People seem to think (at least act like in my opinion) that they are more important then every one else including emergency vehicles with lights and siren(s) activated for an emergency call. Fantastic video highlighting an issue that needs some addressing man. I'd also like to take this chance to remind most people that many of these cases aren't out of malice - rather, people panic and don't know how to react. Like you've said, the goal shouldn't be to single anyone out, but rather, to raise awareness for this issue as a whole and get people to yield properly.
Fire Phoenix Emergency Videos 火鳳凰特殊車輛影視 Thank you Jimmy! Yes that’s true, and I hope that with more exposure and awareness people can see what they should not do, or just realize that the emergency services don’t have it easy (even in a very ‘developed’ place like Canada...).
It also doesn't help, in the case of this hall, that their station is built alongside another building that sticks out further and, during this period, had the sidewalk covered in construction stuff such as scaffolding, right in everyone's line of sight.
True, people don't react well when startled, that's why you keep an eye out for the big red trucks and when the lights come on, get out of the way quick as you can.
Why panic when all you have to do is do your best to get out of the way.not just sit there and do nothing.they are emergency.most importantly not only it clearly says when you go for your licence to keep emergencies ways cleared or get the hell out of their way.but I see so many just sitting there even with sirens screaming.
That and drivers licenses shouldn't be given out as easily, the driving test should have a stress simulation and physically teach people how to react in high stress scenarios just like when a siren comes on or when someone cuts you off that you don't act like a dick and have a fit of road rage
Watched a lot of these and noticed how the public just went on about their business not GIVING room for these vehicles. It would be ashamed if this ever happened when they need help themselves.
Do you ever hated on your own life When people blocks the road street? Why don't you just honk at them ya know Even know, you are working at your job on FD! Do not give up okay, let the Firetruck pass ok.
@John Arat Or he noticed the firefighters were making a scene? They sat there for what, ten seconds when they could have just backed up four feet and been off?
@John Arat Yes, I mean the fire "medic" (not sure why they refer to it as "medic" considering they only operate at first responder level). Sure they have the right of way, it still doesn't stop the operator from backing up and moving on. Hell, even when he couldn't have pulled forward he sat and waited an extra four seconds. There's nothing wrong with firefighters fixing a situation too by using a bit of common sense. What fire lane? What are you talking about?
@John Arat Looks like the city of Vancouver needs to mark the street or put signage up to tell motorists. If there's no marking, and I can't find anything saying you can't stop in front of a firehall in traffic, then they probably will stop there. Sure, it should be common sense not to but common sense isn't so common these days.
@John Arat I know what a fire lane is but thanks for continuing to explain it lol. So I looked it up and Vancouver traffic bylaw says no stopping with 6 meters of a firehall on the same side or 25 meters on opposite side. Now is that 6 meters from the front of the station or 6 meters from the curb. One way the driver wouldn't be in violation but either way it must not be enforced given the cop would likely be in violation too.
Same shit every day, lack of respect towards first responders seems to rise since a few years... I remember 3 or 4 attacks against firefighters and ambulance personell in the last 2 weeks. Just yesterday a man tried to set firefighters ablaze after pouring gasoline over them, unbelieveable!
SaveLive TV Yes you are right, horrible, and completely unacceptable! First responders should NEVER be a target for violence. It shows that there is something really wrong with society... I hope people will learn one day and things will get better....
I remember those days 😊🙃. Awesome catches Buddy! I don’t get it how some drivers can be this brain dead when it comes to emergency vehicles responding with Lights & Sirens. Grinds my gears and sure gives me a headache 🤕
I had a chief back in the 80s tell me constantly that the reason why they spent the extra money on the huge, big, thick bumpers was to give me a tool to push people out of the way. If they don't get out of the way in a reasonable amount of time, push 'em! The problem was that 'chief' wasn't my 'lieutenant' back at the house! If I came back with a scratch on the bumper, I had to ride back step for three shifts!
