I am fascinated by old postcards. I enjoy discovering the photo angle of the original through the lens and compare it with the image seen today. It's a bit like visiting old ghosts.
Canterbury College, Graphics 1975 "Nom de Plume" Assignment, Part 2, Kent UK
Canterbury College, Graphics. 1975 Part 2 Illustrating the phrase "Nom de Plume" Assignment Kent UK
Much appreciate if you subscribe to my channel. Thank You
I found this project given to me many years ago in 1975 when I attended Canterbury college. It was to make an image of the phrase "Nom de Plume" The tutors wanted the sculpture made from fibre glass and later photographed. I had never used fibre glass before.
Shakespeare was suspected as being a nom de plume
A pen name or nom de plume is a pseudonym (or, in some cases, a variant form of a real name) adopted by an author and printed on the title page or by-line of their works in place of their real name.
A pen name may be used to make the author's name more distinctive, to disguise the author's gender, to distance the author from their other works, to protect the author from retribution for their writings, to merge multiple persons into a single identifiable author, or for any of several reasons related to the marketing or aesthetic presentation of the work.
The author's real identity may be known only to the publisher or may become common knowledge. In some cases, such as those of Elena Ferrante and Torsten Krol, a pen name may preserve an author's long-term anonymity.
The Baconian theory of Shakespearean authorship contends that Sir Francis Bacon, philosopher, essayist and scientist, wrote the plays that are publicly attributed to William Shakespeare. Various explanations are offered for this alleged subterfuge, most commonly that Bacon's rise to high office might have been hindered if it became known that he wrote plays for the public stage. The plays are credited to Shakespeare, who, supporters of the theory claim, was merely a front to shield the identity of Bacon. All but a few academic Shakespeare scholars reject the arguments for Bacon authorship, as well as those for all other alternative authors.

Canterbury College 1975 Photography Assignment, Kent UK.
Переглядів 25521 день тому
I found some 35mm film that I had shot at college. Many years ago, 1975. When I attended Canterbury college, we were given a photography assignment which was to wander the streets of Canterbury and take photographs with half frame and full frame 35mm film cameras. The one thing I regret the most is that I wish I had taken a lot more pictures. The film was then processed and the next day was dis...

Faversham and Oare Creek Walk 25 years ago, my old photographs

A walk up Oare and Faversham Creek today and 25 years ago 2000. During 2000 and onwards I, Jeremy Vaughan, sold film cameras which I would test by taking photographs in and around Faversham. Some of the photographs I would sell as framed prints to the Faversham frame shop. This video shows the photographs I took then, compared to today, 25 years onwards. Oare is a village and civil parish north...

Ashford, a guided tour. There has been evidence of human habitation around Ashford since the Iron Age, with a barrow dated to 1500 BC on what is now Barrow Hill. Two axes from the Lower Paleolithic period have been found near Ashford. During the construction of the Park Farm estate in the late 1990s, excavation produced tools from the Upper Palaeolithic and Mesolithic period dating back to the ...

The history of Dymchurch began with the gradual build-up of the Romney Marsh. New Hall was rebuilt in 1575 after an earlier wooden structure was destroyed in a fire. It was used as a court room for the Romney Marsh area. The head magistrate was known as Leveller of the Marsh Scotts. It was there that the so-called Scot tax was introduced, levied on residents to fund maintenance of the sea wall....

