I have the press, and a watch repair toolkit that includes a number of useful items. If you have a few watches, and you have friends who still wear watches, it's worth having these things. Help yourself, help your friends, help family members...
Plus, there's a cool feeling that comes with accomplishing things, especially if it's something that most folks will pay others to do.
He knows what he is doing, excellent work😊
Helped me change my Indiglo battery. Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thank you I have an indigo timex watch and I really like it. I was able to change the battery.
I’m so glad
Use a C-clamp. Place a cloth over the glass to protect from scratches. Tape the back down to prevent it from moving while you position the c-clamp. Tape a quarter ($.25 coin) or other stiff item over the back to prevent damage while tightening c-clamp. And another coin or similarly stiff item over the glass. Position the c-clamp and tighten until you hear the light snap. Remove clamp, tape, and coins. Done
That could be dangerous. You might crack the glass I would recommend an inexpensive press back.
The battery numbers such as CR2016 have meanings. The CR2016 is 20 mm in diameter and 1.6 mm in height.
These are the only ones I am sure of.
This year CR2016 is exactly the right battery
Mine wouldn’t snap on no matter what I did (without that special tool.) Finally, I took a little WD-40 and put it on a Q-tip and applied WD-40 around the edge of the backing. Then it snapped right on with hand pressure. The key was to decrease the resistance, not increase the
Great idea thanks for sharing
@@YourReviewChannel Wow. THANKS for sharing and God bless WD-40. THAT I got.
Unfortunately, the Q-tip WD-40 method did not work on my analog CR2016 battery version.
Wouldn’t snap closed by hand so I put the cover in the freezer and the watch in front of a space heater for a few min. That was enough thermal expansion/contraction to get it to snap together by hand (gotta work fast before the cover heats back up).
Good idea
No matter what I did I could not get the back cover to go on. Tried the lube trick, tried freezing it. I even made a holder and put it in my drill press. Nothing worked. I finally put it in my vice, got the cover to snap on, and the watch stopped working. Anyway, I should have paid a watchsmith to do it.
My battery pops back out while I'm putting the back on. Yes it's the right battery. I can hold the battery in and it works. For some reason the battery will not "snap" in.
That does happen. You have to play with it until you get it in.
Yes, this happened to me too. Eventually, I broke the watch. Timex really are a bunch of kuntz.
@@YourReviewChannel 🤣
May I know does it suppose to light up full watch face? I can see that it is not... under 6 position there is a black strip (flat tyre). Can you share the issue?
It could be that the light is burnt out
Thank you for the video. I thought this watch had two batteries. I admit, I fast forwarded through, but is there a second one for the indiglo feature? Thanks again
No just the one, If is does not light up then the light part is burnt out
@@YourReviewChannel i don’t imagine that is an easy fix? My light just burnt out on me
Yes its not @@JOE7BATES
Yuk....wish I had seen this earlier as I just shattered my glass on one - the other one presses fine with my my thumbs - the third one will try your way and hope it works....but u did n't say the most important thing - there is a small "v" on the case which has to align with the wheel for changing the Time and Date? Cheers from Canada...
No luck - tried the Baby Oil trick too - maybe the Roots watch back is twisted? Haven n't used the broken and Roots for 30 years now...
Mines ticks, but when you press the button it doesn't light up.
My watch face stopped light up after 3 months now only a little square under the six lights up, any ideas?
Sounds like the element is burnt out
I replaced my battery because the indiglo was only lighting up with a six o'clock position. Clean all the contacts put a fresh battery in same thing. Indigo was only working at the 6 o'clock position. Any idea what could be causing this?
Yes, it’s probably burnt out
@@YourReviewChannel lol, Just my luck. I sent it back to the philippines they put a new movement in, cost me $35.00 🫣 out of warranty repair.. It worked great for about four months now the indiglo's burnt out just fantastic. I shouldn't just mountain bought a new one for $45.00. As long as we're on the subject. Is there any cost effective way to repair it? Thanks..
Dude what about care and Caution of the O RING seal. Did it have one , it should.
Great video! after changing the battery on my Timex only the "indiglo" function works but not the clock. How could I solve it? Thank you
Sounds like the watch could be dead. Also give a couple of Minettes to star running after you push the clock pin in
@@YourReviewChannel I tried but nothing, I think it's dead😅 Is the "Duracell CR2016" battery the correct one, right?
Yes Correct. That Happens.@@gioderri9955
Are the cases pressurized at all?
No
My watch is keeping time but the light has stopped working, is it possible to fix ?
No, the light has burnt out. You might have to take it to a watchmaker. It might not be worth it to repair it.
My indigo light doesn't work after battery change. Did I do something wrong?
Probably the light is burnt out
Informative and you have the most pleasant voice. (#timex fan)
I think I would be pretty uptight if I couldn't get the back on and didn't have the press tool.
Yes, but at least you know you can do it if you have the tool
I'm replacing the battery on my Timex, but the battery won't pop in. It keeps coming out, so I can't put the back on. Advice? TIA
Make sure you have the right battery
I do, it's a CR2016. The deadone poped out but this one won't pop back in.@@YourReviewChannel
Yes, this happened to me too. Eventually, I broke the watch. Timex really are a bunch of kuntz.
Man, y'all talk so dang fast, I thought I had the speed at a higher setting.
I thought the back cover just snapped in. I didn't know that a press was needed.
Yes some times it is
So I have an aqua branded indigo watch just picked up today. Put a battery in and the light works but the movement doesn’t. I can’t figure out why not?
It’s broken
Generally, what is the life of the new battery?
2 years
@@YourReviewChannel Thank you!
MY NEW BATTERY WILL NOT STAY IN PLACE ON MY TIMEX INDIGLO WR30 M MAN'S WATCH???
Wrong size?
It doesn’t stay in place or pop in or anything - it just sits there until you put the back on - it will slide around (or out) if you move the watch before you put the back back on. HTH
I had one too. I found you have to make it hold between the bar at the top (behind the 12 o'clock position) and the small fingers at the bottom. It will stay as long as you don't turn it sideways or worse. The gasket makes it almost impossible to get the cap on. Good luck with yours. As I said above, mine is now on it's way to the landfill.
@@chancestone8954 THANKS CHANCE, I WILL TRY IT. I PUT IN A BAGGIE FOR THRIFT
STORE, BUT I KEPT HOLDING OFF FOR SOMEONE WHO WAS HAVING SAME ISSUE. LOL
Yes, this happened to me too. Eventually, I broke the watch. Timex really are a bunch of kuntz.
I changed battery but ondoglo doesn't bright. Anybody knows why?
The part that lights up is probably burnt out. That happened to me as well in some of them.
@@YourReviewChannel is there any way to check it?
@@YourReviewChannel watch was unused for years. I put a new battery and indiglo doesn't work
Same replacement battery doesn't wanna go in place
It can be tricky I have to work at in
Yes, this happened to me too. Eventually, I broke the watch. Timex really are a bunch of kuntz.
The press costs more than a new watch.
True, but if you have more than one watch it’s worth it
@@YourReviewChannel I wish you were my neighbor. : )
5 $ battery 500d press tool
I can't see a notch in my watch. 😂
Sometimes they’re hard to see. Use a tiny screwdriver or a watch knife.
that's what i thought, but this piece of crap doesn't have a notch, just a bunch of spots that look like they might be notches because i already gouged up the plating
Talking too fast sometimes, hard to understand.