In today's world, that would be correct, we would. Back then people had common sense and knew from experience how to nudge people gently with the nice, chrome bumper in front of the 33,000+ pound fire engine with 500 gallons of water! Sometimes just the knowledge that they could and would do that made a huge difference. Back in the good ole days when we actually rode "back step" and always kept a couple spare spanner wrenches in the hose bed in case someone wanted to intrude on that "Stay Back 500 Feet!" That was before we were invaded by social-justice-warriors!
My biggest complaint is you can hear the siren 2 blocks away and people will continue going thru the 🚦 intersection as if they weren't comming down the block! They almost always have to STOP because traffic didn't stop when they heard the siren. So the intersection would be clear. And it delays 911.
It makes me so angry and annoyed when I am driving with lights and sirens on in an ambulance and I come to a full stop at a in intersection, everyone else pulls over but that one idiot who just looks at me as they pass everyone who pulled over and me and then I end up going their direction. Just pull over, I'll pass you in less than two seconds. And please for the love of God don't drive on the shoulder as I'm passing you.
OH come on! How can they demonstrate how important they are if they pull over like an intelligent human being would. AND STOP when you pass????? You have to get it together, lady!
I was watching the Weather Channel one morning as they were showing a live view over down town NY and there was an ambulance stuck in traffic while they had their lights on. It was the worst thing i saw that morning. God bless all first responders, you never know when you’re going to need them.
What many people fail to realize - if the person driving the fire truck decides your vehicle needs to move, they can and will wreck your vehicle with theirs, with no liability. You'll be footing the bill for their damages, too. And that taxi at the end really didn't have time to react.
@Verbal Diarrhea Most municipal fire departments have immunity from claims of damages during the line of duty, even if you're at fault. I imagine it must be different in the department you are in though. I do agree that it's on first responders to drive safely, given the fact that most people in little matchbox cars often don't. Failure to yield, cutting off ambulances, running red lights, tailgating ladder trucks, etc.
The second one was uncalled for, it's not their fault that they're stopping at an intersection. The car can just go into the EMPTY LANE that is next to it instead of coming all the way across the entire lanes. No disrespect to firefighters but use your heads, ambulances find an open lane and utilise it. Do the same instead of causing problems
@FIREMEDIC 2707 just because fire responses are an emergency service doesn't mean they have the right to do simple tasks that can better a response time. Also calm the fuck down, I don't care about whatever the fuck you do. I'm an Anaesthetic Technician yet I don't go saying "NEXT TIME YOU HAVE A SURGERY IM GOING TO BRING YOU OUT OF ANAESTHESIA WHILE YOU'RE STILL CUT OPEN" it's very childish and I would like to see what your Captain thinks about you saying these things and why you shouldn't be kicked off as an emergency services responder for ethics violation :)
This is why the road in front of most fire stations have signs that says do not block emergency entrance/exit, but as always drivers still sit on the road blocking the station.
"Keep back 150m" good joke there. With a 100% eyesight you cannot read that from about 80m, so what am I supposed to do once I can read it? Reversing? Surely I won't do that on the road...
this is so common in Vancouver. Self Absorbed pedestrians and drivers glued to their cell phones, IGNORING or not even realizing there is an emergency vehicle trying to get by., They are also the first people to BITCH when Emergency (Police / fire / EMS) do not arrive fast enough when they call them. Should be a $10,000 fine to start. Its really bad in Richmond.
I've seen your videos all over and for some reason haven't subscribed until now. You create some awesome content. Nice video showing how careless some motorists are!
Hmmm..... to better understand why this station has such an issue over and over again, I Google street viewed the area around Firehall No. 2 in Vancouver... Found out that there are no driver awareness signs indicating that there is Fire Station ahead or any street paintings that indicate do not block, or any overhead warning lights indicating that a emergency vehicle is entering the roadway... I blame the city!
I like how this video is about putting blame on the drivers. The driveway is hidden behind the building to the right of it. They literally turning the siren on as the people going by expecting people to stop in 5 ft.
So at 1:27 ish I'm sorry your not in a big truck you can back up the 2ft necessary to get out in front of him this is just laziness and a power trip. This had to have happened up north somewhere where they have the strictest gun laws and curruption is rampant. A place where the wrath of the people is not feared.
