I have to say Katie, your videos are so clear and concise. So many videos are talk, talk, talk making them too long and frustrating to sit through. Your presentation and production value is great. Thank you
It looks good, but It would be stained within seconds at my house! This is why we can't have good things! Jk. 😂 I'd need to use leather, faux leather or vynal fabric.
Not only do you make beuatiful upcycles of furniture and teach others how to do it, you also care for those in need. Somehow it didnt really surprise me🥰 You are one of a kind ❤
I think it is so amazing that you buy furniture, refinish it and give it back to a charity or a family in need. That is so unbelievably amazing and I would support you through any affiliate links that I can ❤ Absolutely stunning makeover!
I am so thankful that you walked through the numbers if we were to flip something similar. At the same time, I am very blessed to know you’re able to give back to people in your community the way you do. 😊
People really don’t know all the work that goes into this beautiful furniture and you got my respects! I literally just want to brush the paint on my dining room and thinks that’s it! Done. But watching everything you just did.. omg! That is commitment and wisdom. Great job
What a blessing it will be to the family that receives this beautiful set. You are so thorough when you are working on each projects, so there is nothing left to do to them, only to enjoy it. God bless you more each day for What you do. I actually will be going today to pick up a set similar to this one , with six chairs which I bought off Marketplace for only $60 US dollars. This video came out just in time to help me.😊
Yes on design. Yes on craft. Yes on giving back. Yes on teaching well. Thank you for your doing such a credible job and gave me all the answers as to be how to refinish a wonderful throw away solid table from our building.
Watching from New Zealand,I love that you donate some of you’re pieces to families In need, what a wonderful generous thing to do. I love how this set turned out, very informative video and made it seem easy enough for a novice renovator! 💜
So much furniture was made better once upon a time and even if it is ugly or worn out can be so beautiful and not become landfil. I'm buying a beautiful repurposed piece this weekend and for a really good price and it's so nicely renewed. I couldn't be happier and so glad it is saved and not costing me 4 or 6x the price for a less quality piece. Love what you make and how you do it. You are a blessing.
Beautiful, this is the video I was looking for. My husband and I rescued a solid wood table with a leaf, from the roadside. Beautiful lines, but dinged up and needing restoring. I'm all about the natural and black look (I have about 5 mismatched wooden chairs, which I've repainted black, and for which I will make chair pads using a a black and white toile fabric). Also found an antique solid wood sideboard, made in Vancouver, again just being thrown out. Will probably re-do that one with a natural top and black everything else.
I purchased a round table for 4 that was very similar. The base of the table and chairs is an off white, which I love. The table top and seats are just like yours in that brown finish. That brown finish showed scratches so much! I stripped the top like you did but did not do any staining. I finished it with three layers of polyurethane. I decided to take the 24 seats to a local furniture covering business. I had my color palette with me and I asked Mr. Kamahl to help me choose a durable woven fabric. We now have covered, cushioned chairs that we love.
So glad I found this video. I have a solid wood table my Dad made for me almost 20 years ago; only problem is that it is stained a very dark red oak. I've stripped and sanded the top back to the bare light birch wood, but I planned on painting the pedestal white and the trim around the edge of the table top black. The edge is routed, and I can't get some of that dark red stain out of the crevices. Using this method, I can paint that routed edge black and use the thinned down paint method to keep that beautiful light birch wood top. I'm getting so much knowledge and inspiration from these furniture flips!
Absolutely beautiful and I know what hard work this is. I have done small pieces and to do them right it takes so much time and hard work. You make it look easy but its very taxing on the body especially to get down low and into the grooves of things and lets not even mention how hard sanding could be too depending on how large the piece is. Taking ur time and not rushing through is key and u have what I like to call the GREATS lol …A great sander, a great sprayer, and a great work ethic !! Love that u are able to give this piece away it would not be so simple for me to do ! God Bless
This vid is a pure inspiration for someone like me who is going against the proverbial grain amd and want to paint old wood chairs BLACK. They also have caine on thr backs. I KNOW 😊 it will work thanks to your tutorial. Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤
New subscriber! Let me just say, right out of the gate, I instantly liked how thoughtful and meticulous you were in your processes…from start to finish. Excellent style and vision, professional work and overall a transformation to a beautiful product. It’s evident that you love what you’re doing, I also commend you on your dedication to giving back to the community, labors of love are the best kind.
The entire project is fabulous, but the chairs steal the show---so sophisticated! I can envision them surrounding a marble table in a Venetian house overlooking a quiet canal. Yummy!
You inspired me to do my own dining set. I used fusion mineral paint, recovered my seats in a chenille fabric and I bought a big roll of the thicker black landscaping fabric to make the dust covers on the bottom. It just looks neater stapled over the raw edges of your upholstery fabric and wood bottom.
What a transformation, Wow! It looks great n professionally done. You said you’ll find a family who could use a new dining set. I think that’s wonderful. You have a kind heart. I’m sure it gives you much pleasure in doing that. ♥️😊👍👍🌟🌟🌟
Wow!!! This is absolutely INCREDIBLE. I am going to do this! Buying a house and can’t afford new furniture- I have been watching your videos and working on free furniture I find.
