Georeferencing a Map for GIS with Erdas Imagine 2015

In this tutorial, I demonstrate how to georeference a topographic map using Erdas Imagine 2015. Georeferencing is the process of adding geographic coordinates to a map so that it can be accurately located in space. This is a fundamental step in many geographic information system (GIS) projects. I show the step-by-step process of georeferencing a topo sheet, starting with selecting control points on the map and matching them to known locations in a reference dataset. I also provide some tips and best practices for working with topographic maps in Erdas Imagine. By the end of the video, you should be able to prepare your own maps for use in GIS applications through georeferencing.