The second guy in the jeep grand Cherokee defense, he was where he was well before the medic truck initiated it's emergency gear. It is illegal to backup on a road.
I'm a volunteer so I respond to calls in my own truck from home. In Arkansas we can run lights and a siren and you would not believe the people you see. Yesterday while vehicles were pulling to the side some asshole on a black luxury SUV was blocking me in traffic
These guys think that just because they are on their way to help someone who may be in a life/death situation, that they can run red lights and expect people to pull over so that they can go flying by. The arrogance and audacity of these people.
Not to mention, their ramp is blocked by a wall and on this day, the sidewalk blocked by construction fencing etc. Of course not everyone is going to stop on a dime when you drive down and think you're not going to have to exercise caution and pull right out. The 2nd clip, I think the firefighters are just bein dickbags. The pickup truck had room to proceed, their driver obviously needs more practice. Hopefully he isn't driving the Engine or Ladder. They also have a reverse gear too and could have backed up a bit and been off.
The Fire Stations where I live have a "Do Not Enter" box so for example if traffic comes to a stop, and there is a call then the units responding don't have to worry about vehicles blocking the driveway and increasing response time because there aren't any vehicles in that box.
The stations around here have there own traffic lights outside the bay that they can activate when they need to go to stop traffic and go. They also can change the lights at the intersections using infrared.
Nexus5150 yes in my city too but only one fire station in my city has that we have multiple the reason is the fire station doesn’t have a outsider bay they stay inside and the door is right next to the road so that’s why they built the box area they are smart if thinking that the other fire stations in my city has huge bays very far way from traffic there able to get out easy because traffic is far warship from them and there’s barely no traffic and this other fire station is like in the middle of no where no traffic Barely but they still have huge bay other fire station is next to this huge collage campus but it has a bay too far away from traffic no problem
before getting into the fire truck, the firemen were taking their sweet ever loving time getting loaded it, 2 wrongs, idiots in cars and also the firmen
For a minute there, I thought you were filming in Toronto :P Great catches! I was a bit surprised the crews didn’t use their bullhorn much on the motorists (that first fire truck’s an exception :P). The police, fire and ems crews here in Toronto are known to really hammer down the bullhorn or air horn on unaware motorists and driving through intersections with a red light facing them :P For example, if the taxi failing to yield took place in Toronto, the first response vehicle would have laid down the bullhorn as the taxi drives by : P
SnipballTheBestBall Thank you! Yea I mean every city and department has its different styles and habits. Vancouver Fire & Rescue aren’t known for using a lot of horn, but it also depends on the driver. From personal experience inside emergency vehicles I also found that it can be harder to reach for the bullhorn ‘button’ than using the regular siren functions (depending on the set-up and system). Let’s hope they don’t need to use the siren like crazy all the time in order to get anywhere...
the taxi had about 5 seconds, what did you expect, him to slam on his breaks and maybe STOP in front of the truck instead of getting through the areas so the truck can pull out. cars can't stop on a dime, they need time to hear the siren glance around and decide best course of action.....is FD insists all drivers should slam on the brakes every time they hear a siren or see a flash reflecting, they need to take responsibility for the deaths from car accidents caused by doing that.
the amount of keyboard warriors is unreal.alot of these are the cities fault. alot of these videos show a huge blind spot obstructing the view for oncoming traffic of the fire station. so the only way drivers can tell what is going on is by sound. which in a city that dense it can be hard to pin point sound right away. There really should be a warning light in the street when trucks are leaving like in alot of other cities. Rhe only "wrong" thing a saw where the pedestrians and the jeep driver who was afraid to back up
even that jeep that didn't reverse shouldn't have needed to. The medic could have just as easily reversed a bit, and done so faster, and much safer than waiting for the jeep to reverse in traffic in the middle of the road, when the medic had a large clear space behind it. I get you need to yield to emergency services, but there's common sense in who should move for the other. I've seen many emergency vehicles get on a high gorse because they get sirens and think that makes them better than other people. Their job is to get to the scene as fast and safe as they can. If that mean you go around a civilian rather than wait for them to clear a path, then go around them.
