beta builds of wii games always feel so eerie to me (no put intended) its just so interesting to me how, files are just played once on the beta and then never played again after, and how so many things are just unused but remain in hidden in the full games files. Its just a little scary to me i don't know why, the plane mode specially, like what would it have been like to live in an alternate timeline where it got into the final game of the normal wii sports, kids who grew up with that game like me, would have had completely new/different experiences it with it and its just kinda epic to me how one decision can change all of that

the old mii selection screen actually made me jump like what the fuck
The airplane mode is REALLY INTERESTING, because that looks almost like Wuhu Island or it could be and that makes me wonder if they had the idea of Wuhu Island sense the beginning of the Wii

There is beta footage of boxing and bowling on UA-cam, I have a playlist with everything I’ve found so far. I’ll definitely add this to the playlist though, it’s available publicly on my channel.

This is SUCH an epic concept to touch on, so fascinating to seeing the differences of from how the announcers were different to how the miis looked different. This is quality content. Keep up the good work dude!
Those miis are horrifying, I am so thankful for design changes made between then and the final product. I've never had such a harsh stance on whether or not a fictional character should or shouldn't have ears before.

The airplane game immediately reminded me of Wario Ware Smooth Moves, where you hold the wii mote like a plane and guide a paper airplane around in one of the mini games.
I think its possible they used the controls from the beta for that microgame.
I always liked the idea of Miis having ears as they visually change the style of the face. Let's imagine that we had 3 types of ears (round, square or triangular) and 3 sizes, so we could create 9 combinations.
It's kinda cursed in my opinion

another thing about the golf is the ball speed and the ball flight is way different in the beta. it goes slower and the launch angle is less penetrating

If you look closely, the tennis ball uses either a different design or it's the same one as we have now, except the red is blue.
The landscape for plane looks very nostalgic, even though I've literally never seen it before. It looks to be an unfinished version of Wuhu Island, or, there is an implication that this was Wuhu Island before Wii sports became popular and created the barren fields of what would soon become a full metropolis.
I really hope this build leaks some day
oh wait, even if it does it wont work on retail Wiis, since it would be expecting those early Miis

Does anyone think the textures look a lot like the Wii Sports Club ones?
The reason the miis look so different is because of the early models essentially being an lost remnant of wii sports and wii play being one complete game, originally being a pack of minigames to show of everything the wiimote had to offer. However the game was eventually split up into two projects: one foucued on sports mini games and utilizing the wiimotes motion controls and another having more causal minigames utilizing the wii pointer. Some scrapped ideas would make their way into future projects like wii music, wii party, wii fit and Nintendo land. The miis look the way they do as this was still when they were in the process of finalization and when both games were meant to be one (as wii play features similar looking miis, albeit with the lack of ears and more prominent facial features).

Do I personally think the build will surface online eventually? No and here's why. This is nintendo we're talking about and if there's any sliver of chance that we'll ever see this build again is slim to none. It honeslty may not even exist anymore, due to this being a build from the early 2000s and us knowing how neglectful companies were at preserving their data, I can definitely see this build being lost. It's one of the main reasons why we have the lost media community. However on the chance that it's somewhere on a harddrive or disk there's still no chance for it to get out because they'd have to leak it themselves or someone pn the inside will have to, and I don't see this happening because nintendo is like Disney and you don't fuck with their lawyers. The only other reasonable way I see this ever surfacing is if nintendo ever goes under snd they auction off all their assets. However I don't see this happening for obvious reasons and most of the time companies do this because they WANT the public to have all the assets or they're in dire need of money. So while I do really wanna see this build surface, I just don't see it happening or at least happening anytime in the near future. Great video tho keep it up :)
The Nintendo gigaleak back in 2020 proves that Nintendo does preserve its content, they just don't want to offer them to the public. It's possible we can get more info on the beta, but the chances of getting the actual playable beta are very low.

I think he voiced the announcer for wii sports club but he was a kid in 2006 so his voice sounds completely different in wii sports club

I really like how the old golf's shot meter design was similar to the Minna no Golf ps2 games (makes sense that they would take notes as the game was popular in japan around 2001-2006) I kinda wish they kept it

You forgot to mention that in the beta version Tennis, the side barriers and the tennis net posts have the Nintendo logo on them. In the final version, they have the Wii Sports logo on them instead.
Wii sports beta baseball field looks amazing and like the scoreboard looks like actual baseball play 9 innings instead of 3