THANK YOU for this video! We just bought a house and was gifted a beautiful dining room table and chairs. It came in a golden oak color and I knew I wanted to flip it because it was not the vibe I wanted for our new house. This just gave me all the inspiration that I can do it, that it is not that expensive, and it can only take a few days! I love how yours turned out, Wish me luck!
It really came out beautiful! It would look elegant in any home. I'm always impressed how much hard work and heart you put into your work in order to give it over to others in your community; that's even more beautiful!
Lovely and classic! Thanks for showing the chair reinforcement cause not all of us can do a professional carpenters repair on wood chairs. We just need to know the chairs will hold up to use! I also appreciate your pricing break down! I have a table and 4 chairs (1broken) waiting for a makeover in my garage. I used that same Alkyd paint 9 years ago on my current kitchen table and chairs and it has held up extremely well.
The idea of restoration old furniture is very useful way to save our money, protect envirement and have a new furniture that were painted or makeovered. woodworking fans can watch this video and use best tips. I enjoy watching you.
Beautiful work, as usual. I love the black with that pale wood. The whole vibe is so elegant. The material for the chairs is not a good match, in my opinion. The lumpy fabric clashes with the sleek, smooth lines and high contrast colors of the wood, and the color is a close-but-not-quite mis-match to the tabletop. Plus, I've found that textured fabric really grabs and holds onto debris--straw, sticks, splinters, grass, etc.--so it's hard to keep clean.
I love the idea of saving old things by giving them new life! I collect antiques. I bought a dining set from an antique store but I wasn’t sure whether to paint it or not. You just gave me an idea!
Fabulous job once again! Aesthetically beautiful and structurally sound as well. Thank you for supporting Habitat for Humanity. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to purchase a Habitat house in Asheville, NC last fall. My sweat equity included working at the ReStore as well as working on my house and my neighbors' houses for a total of 263 hours. It was fun to see how much furniture moved through the ReStore and to imagine the transformations they might receive. I would encourage you to see if there's a Habitat family that could use this lovely dining set. It would certainly become a family heirloom. Thanks for all you do!
Absolutely beautiful! I think for even a more contemporary look I'd would don a horizontal dowel inside where the cane was. It would give it a fluted modern unique change. Beautiful job!
Great video! I particularly like the watered down paint sealer. As one who use to do a lot of furniture flipping (I stopped most projects because after adding up all the cost my return on my investment was dwindling because people do not want to pay a reasonable price for the finished project). My new favorite refinishing technique is chalk paint as it needs very little preparation. I use a spray clear coat and a paste wax finish. I have also used the tinted chalk wax with good results.
I always learn so much from watching your videos but since I’ve been sitting on a similar set to this for a year without touching it this video was super helpful. Your work is just beautiful.
Grew up watching my dad who was a master plasterer and jack of all trades. I inherited my love of furniture refinishing from him and so many goodwill and roadside throwaway were turned into gorgeous furniture for our home. Solid oak. Have picked up some serious tips from you and your work is exceptional 👌.
Beautiful! Yes, I definitely can see your passion, and how you enjoy doing quality craftsmanship. At first I thought "oh no, modern rather than classic?!" As Iam in old fashioned country girl, and very simple. But after seeing the care, thought, and hard you work you put into making it so beautiful & more sturdy, I was amazed. You made it modern in a very tasteful, simple way.
I was keen to see how you handled the cane backs, because I have a cane-seated stool that needs an upgrade. Now I just need to choose what colour to paint it. Not sure I am aligned with the bouclé fabric, but it is trendy & modern. I might have gone for something more hard-wearing and classic - however that would likely be more expensive. A great project, and lovely to see your 2-legged & 4-legged helpers! 😊
I’m in process of revamping my coffee table & came across this video, what a talented lady you are , I absolutely loved the finished results and would happily pay £1000 for this set. Thank you for your clear step by step explanation on how to restore, I’m off to DIY store to purchase paint and sander , you inspired me. Live from uk 🇬🇧
Beautiful, I'm considering refinishing my dining room table I might do this. And it is so kind and generous of you to donate your work to those in need
Wow, lots of hard work - thanks for the details, visual, audio, and cost$! Love the dark color on the chairs/T Legs and light on the top. Just a thought on the legs and the loose connection, if you look inside those corner reinforcement wood pieces, you can tighten those screws from the inside vs creating a new screw hole on the exterior. I have tightened many coffee tables and chairs with those corner screws. Good Job!
Everything was gorgeous except the chair fabric. Great work! Gave me inspiration to flip my traditional furniture to a more modern aesthetic! Thank you for sharing.
Woah! What a stunning table makeover! I love the look of that enamel paint. I'm going to give a try on an entryway bench I'm refinishing for a family member. Love that you can have it tinted to whatever color you want! (BTW love that you mostly use products we can actually get here in 🇨🇦)
I have to say Katie, your videos are so clear and concise. So many videos are talk, talk, talk making them too long and frustrating to sit through. Your presentation and production value is great. Thank you
I love all of it except the chair covers, for aesthetic and practical reasons. Thank you for donating these pieces to those in need. I'm in awe.
Agreed, that fabric wasn't right for the chairs.

