Howdy everyone - I no longer own a Grandmother, but now own a Matriarch. I think I will continue this patch series since this got a pretty good response from the algorithm. I'll try to make a version of each patch that is applicable to the Grandmother, as well as expand it with the stereo capabilities of the Matriarch. More to come!
I never vibed with the GMs reverb (not it’s fault but mine). I have seen others use it to great effect but felt at least for a bass patch it would muddy up the sound.
Reverb on bass is a bad idea. Maybe in some cases it can work but only if you highpass filter the reverb first. I guess you could try that by patching reverb out to highpass in and into the attenuator to control the level.
I love Moog Synths a bit outa my price range! i do have a Moog Sonic 6 (vintage) still works as good as it did when it was brand new in the late 70s! I use a Korg Monologue to gets those "moogish " types of sounds.
Hi man, thanks for listening and trying it out. Sorry you are having some issues with the patch. I don't have my grandmother with me right now, but a few items come to mind: 1: Ensure the envelope amount is dialed all the way to the right (100%) 2: VCA Mode (flip switch on the right) should be all the way to the left. 3: Mod Wheel all the way up.
Yeah same. Especially the part at 0:43, I have mine set identically, but there's some super low sub note thing happening that mine's not doing with that D note.
Oh wait, I see what happened, Grandmother’s Keyboard Octave Range was transposed. To lower the octave range by a single octave at a time, press and hold the blue [ SHIFT ] button and then press the green [ < KB ] button. To raise the octave range by a single octave at a time, press and hold the blue [ SHIFT ] button and then press the green [ KB > ] button. Wild, I didn't realize this was a thing!
Shit I got the gas and bought mini nova and circuit track wish I would have seen this first zero fuckin menus on this badboy. Dam no wonder it's 4 times what I paid
0:27 16 Inches???? Hahahaha that would be a very very high pitch....That is even shorter than....Feet, those are feet/foot.....As in organ-pipe lenght....16 inch is somewher about a None, or one sixteenth (Unison), XVI (numbered) fundamental.
Spend less time talking more time playing. You don’t need to tell us what you’re doing . We can see! What I’m really saying is just play the damn thing. 😂😁😊

Super cool Bass Sound! Thanks and Kindly regards from cologne in Germany 😊
Awesome! you nailed that Minimoog bass tone!
this was super interesting, thanks - I was expecting a bit of reverb at the and, but this also sounded great!

Great patch! Moogs are magical.
I like instructional videos like this. Thanks!
Yeah, the oscillator octave is in feet, e.g. 16 feet and 8 feet, not inches. The footage refers to the length of pipes on a pipe organ.
' = feet " = inches. I can see why he might have made that mistake.
Interesting! Just also realized that's why film material is called footage..!
If you slightly increase the filter cutoff attack time it really brings it into rubber territory
Sounds insane. I love it.
Love it. 90s dance and nrg sound.
Nice patch idea. Thanks...
On the Osc, it's 8 feet, not 8 inches. Nice video BTW. I've not had a chance to hear this unit. Sounds good.
Yep - chalk it up to guitar brain naivety 😅.
Really nice patch!

Very well explained. Subcribed. Feel free to do more patches on the GrandMother.
Excellent stuff brother. More please :)
Excellent, Jesse.
very very cool video and nice sounds... my only advice is next time make it in 720 or 1080 HD so its easier to see the settings ;)
The tutorial is amazing! Thank you!

Great video!!
Nice I been looking for this exact sound
Good tutorial.I'm thinking about getting one of these as they sound so good.
More patches please!
Had to sell my grandmother a while ago! But want to pick another one up soon. Will be back with more! Thanks for your support!
Feet not inches lol.
@@superlean5991 it would be ear piercing hahahah.
He's only off by 3.5 octaves! 😉
Great video. It’s 16 feet 8 feet etc (not inches) related to organ pipes etc.
Great, can’t wait to buy a grandmother

I’m looking at a mini nova. I like that it’s polyphonic though
it's FEET not inches! LOL
