily, Arne and Carlos are helping to keep fiber arts alive and thriving.

“We film when we feel like it” ❤ I love that it’s authentic because it’s a snippet into real life, not a staged video where you’re prepping every detail in advance to appear a certain way on the internet. Those kinds of staged videos warp people’s minds into believing that someone’s life can truly be perfect, even when it’s not. Perfection is never the goal, authenticity is. ❤❤❤❤ love you guys so much. ❤❤❤

I love it when you get your Barbie out LOL! I hope Barbie gets a new cruise wardrobe. The 1952/53 Parisian elegant patterns are gorgeous. I would love the white dress with the blue stripes. I have a Lutterloh folder full of patterns from the early 1960's. I loved the drawings but never got around to making any of the dresses. It was impossible to choose one, they were all beautiful. I can't wait to see how the quilt progresses. I vowed I would never do another hand sewn quilt but you both inspire me with your quilting shenangians so I started saving fabric scraps. So many projects, so little time! I love you guys so much.

Hello! My favorite part of SAKFAB is hearing about what is inspiring you 😊. Today I’m actually starting a pair of socks with yarn my husband picked out. It was only his second time in a yarn shop…. and he completely fell in love with a fabulous blue sock yarn. I was delighted to see it was from “Arne & Carlos”. I am hoping he will be inspired to learn to knit!

Just love your very diverse conversations and your creative abilities.
I mostly watch your videos on TV, but not able to comment, so I go to my cellphone.
Love the gorgeous dresses the you presented in those French Pattern books.
And the attention to detail that Arne displays in the gowns he creates for his Barbie doll clothing is exquisite.
And those magnificent quilts that you both create out of cloth remnants. You both our extremely talented people.
I shall continue to watch and enjoy your wonderful videos.

I love you guys so much! It's been SO hot here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was 105° yesterday, will be 103 today. So I've been laying in bed with my little dog, she's my baby, and watching videos 'cause I'm too lazy in this heat to do anything. Then I saw your new video and my heart jumped with joy. So here I am, in bed with the air conditioner on full blast and relaxing watching you. Thank you for making my HOT day better. ❤

I was so happy to see Barbie in your video boys. 😊 I went to see the live action Barbie movie on opening night, I dressed up, I made Barbie an outfit to wear, I took her with me and took photos. The movie was brilliant! I’ve been invited to go again next week, so I get to do it all again. Last night I had a mini Barbie party in my garden room. It was a lot of fun. Thank you for the discount on the socking and ball pattern. I’ve started the stocking I’m on row 23. I will be doing it as a when between your mini Nordic Jumpers.

And then suddenly, it’s over!! I’m shocked an hour has passed. I have been sitting, working away at my own project, and I wish the story telling in the episode would continue! You have truly mastered the art of reeling me in and leaving me always wanting for more💕 Such an enjoyable visit with you in your home. See you next time 👋

    Hi guys,
It is very interesting to watch you talk about the clothes for Barbie. When I had a Barbie my mother patiently sewed ALL of her clothes! They were beautifully made because my mother was a gifted seamstress. She also made a suit for Ken! I do not remember ( in detail) all of the clothes that she made for my Barbie. However, I vividly remember the cranberry velvet cocktail dress with white satin sash and a very miniature white rose on the sash. It was gorgeous!! I also remember the blue wool suit that she sewed for Ken ( even with the tiny, tiny buttonholes!) My mom was a single parent and she worked all day. She would stay up late and sew Barbie clothes for my Barbie. Elizabeth Goodrich, Texas

Your quilt is looking lovely! Have you thought about framing each 7-piece motif with a ring of hexagons to separate it from its neighboring piece? A background color to use on the whole quilt would accentuate the design of each motif. Just a thought….whatever you do will be so pretty, I know! And if you make some pieces that don’t quite go with it, you can make a pillow cover. ( I have to confess that almost every quilt I’ve started has not gotten any farther than the “enough squares for a pillow” stage…!)
I’ve had old cars for so long that I’ve had everything happen to them; my “jumpy” car turned out to have a cracked distributor cap and when it rained enough moisture got in to mess up the spark plugs. And the problem with the car that had to wait to cool down before it started again had a bad ignition coil. If you have time you might look up those parts and see if they seem to fit the description of your problems. The “shimmy” is probably related to bad tires or something not related to the engine and not what you’re actually experiencing.
Hope you had a fun trip to Oslo!

yes, shimmering could be from tyres or needs a wheel alignment; i also asked my friend who loves to do up old cars, says maybe it's a voltage issue? her wires might need redoing & upgrading; also check her carburettor, maybe her spark plugs need a clean? i think it's wonderful that you're trying to keep a gorgeous old lady going; love old VDubs, they're worthy of restoration.
      good luck

Hi amazing souls ... about 55 years ago I gave my VW bug to my brother because I got in an accident and he was 20 working for a local German mechanic. He repaired it, started his own business and built into a very successful service. He is extremely beloved by so many clients in Northern New Jersey for his ethics, go the extra yard work style, and lovable nature. He still works in retirement and can be found at many shows selling parts and vintage VW stuff of all kinds. We have been a VW family for many years since and found VW peeps to be a very lovely breed. I wish I could pack him up and teleport/send him to you to do a once over on your VW. He's seen it all.