Did you know this are just clips of a video Right? The way she strokes the top is not the proper way. Probably pro painter hubby's idea
@@elibooks7660 what do you mean by "clips of a video", isn't the whole presentation a video? And what is the proper way to stroke a table top?
Love your work!
And am learning a lot from you.
Love your heart for your community
I am so thankful that you walked through the numbers if we were to flip something similar.
At the same time, I am very blessed to know you’re able to give back to people in your community the way you do. 😊
Amen, God is good.
Beautiful! Older furniture is much better quality!
People really don’t know all the work that goes into this beautiful furniture and you got my respects! I literally just want to brush the paint on my dining room and thinks that’s it! Done. But watching everything you just did.. omg! That is commitment and wisdom. Great job

You do such beautiful work. You not only made the table look modern, but made it way sturdier than when it was new. Love watching your channel 👍🏼👍🏼
Great looking set . You are a special person for donating it.I am sure it will be a much loved addition to any home .
Beautiful You. The table and chairs have your touch and any family would be overwhelmed at your generosity.

What a kind person you are. Blessing your community. 😊
Another beautiful transformation. Thank you for sharing your talents with others.

So pleased to see you reinforce the chairs. Turned out gorgeous!

Just stunning. There will be a very happy family ready to serve dinner with that set.
Such a superb set.
You have a good eye for picking out vintage items and modernizing them with perfect details.
Well done!
I love what you did with this set!! All your videos are so satisfying to watch!😍🙌🏻

This was such a satisfying remake. Absolutely beautiful.
Lovely quarter-sawn oak table. I have a similar table that has been in need of refinishing. Super inspiring!

I absolutely adore this dining set makeover 😍 How incredibly gracious of you to donate the fruits of your labor ❣️
I love this! Absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for the video and your gift to a blessed family.
Really appreciate the time you take to explain the steps you take, materials used and tools used. Nice projects, too! Tha k you.
Oh I love this! I have a table like it and have been wondering what I can do with it. This really helps give me inspiration!
Wow I'm sure you know how beautiful this turned out. So much work for you with a great result! Brava.

I Love it!! Especially the boucle seats and the ratan. Great color choice and i love the color of the top of the table. Very natural
The entire project is fabulous, but the chairs steal the show---so sophisticated! I can envision them surrounding a marble table in a Venetian house overlooking a quiet canal. Yummy!
Your generous heart is even more beautiful than the work you produce! I love the final result with this dining set.
I love it. I really love the contrast - beautiful.

Katie, this set is quite beautiful. Thank you for all your efforts and time to bring all of us such brilliant videos.
Another successful flip Kate! Someone will be very lucky to receive this
I think so too!
You are doing an amazing job. May you be richly blessed for the things you do especially for persons in need. My first time seeing your video.

The cane backs on the chairs are the ONLY reason I was interested in this set. They are the modern update! 😉❤️
Beautiful work. I was surprised I loved the black so much. I loved the colour you painted the table top.

Watching from England. I am an American and love your passion, thank you.
Beautiful! I used to buy that magazine all the time, especially for the high vs low articles... saw it when you were displaying it.
Beautiful! Yes, I definitely can see your passion, and how you enjoy doing quality craftsmanship. At first I thought "oh no, modern rather than classic?!" A great project, and lovely to see your 2-legged & 4-legged helpers! 😊
Truly a labor of love. Beautiful.
Very impressive! And inspirational! You sure don't cut any corners. These pieces are beautiful.
Love the smoothness of that sprayer.
I’m in process of revamping my coffee table & came across this video, what a talented lady you are , I absolutely loved the finished results and would happily pay £1000 for this set. Katie - you did an amazing job on this. I watch your videos all the time. I appreciate all your tips and how thorough you are with your work. - Kim
LOVE it! I finally found a great Habitat in my area!
That is awesome!
Beautiful, I'm considering refinishing my dining room table I might do this. And it is so kind and generous of you to donate your work to those in need
Oh I love the black! When you flung out the drop sheet, I was like LOOK AT ALL THAT ROOM! 😂
Wow, lots of hard work - thanks for the details, visual, audio, and cost$! Love the dark color on the chairs/T Legs and light on the top. Beautiful work, and how wonderful that your business is doing so well that you’re able to donate this. Best wishes going forward.
Everything was gorgeous except the chair fabric. Great work! Gave me inspiration to flip my traditional furniture to a more modern aesthetic! Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely Beautiful!! I love the transformation. So much better! Great job !!
The boucle fabric is so modern and looks beautiful, I love how this turned out ❤
I am about to refinish my table and chairs and this has really inspired me! Thank you Katie!
Beautiful transformation! Thanks for showing the steps and products!
Woah! What a stunning table makeover! I love the look of that enamel paint. I'm going to give a try on an entryway bench I'm refinishing for a family member. Love that you can have it tinted to whatever color you want! (BTW love that you mostly use products we can actually get here in 🇨🇦)