i have to agree, a lot of whats in the video really isnt that bad, people moved out of the way including the jeep, the medic truck had a bad angle, and the taxi was already coming when the medic put his warnings on. people are dumb for sure but this video is a poor example of it
I HATE when people don't yield to a siren on an Emergency Vehicle!!! When I was an EMT, if I had to drive the ambo for any reason ( they didn't let me too often) because I would get on the mic and yell at people to move over and call them idiots lol
Couple weeks ago I was coming home from running errands and I noticed a fire truck about a mile back in my mirror. I kept going while watching my mirror so I would know when to pull over. Well... the fire truck finally came about 100yrds of me so I pulled to the side with my indicator on and stayed there. Now the funny part of this is that as I pulled over... the idiot behind me got annoyed that I pulled to the curb giving him no room to pass, so he swerved around me and guns his engine. I raise my hands in the meaning "dude, are u serious?" He realizes why I pulled over about 50ft ahead of me and proceeds to pull over for the fire truck. Some people are really clueless to the world around them when they drive.
Too true although I think the cases here aren't the strongest. Two show a fire vehicle coming out from behind a wall and in the case of the first involving the engine, the sidewalk is a construction zone covered in scaffolding making things even worse vision wise for motorists and fire crews. The second clip, the firefighters are making a scene in my opinion. Their pickup has a reverse gear too and they could have easily used it and been on the way in seconds rather than wasting almost 10 sitting there.
In Australia, emergency services are allowed to do what is needed to respond to a scene in a safe but timely manner, if that means gently pushing your car out of the way to allow them to exit, so be it, you car means nothing to the solid steal bumpers these big trucks have on them.
Poor Emergency Vehicle driving skills; 1) Vehicle position terrible for responding with flow of traffic. 2) Serious blind spot, disrespectful of traffic flow. 3) Serious blind spot. 2&3 not implementing defensive driving skill, lights & sirens don't give you the right of way
If you think that is bad, try being a Department of Transportation vehicle on the way to a wreck. I was flagging traffic for an interstate closure, and had two cops (with no lights or sirens) try to run through the intersection and cause a wreck. Sheesh...
I got hit bye a ladder truck at a intersection. I had the green light he had red, now im all in on giving way to emergency vehicles but when a accident does happen, anyway in houston its the emergency vehicle thats at fault. cops ended up ticketing the fireman driving and told me emergency vehicles actually have no legal rights to run red lights.
Downtown East side Vancouver BC , i litterly lived 3 blocks away from there and my favourite stripclub right across Orange No°5 ...near Main and Hasting...
Great Video and great statement. I've been in a small city in eastern Luxembourg and I've seen similar situations as well. Nobody seemed to be able to constitute a rescue lane for the responding ambulances...
Direct consequences of the American/Canadian way of thinking: 1: Me 2: Me 3: Me 4: Me 5: Me 5: My time 6: My lawyer 7: My psychiatrist 8: My work 9: My fam 10: Anyone else Society? What's that ..... It's the individual that's important .... For the rest: Why are US/CND Fire trucks twice as big as European (We put the same 30m ladder on a non articulated truck, about 2/3 of the size of an US/CND truck) Why use an extended Pickup with 4 persons for a 1st Responder Medic while we do it with a compact car? Impression Management ? And last but not least: Whether it are Emergency Vehicles or trains, you all make so much noise, that I can fully understand the car drivers think 'Oh no, not another one' and ignore them. It's the price you pay, when you run a singularity where the individual is the most important. Everyone for themselves, God (or what ever non-existing higher power) for us all, the rest can drop dead. So in stead of pointing to the car driver(s), ES should better look at them selves and/or how other countries work.
Wow wtf you got that political rant from a video like this. Damn you got triggered big time. Canadians are not more individualistic than Europeans first time I've heard something that delusional. It's the other way Europeans>canadians on being pro individual which makes sense because the me first mentality came from...Europe. You should brush up on your stereotyping before doing it again it is just proving what an embarrassment you are !
