I am not even that old. ( turned 17 a few weeks ago) but I feel so familiar with this sounds. I have heard them in old movies I used to watch and cartoons. Took me back to as a kid. Loved it
This is the first "plug in" demo which has made me want to get it. Those stings, those flutes, the choirs and the pianos from "Rubicon"...heaven! Great job!
I'll admit, at first I was thinking "what's the big deal? It's just more of the same ol' Mellotron sounds you can get anywhere." This was prior to hearing your demonstration. After hearing all of the extra sounds and your playing, I now want that software. I saw that Arturia says it's modeled after the '60s Mellotron but some of those sounds (like that trumpet) sound like they could be used in a 1940s styled composition. Those sounds would be great for any boom bap, East coast hip hop producer who didn't want to sample any album but wanted to make original compositions that have that old album sound. Arturia outdid themselves with this one.
Fantastic demo, the Mellotron V sounds amazing! Arturia always delivers top-notch virtual instruments and this one is no exception. Can't wait to add it to my collection. Thanks for the great video
Never payed attention to the tunes played in demoes, but this time they were awesome!!! Kudos for the choice and the execution, subscribed to the channel!!
It's just way overpriced. I was about to buy it last night and it was 80 bucks. I got up today to buy it and it was $200..I was like well nevermind I guess :(
When King Crimson sent their Mellotron away to be fitted with new tape banks in the 1970's, a copy was made of the old knackered ones first. I have a copy of those copies, the Three Violins and the Brass. They sound gloriously woozey, wobbly and lo fi - and I much prefer them to any other sample that I have so far heard!
Going for the demonetization grand slam in this video is seems, lol! This software sounds amazing though and I'm envious of your knowledge of classic themes on piano.
Thanks, I have this VST and I learned a lot just by watching.... or as Yogi Berra says, "you can see a lot just by watching"..... seriously, good stuff.
great! but what's up with the description? 0:23 The Gentleman 2:37 The Grandeur 5:00 The Maverick 7:29 Alicia's Keys 13:40 The Giant 17:01 Una Corda 20:47 Noire
What's insulting about Arturia's upgrade policy? I got the upgrade for a "below amazing and even below ridiculous" price, as an owner of the "2 versions ago" rev of the product, and am going to be running it on a different platform than I originally purchased it for. I'm curious to know what fault you found with the offer you received.
I've A/B'd the Mellotron V with M-Tron Pro/Streetly Tapes and a 7 year old Mellotron. 1st place of course, went to the real Mellotron, followed very closely by M-Tron Pro. The Mellotron V came in 3rd. GForce doesn't hide the source of their samples like Arturia and other companies do. They readily admit that their samples came from Streetly Electronics, the company that developed the Mellotron in the 1960's. The Streetly Tapes were sampled from the output of the Skellotron, the most perfectly maintained M400-type Mellotron you can find anywhere, and was loaded with fresh, newly recorded tape. The Mellotron V samples sound somewhat muddy by comparison.
That's incredible - how are you supposed to get on to the other amazing instruments in the Collection with that embarrasment of riches behind door number 1? Can't wait to get v7 up and running. Thanks for the demo!
The software has some nice features. The GeForce M-Tron Pro product still leads with its huge variety of Mellotron sounds. I like playing the Arturia Solina.
@@onceuponasynth Thanks, I found it's still available, very cheaply, from various retailers - but I'm thinking about trying it's successor, the Novation Launch Control XL Mk2. :) It's a bit more expensive but with more functionality - and it's designed to works alongside the Novation Launchpad, which was already on my wishlist...
Doctor mix has cool video featuring original mellotron, it sounds fantastic, and this is nice simulation, but layering and controls brings it to another level.
Most of the sounds are not even mellotrond sounds, not just because they were not featured in the original instrument, but because they dont sound like the mellotron tape character. But an AMAZING vsti nonetheless. Gonna buy it soon. For a more precise Mellotron simulation search for Mtron Pro by GForce, they actually used the master tapes from the original instrument.
Thanks ! I'm sorry to ask this, but when you make those demo, could it be possible to know if Arturia gave you this product to demo it, or if you do it by yourself, or else ; I know I'm picky and I hope I don't offend you. Still, in any case, I sincerely love your channel, and your demos, and I also know that you only demo stuff you like :)
Totally I'll definitely do that in future vids. I don't want to deceive people, I just don't feel it's always relevant when it's just a sound demo. But yeah, Arturia and Native Instruments sent me their plugins, but they didn't pay me or tell me what videos to make, so all the videos are my own choice and the opinions are mine. Of course there is always a bit of bias because I didn't have to pay for it, but I try to keep my opinions objective as much as possible.
@@onceuponasynth cool :) thank you for your reply ! Don't worry tho, you won't deceive people, your channel is awesome already :p and I'm sure most of us know you are honest and true to yourself :D
Today I tried a digital mellotron in physical format. The feeling that I have is that sounded so much better than this plugin. Is it placebo fx in your opinion?
This is the most fun I've had watching someone demo a VST
Weird, right? I agree.
I was just thinking the same thing...ACTUALLY PLAYS GREAT SOUNDING MUSIC
then you havent seen keyscape yet
Finally someone being able to play piano while testing 👍
One of the most listenable demos of any gear I've seen on UA-cam because of your playing recognizable pieces instead of mindless noodling.
And he's playing more than just generic pop songs.
Most of the time you can not get away with anything BUT noodling because you will be hit with a copy write strike from youtube.
You must not like the mars Volta
These 14 min took me to my childhood of previous life
I am not even that old. ( turned 17 a few weeks ago) but I feel so familiar with this sounds. I have heard them in old movies I used to watch and cartoons. Took me back to as a kid. Loved it
Pretty awesome. Pretty psychedelic. One of the best software trumpets I've heard.