In the late 70s I had a Sindy doll. My grandmother was a great seamstress and made her a gold brocade fitted trouser suit - and I believe she had great fun doing it, too!! I was thrilled, it was a marvellous outfit. Sadly, it's no longer around. My grandmother lived to be 100 and sewed all her own clothes until she was 95.

Loved tonights episode because I love sewing ❤ if you decide to get your kitchen painted in the future consider asking a car sprayer to do it for you, they do a very good job. They also make a microwave that combines as an oven, that would be useful in a kitchen transition and also as the future oven as it uses less time to cook food. They are more expensive than an ordinary microwave but will save on your electricity bills in the future which is worth taking into consideration. I'm so glad I'm not driving vintage cars with all their quirkiness anymore. We could only afford old charabangs when we first started to drive, they were not considered tasteful or vintage and had so many problems 😂

My car is a girl, too. She's also a VW, but not vintage like yours. And she's a Golf. Her name is Wanda - Wanda White :D Your Barbie and doll clothing design remind me of my own passion for sewing a rag doll for my niece many years ago. I used a really sweet magazine pattern I found. It turned out quite lovely and I felt proud. I enjoyed picking the fabrics for her clothes (i.e. dress and apron), the hair yarn and buttons and stuff. Barbie and I go way back, further than I should admit. My mom sewed clothes for my Barbie, too, when I was little (and the same age in years as Barbie herself ;) It was always fun to see my Barbie's clothes made from the same fabric as something my mom had on. They were not as formal and elegant as your lovely dresses, though. Whenever you say Olso, Carlos, I think of the Oh-shlow pronunciation I practiced before my trip to Norway too long ago. It was a truly enjoyable and memorable vacation for me in your beautiful country. You are both so inspiring in many creative ways! Thank you!

I love your Barbie doll dresses. Gorgeous! I think seeing the movie on a large screen in the theater would be a blast. I'd go with a friend or my daughter or even my granddaughters. The trailers are hilarious. I made a pink dress for my granddaughter's stuffed toy 'Mousy'. I used vintage pink embroidered ribbon at the top and bottom and straps as well. I used tiny vintage snaps I found in my stash (you called them press buttons) for the back closure. The lower back was open for 'Mousy's' tail. She loved it! The French books of patterns are fabulous! It's fun to see all your projects and inspirations. Thanks for the Christmas in July patterns.

My mom graduated from FIT and did some design work in foundations and bathing suits before she got married. She made a lot of my clothes and would sometimes make doll clothes from the scraps. She also never had an overlock sewing machine until much later and would do French seams on everything. (She taught me to sew and I have done a little, but I really don't like it. It's a bit too fussy for me. I much prefer to knit or crochet.) Your fashion books remind me of her portfolio sketches (her designs were more late '60s). Thanks for the nostalgia 💜

My DH’s Kharmann Ghia had a similar “shimmy & shake” symptom, and it turned out to be a loose wire on the carburetor cap. I had a '71 beetle bug back in '74, '75. I did get another in '76 they were both boys, they were both named "George" the first one was really dependable, the second one wasn't , it hated to start when it was raining. I did most of the maintenance and the repairs and used the original how to keep your colleagues alive for the complete idiot. I enjoyed working on my bug since it was so easy.
    Good luck with yours

can you someday show some ideas how you would redo a lampshade? For my refurbish thrift shop rescue, I wound a wire shade with rose quartz color wool yarn and then crocheted a large rose and suspended it on a string to land midway on the shade. Then a satin rose color bow, and the shade sits on a base of plaster roses in blush color and looks quite nice. I wondered what you would do to refurbish a lampshade having seen the lovely lamp behind you. I didn't want to do fabric, I wanted something light and soft so I chose the yarn.

I own 1959 original Barbie. My mom made a white brocade evening gown wth a black net with velvet waist detachable overskirt with beading at the bodice. Also have original dream house from 1960s.f

I love The Barbie dresses! My mother and our neighbor knitted a lot of clothes for my Barbie dolls in the 60’s. I still have the patterns from the brand named Scheepjes. Did you see the movie Mrs Harris goes to Paris? A lovely movie about couture. I think you will like it. And try to see the BBC program The sewing bee. It is such an inspirational program. Greetings from Marian

I think that your new kitchen will be lovely. I think a lovely coral & saturated teal with cream accents would compliment the Teresa's Green very well. I know it sounds like an odd combination, but I've seen a few pictures online that look great with these colors together. I know they work very well in quilts and stranded knitting. I love the calming effect of the combination. Have a wonderful day.

I was just looking through all of the Barbie clothes that my Mom made for us in the late 60"s. Amazing knit sweaters and a crocheted gown that you're really love. I wish that there were some way to share pictures with you. We're going to the Barbie movie this afternoon!
