- Chislet, Marshside & Hoath Village, with a look at where the Chez Laurie was built. A walking history tour guide of Chislet, Marshside and Hoath Village, Kent using old postcards and photographs. In search of The Chez Laurie, all I found were piles of rubble and some stories both sad and uplifting. RIP Chris
Would really appreciate it if you subscribe to my channel. Thank You
This has whet the appetite to come back to the area for a decent length holiday after nearly 50 years away .
Used to live behind the Chez Laurie in the 80's/90's and have visited all of the pubs shown
Hey Theo. I remember you spinning the 45s over at BCC. Had some great nights over there. You used to close with that sexy french song 😂😂
Glad to hear you're about mate and hope you are well. Regards - Shaun 👍🙋💿📀🎤🎧💃🕺
RIP Chris
This brought back some wonderful childhood memories. Thank you for sharing 👍
Thank you for your feedback, glad you liked the video.
Last time I went to the Hog & Donkey around 2005 for lunch I sat outside with a friend. Two wasp nests were either side of the front entrance. There were a lot of wasps flying around, so I suggested that they could be moved humanly. The barman who wouldn't look out of place in a horror film replied that he had grown quite fond of them and didn't want to disturb the nests. We didn't get stung by the way.
I love it! The video and your story! Like they say, "Don't start nuthin' won't be nuthin." I'll remember to keep a peaceful demeanor when the "murder hornets," lol, arrive here in Washington State.
Thanks for the feedback. If they were hornet's it would be a different story.

Another great video Jeremy. It's lovely over that way. Nice countryside. My father and myself used to tar and grit farm roads. There is a farm at Hoath called Ford Manor Farm owned by John Batchlor. He was a good customer of ours. Great memories. 👍
Thanks Shaun, glad you enjoyed the video 👍
Great vid, would love to see a tour of all the haunted old pubs. I remember going to one in Kent for Xmas dinner, the ceiling was slanted and only about 5 1/2 ft high. I guess everyonewas smaller back then.
Thanks Sara ☺️
Hi Jeremy; At 2:55, in the postcard dated 1906, but probably taken around 1911/12, the small boy with the curly blond hair on the left was my grandfather, Samuel Harbour. He was born in 1909 in the Endeavour public house seen on the right in the postcard at 2:36. Somewhere, I have a list of the other people in the image, identified by my great-uncle, if this would be of interest.
Hi, it's great to hear of relatives spotted in these postcards, it brings the character's to life. Any info you can supply in the comments are much appreciated 👍