lil uzi type beats
This is how one demonstrates an instrument! You adapt your playing to the instrument at hand. Great job and very well played!
this is the best product demo i’ve ever watched
A wonderful instrument for Lofi and Ambient ! I have a lot of fun with the few presets in the analog lab, and i'll soon buy the whole version 😄
Yeah it's awesome for lo-fi stuff, it has a lot of character.
Check out Fairlight CMI V
I can think of a beatmaker who used those Mellotron flute sounds in an instrumental.
It's really like making 50s and 60s sounding music from scratch on modern tech!
Nice, I could've listened to another 15 minutes of you noodling through these presets. Love that lo-fi grunginess Mellotron sound.
Brilliant demo, it's a real pleasure listening to such a wide repertoire.
Your playing skills are immaculate 🐐 made the plug-in millions of times better.
Fantastic demo, the Mellotron V sounds amazing! Arturia always delivers top-notch virtual instruments and this one is no exception. Can't wait to add it to my collection. Thanks for the great video
I love Arturia's Mellotron! The whole V-Collection is just amazing! Great video!!! :)

how did i just watch 14 minutes of someone demoing a synth, nice work lol
Best Mellotron V Demo on UA-cam ! Thanks a lot for that moment :D

Great to watch a demo with some nice playing by a real musician!
For some wacky reason, this plugin (it's sounds) gives me great Disney's old cartoons' vibes. I'm gonna cry now 😭❤
Dude, this is your best demo yet.
I could listen to the JS Bach pieces you play on this all day, IT’S SUCH A VIBE 🤣
crazy how realistic those instrument sounds are
i think it's like my 5th time listening to this video in loop :D it's amazing!!
Your playing its always inspiring, no matter what vst/gear you play.
Keep rocking!
wow this goes on my list! I love the dark sounds of it >)

Nice sounds and I would have upgraded to the latest version of V collection if Arturia’s upgrade policy wasn’t so insulting.
I truly feel you on that one, I would have pulled the trigger on it as soon as it came out, but their upgrade policy, like wtf, actually

please add pizzicato.. that's one of the most important sound in the mellotron!!!!!!
It's a nice emulation, I just wish there was one octave lower available (even if it's only a pitch down like on the UVI version).
Yeah same, I found myself running out of notes a few times.
you can actually play one octave below as well as above by moving the key range for each voice in the editor which you see on screen.
can you make a video about how you edit your vocals?
thanks!
Well I'm sold. Great demo.
1:52 - 2:08 *What song was that?*
Im getting a software based guitar synth soon - this is going in my kit bag of VSTs!!!!!!

Is it me or is sounding significantly better than the g-force software?
Why does the mellotron sound better than some sample libraries now?
What is the device you're using (on top of your keyboard) to control the parameters of the software?
Novation Launch Control. The one I have is discontinued, but they have a new one I think.