Amazing, as someone from Whitstable I have to ask myself if some of the improvements really are that. Thanks for sharing this.
Best pub I've found in North Kent
That was a bit of a shock seeing Malcom and Keith. Keith was such a gentle man. Keep em coming! Can't believe you still have all those photos and the iconic bw TV in our living room!
We went to Dymchurch in 1976, the year of the ladybird, you could scoop them up by the handful along the top of the sea wall.
Fascinating. Merry Christmas 😀
Merry Christmas
These are great. I never studied at Canterbury College, but back in the '90s I worked there occasionally during my life model days (I worked more often at Christchurch College art block in St. Peters Lane though, now demolished and replaced by housing).
Thanks for watching Peter
The black and white suits them ,reminds me of Desmond decker at the college
I visited Canterbury and found a pub called The Hobbit!
I came out of Royal Navy in ‘75, went down mines at Tilmanstone for 4 years but spent lots of time-off in Canterbury. Lived in Herne Bay, got into motorcycles in big way too!
nice one J, superb work, if you have any images of the 70s Burgate Restaurant in Burgate junction with Butchery Lane it would be great to see in a future video, great memories of sausages and chips, tea, cakes and banana split there
Thanks for watching Zircon I will have a look through my collection to see if I have your recommendation
Thanks for watching, I'm looking for the Burgate restaurant, it's going to take a while in
@@JeremyVaughanPostcards thanks J, nice work, it's a difficult one, can't find any on Google
Fascinating😀
Thanks Andy
This is great, such cool photos capturing everyday life nearly half a century ago (you must be a similar age to me: I'm 61, and have lived in Herne Bay / Thanet area since I was 22). Keep the videos coming!
Thanks Peter
So like sandwich! Is it a Cinque port??😂
No !
Some of the old route numbers are back again!!
The modern bus depot is very poorly arranged (they should've looked at northern towns like Keighley and Morpeth to see how it's done!). Much preferred the old one.
History is the only thing we have left of England
Beautiful photos of my former home town 🙂 1 criticism though,at 10:19 you have a photo from under the guild hall that you marked as 2001 yet the blue car has a 2005 reg number lol.
Oooops
I used to work at the Martime Museum too,, ! ... lovely peaceful music too 🙂
Such a pity about the motor museum and model village ...I'm. sure they would be of interest today ..(born in Ramsgate hospital 1962 ) 😊🙏
Very interesting, nice to see how Faversham looked a few years before I was born. There doesn't seem to be much difference but still cool
Thanks for your comment, the boats have changed a little
I used to go on holiday every year to Ramsgate in the 1970s with my parents and brother. Great times and great memories. The model village, Pleasurama The long Bar, Kings Cinema.. I visit now by myself, now 59 years old, every year and walk around remembering those happy family times.
Bello 😮😮😮❤❤❤😊😊😊
I remember the Coach and Horses Pub. Remember it being a bit rough too!😅
Yes, I always thought it was full of bus men, like Stan and Jack from On the Buses
breathtaking, a pull back in time to memories, nice work, many thanks
Thanks Zircon much appreciated 👍
That took me back a few years - Thank you 😀
Lovely to look back thank you for sharing ❤
Thanks Roslyn
As a Simon Langton school girl in the late 60’s and early 70’s I spent a lot of time at the bus station with fellow friends arriving from and departing to Whitstable! Fond memories indeed!
A lovely collection and comparison, plus excellent and very suitable music. Thank you.
Great photo's :)
Thanks Andy
Love your work, Jeremy - Fascinating insights - If I could offer one suggestion it would be that you leave the old postcards and pics up a little longer so that the viewer is better able to absorb the details and contrast with the present👍
Thank you Richard for your kind comments. Yes, it's all about creating the right balance, I try and make it around 6 seconds 👍 sometimes the free software (clipchamp) I use cuts it shorter which is a problem
Lovely to see. Thank you!
Many thank you, Jeremy! Very sad to see beautiful people from the past, walking along their neat, orderly and clean streets and to compare it to what the prosperous town has become 😢 😢😢
Delightful, as always.
Somehow, I missed this one two years ago. Good to catch up though. Nice one, Jeremy !
Was born in Birchington where Dante Gabriel Rosseti died
Excellant ! Thankyou
Canterbury if you notice most of the Damage and Destruction was done towards the Eastern part of the city! It was en route to London overhead if the Luftwaffe aborted or abandoned there mission for any reason CANTERBURY was the most logical spot to Drop their payload for better lift or salvaging petrol also closer to the Channel if total failure was the result of the mission giving the pilot a better chance of being rescued than capture! So if you ever been in CANTERBURY you will notice how much different and post war the area is!! I think it may have been as recent as within the last 5 years an unexploded Bomb was found just outside the East Gate!! But yes the Old Town did see and have its share of The BLITZ during the War!!
Mum used to live in 26b The Beach at 2.38 and Great Aunt Ruth owned 8 The Beach until the 1980's 2.47
So much nostalgia what a lovely video, my grandad had a house in cliftonville brought a tear to my eye 😢
Love it😊
I grew up in Herne Bay. This has made me feel very nostalgic. May have to take my Mum for a visit next time I am that side of the country 😊
Thank you, Jeremy, for your work: it is very important to educate people on serious matters in such a relaxing way. 👍😊💖
Thanks, that's very kind of you to say
My dad alan was the manager of rediffusion back in the 70's.....I remember the shop well.
Lovely old photos of New Romney where my brother now lives. I must show him these wonderful old pictures. Thank you Jeremy.
Probably a grand old regal place in the past. I went there 8 years ago, now a left behind dump.
It’s not the ending of the British holiday thats ended places such as Cliftonville … its Millenial and Gen Z Chav culture, the me me me Tik Tok generation and above all immigration. Far from integrating, Cliftonville has become a ghetto of run down slums.
Lovely....well done!
Many thanks!
😊😊@@JeremyVaughanPostcards
I think an aquaintance of mine, Martin Casemore lives there. Heis a fantastic bird photographer, and could often be found at the old lighthouse gardens at dungoness.
I'd often see Peter Cushing riding his bike or having a cuppa in the Tudor Tea Rooms .
So many memories at Dymchurch from my childhood with my family
