Great job as usual Jim. Thanks for the tip on the Johnston app, going to get it in my phone. they sure could redesign where the txv goes .what a pain to get at! thanks for posting.
Great video Jim. Very informative. Here in Zimbabwe we use Sporlan, Alco and Danfoss TXV'S. I prefer Danfoss with threaded flare nurs so much easier than unsweating. If flared well they don't leak. Enjoy your videos. Great.
Do those brazing rods call for a certain type of flux? Nice work your videos helped me fix a cooler in my moms flower shop cooler. bad fan on condensor, first time working on the smaller stuff.
I agree with you on most things you have stated here but I disagree about the frost on the compressor. I’ve seen many R404a freezer systems with frost on the compressor but at appropriate superheat for both the evaporator and the compressor. If this was a cooler I would be 100% on board with you.
I always have a spray bottle full of water nearby when brazing for fire safety and to cool the valve I use a wet piece of cloth while welding. Been using my turbo torch for almost 40 years. I also just started carrying my OXY acetylene torch again because on some repairs OXY works better.
I like to take the TXV apart and clean it with brake parts cleaner. So far I have not had to replace one just clean them. A tiny brass brush and some green brake parts cleaner (green can is non-clorinated). Put it back together and dump the old charge back in.
Hi if the rack system freezer shows compressor is iced up in suction line including accumulator does it mean technician did not adjust txv supeheat correctly? So any commercial freezer type and rack type bitzer compressor set up should not ice up in suction/accumulator if adjusted correctly Thanks
i have a question. i was trying to charge to charge a R22 systems that was low on gas ,and the suction line was frosted from the compressor all the way to the evaporator coil about 50'
was your evap iced up to start with ? was your evap coil plugged up with dirt ? is your belt on the evap blower motor tight ? you may have overcharged the system. defrost it 100%, then check your suction pressure, it should be around 60-65, your head pressure should be 225-250
Great videos jim been watching for year's. Thanks for sharing and simplifying.

Instead of using cool gel, is it possible to assemble the valve after it is brazed.

Just burnt all the seals out in that valve. Nice
Jim, why you didnt pump down the system in stead of recovery?

+sjef oekel yeah, my knees hurt, thanks
HI Jim, thanks for the video, could I ask you, how you charge the system, do you charge it according to refrigerant factory weight? thanks in advance
by high and low pressures and a sight glass
thank you Jim
Old school guy using turbo torch to blaze. Lol.
What kind of torch is that? we use oxy/acet
Turbo torch . Don't use for blazing
i have a question. i was trying to charge to charge a R22 systems that was low on gas ,and the suction line was frosted from the compressor all the way to the evaporator coil about 50'
the compressor evaporator where cover in ice but the system would not take the charge. it would not move.

Jim Pettinato
suction was low side was 5 and the high side was 120. and the system would not take the gas
was your expansion valve plugged up or bad
Jim Pettinato
i believe so
Don't need to use the silver flux to weld as you do on this video my friend
I'm sorry Jim
You still flooding back