The traffic light signal should be set back to keep the fire station clear of traffic. The cars stopped at the red light and would not know there's an emergency until the engine sound his sirens, the think the engined stopped suddenly to avoid pedestrians not the cars as he exited OK after that. One fire station I know of in London UK has a set of traffic lights and a don't enter hatch section right in front of the station doors.
If you watch closely there's a car that comes up on the inside lane. I don't fault them really in that clip. The engineer should have used more caution considering they're basically coming out blind with the wall and construction materials on the sidewalk, not to mention not turning their siren on until they're almost on the road. That's a recipe for an accident, which they almost got.
captured911 Thank you very much! Yea the traffic situation in front of fire hall 2 is a bit more tricky than most fire halls, but generally there’s always someone who won’t notice the road signs or just doesn’t care...
Every firehouse needs to have caution lights and a zone, 16' on either side of the driveway... anyone inside that zone when the lights turn red are going to be flipped, crunched, ran over our something bigger than a $250 ticket for blocking an emergency vehicle
Amed Tajan. I've been in the fire service for years and I'm not even mad about the guy in the jeep, however the pedestrians and the other scenarios that were shown in this video I can agree those people were douches for not being courteous. But it all comes down to driver responsibility for the guy driving the emergency vehicle too. NYC is the worst as far as people blocking emergency vehicles while responding
@@nikgedz1538 I can see it though, during this period of time, them actually not seeing them at first. In both clip one and three, the unit is parked along the wall so first there's that. Add in all the scaffolding and any other construction material, you now have cut down on both the crews and motorists ability to see up the street. Just my 2 cents. The second clip actually bugs me considering there was nothing stopping the trucks driver from backing up and moving on. Instead they sat for 10 seconds making a scene.
The stop line for the red light should be moved back.. hence not blocking the department driveway. Also department vehicles parked outside should be parked in such a manner that easy departure is insured!! Don't blame law abiding drivers because you can't pull out easily when you created the difficult situation to begin with!!
Who's idea was it to build the station next to an intersection with a traffic light , don't you think it would have been a wiser thing to put it further away from the intersection where the traffic doesn't sit in front of the station and also the reason why the taxi driver didn't notice the medic vehicle is because of the gigantic wall blocking the view of any emergency vehicles pulling out , any last thing those firefighters don't know how to operate the rigs cause they had enough room to get out , if they think they have it bad then they have no idea what our departments here in the states have to go through especially the FDNY.
Joseph Bennett oh my god, really? Think. The station could be older than the intersection, you can see by the wall, and I don’t now if your blind, but THIS IS IN THE STATES YOU SATAN’S SHIT NUGGET.

Yea pretty awesome :)

I remember those days 😊🙃. Awesome catches Buddy! I don’t get it how some drivers can be this brain dead when it comes to emergency vehicles responding with Lights & Sirens. Grinds my gears and sure gives me a headache 🤕
Hall 7 Emergency Photography Thank you Chris! Yes I agree, a little respect and alertness could go a long way here.
It's sad to see how many drivers lack situational awareness.
Yeah, just like you're not supposed to block an intersection, drivers have to keep an eye out and give a firehouse a wide berth.
I'd be fucking happy with that, it's fun
Then you have to get out and check on them and see if they are ok and take care of them before you go to the call if you do
In today's world, that would be correct, we would.

This is my biggest pet peeve, people not moving out of the way when they hear the emergency vehicles, sirens and all..... #MoveItOnOver........
My biggest complaint is you can hear the siren 2 blocks away and people will continue going thru the 🚦 intersection as if they weren't comming down the block! They almost always have to STOP because traffic didn't stop when they heard the siren. So the intersection would be clear. And it delays 911.

Taxi drivers in NYC tend to never yield to emergency vehicles as well. If you see a vehicle with lights and sirens, YIELD.
FIREMEDIC 2707 are you really a child throwing a tempertantrum?
