Watching all three is a great opportunity to hear how Hetfield's voice has matured over the years and how his perspective on the same issues has evolved and changed with age. They're all good, but the first and third are great🔥🤟🔥🤟🤟

This song has always spoken to me. I can take any moment in my life and plug it into any in the trilogy.
Love it or hate it the Black Album is probably the best production on any metal record ever made. The tones are perfect some say too perfect. Interesting that the same three guys James, Lars, and Bob Rock would make one of the worst produced record ever with St. Anger 10 years later.

This song brings back so many memories we played this at my dad's funeral as he was a major Metallica fan
As for the variation in voice registers, colors and textures, I heard Montserat Caballé say that Freddie Mercury told her how deliberate he had to be as composer and performer "because he only had about 3 mins to convey emotions for which an opera composer could borrow 10 or 20".
Not only does his voice shift, but so does the emotional tone of that segment. I'm not a musician, but it reminds me of when I was a kid on a bicycle making a hard sliding turn on a gravel road.
You grab the brake, kick the back wheel over while leaning hard into the turn, sometimes kicking your leg out to control the lean, and then release the brake just as soon as you're oriented in the right direction. Not great for the gravel road, not great for your tires, and if you accidentally dump the bike your mom's going to be picking rock out of your side, but it's fast and it's fun.
Hetfield's mid-line voice shift reminds me of that.
The Unforgiven speaks to me. Trying to please everyone as a child/teen/early 20s and just being crapped on every time you turn around.
I don’t care for this video, but really like these guys and this song live. They don’t disappoint. 😊

I've never been too big into metal, but I've heard some other songs by Metalica, and they are excellent at what they do. Very talented and polished. Head-banger Maggie, great reaction. There's another Metalica video that I like and may sponsor in the future.

This song has aspects of my life, kind of ties in to my music life. Meaning the lack of fruition with my bands. All those textures in history voice that you picked up on

Lars may not be the best drummer but he is master of musical arrangements. They were making this like a traditional ballad with a melodic verse and a heavy chorus. It was lars's idea to do the oposite. And thats how we got one of the greatest metallica songs ever and the best writing from James imo !
A little bit more time? When did that happen? This is a great one from Metallica. Too often metal is dismissed as just noise. It can be much more than that. It can be thematically deep and musically rich. Good reaction, good analysis.

You really need to check out the official video for a song called "Heat Above" by a band called (Greta Van Fleet). I promise you will not be disappointed. The song has an old school vibe , though the band are young. They sound like a mash up of Freddie Mercury , and Geddie Lee, with a bit of Janis Joplin thrown in for good measure.