@FIREMEDIC 2707 calm down little bitch
Right. That jeep really wasn't in the wrong. Looks more like a bad location for a fire station
People like these should NOT have their license 🤬
Agreed
this is so common in Vancouver.
Well I’m glad to have your support! ;D
Thank you very much!
I love the fact, that you can tell what the driver is wanting to say just from how they play their siren LOL.
Bothers me that people don’t think it’s important for these emergency vehicles to get through, then complain that a horn is blaring in their ear
Hmmm..... to better understand why this station has such an issue over and over again, I Google street viewed the area around Firehall No. 2 in Vancouver... Found out that there are no driver awareness signs indicating that there is Fire Station ahead or any street paintings that indicate do not block, or any overhead warning lights indicating that a emergency vehicle is entering the roadway... I blame the city!
traffic lights FTW!
Add in a giant wall blocking the ramp and, in some of these cases, a construction zone further blocking views etc. Its a cluster fuck.
I like how this video is about putting blame on the drivers. The driveway is hidden behind the building to the right of it. They literally turning the siren on as the people going by expecting people to stop in 5 ft.
I agree

Being a firefighter there is nothing more that irritates than someone not getting out of the way when I am on the way to a call.
I'm a volunteer so I respond to calls in my own truck from home. In Arkansas we can run lights and a siren and you would not believe the people you see. Yesterday while vehicles were pulling to the side some asshole on a black luxury SUV was blocking me in traffic
Ambulance: OH NO ARE PATIENT, WE MUST HURRY
Firetruck: a fire is almost spreading
Then we must S P E E D
What
These guys think that just because they are on their way to help someone who may be in a life/death situation, that they can run red lights and expect people to pull over so that they can go flying by.
Yes, that’s good, many places have those markings. Sadly a lot of cars still come to a stop inside the box...
@@TGGGlobalEmergencyResponses True, I believe here the police may do surveillance and possibly take pictures of the vehicle that stop in the box.
The stations around here have there own traffic lights outside the bay that they can activate when they need to go to stop traffic and go. They also can change the lights at the intersections using infrared.
@@stevenp1892 So much more convenient.
The police, fire and ems crews here in Toronto are known to really hammer down the bullhorn or air horn on unaware motorists and driving through intersections with a red light facing them :P
For example, if the taxi failing to yield took place in Toronto, the first response vehicle would have laid down the bullhorn as the taxi drives by : P
If that mean you go around a civilian rather than wait for them to clear a path, then go around them.
i have to agree, a lot of whats in the video really isnt that bad, people moved out of the way including the jeep, the medic truck had a bad angle, and the taxi was already coming when the medic put his warnings on. people are dumb for sure but this video is a poor example of it
But if you are next to a station and you hear fire dept sirens nearby I can assure you its a fire engine coming out from the station.
There should also be a "keep clear" segment in front of the fire station when it's that close to an intersection.
It's called listen and watch don't be looking at your phone

Well it’s actually Canada
I can’t count how many times I’ve been blocked by bad drivers or cut off by speeders in my ambulance. There’s no respect for first responders anymore.
I hope all these people need help one day and don't get it because of people like them
In Australia, emergency services are allowed to do what is needed to respond to a scene in a safe but timely manner, if that means gently pushing your car out of the way to allow them to exit, so be it, you car means nothing to the solid steal bumpers these big trucks have on them.

For the rest:
Why are US/CND Fire trucks twice as big as European (We put the same 30m ladder on a non articulated truck, about 2/3 of the size of an US/CND truck)
Why use an extended Pickup with 4 persons for a 1st Responder Medic while we do it with a compact car?

And last but not least:
Whether it are Emergency Vehicles or trains, you all make so much noise, that I can fully understand the car drivers think 'Oh no, not another one' and ignore them.
It's the price you pay, when you run a singularity where the individual is the most important.
Everyone for themselves, God (or what ever non-existing higher power) for us all, the rest can drop dead.

I always wondered. Perhaps need something like what railroads have. Crossing arms that come down across the roads. to stop traffic.
