I’m really digging this nostalgic throwback on this commercial featuring Michael Jackson and Alfonzo Ribeiro. I totally remembered this commercial.
Such a fond memory. Miss the King! Just like I miss Prince. I believe it was peer pressure. That guy never had a normal life, pretty sad. Always pleasing others. Thanks for the video dude.
I definitely agree with ya
I used to get so excited anytime this commercial would air! 😍😍😍
As a Mega Michael Jackson fan, Thank you so much for this, now I have another MJ filming location on my list to visit🥰
Great idea for a location video Kurt! When Michael Jackson was at the height of his career....Alfonso became legend with that early video too! Great work and thanks for your dedication to the 80s 👻🙏🏼
Michael Jackson Love my favorite one fan Big music 🎶 CD 💿💖💖💖💖💖⭐️king Pop 🤴
Great video man. Reminds me of the times I used to hang out in pizza parlours with my brothers and then our dance offs in the street
Those were the days! Thanks dude
I got to see Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 in concert at the victory tour in the original mile high stadium.
The Delorean will bring u there 😉
Remember, the $5 million deal Pepsi signed with The Jacksons included sponsoring the entire Victory Tour in 1984-85, not just the commercials.
I like your intro looks like something from MTV back in the 80s bring me back memories when I was a kid growing up in the 80s
Thank you!
Man, gotta love them 80s baby! thank you!💖💜💯🤍👍!
AWESOME!!!🌎💯
This was great!!
Very cool! Thanks for sharing
I just wanted to say I truly appreciate all the hard work you put into your videos. You really seem to know your history, which doesn’t go unnoticed by us 80s kids. I was blown away by your “They Live” and “The Lost Boys” filming locations! Those are just a couple of examples obviously. Thank you for sharing, 80s Life! 🤘🏻
love this commercial and love pepsi
Nice video
Thanks again keep them coming
“Moonwalking while drinking a Pepsi” 😂😆😂
Incredible video!
Thank you!
Fun Fact: That’s a young Noah Hathaway (Atreyu) in Ribeiro’s posse!
Oh wow, I had no idea. Very cool.
Silver Spoons did an episode where Alfonso, his first appearance, was telling everyone in school he was friends with MJ and hired an impersonator to get him off the hook when they called him out. MJ was in the studio when they filmed the episode, Jason Bateman told a funny story of nearly running him over with bikes when Ricky Schroder and he were stalking Mike around the set.
It reminds me of like the episode of Diff'rent Strokes where Arnold told his class he knew Mr. T and The Gooch beat him up for lying, then Mr. Drummond hired Mr. T to talk to Arnold's class about bullying.
I was an avid viewer of Diff'rent Strokes and Silver Spoons back then! I remember both of those episodes vividly, even though it's been years since I've seen them. This commercial was so memorable, too. MJ and Mr. T. seemed larger-than-life back then, along with Madonna and Prince.
@@whoami7721 I watched Silver Spoons because I had a crush on Erin Grey from her stint as Captain Deering on Buck Rogers, also Jason Bateman's character had my name.
We got a German Shepard/Wolf mix puppy in 1983 and named him Mr. T, my dad was a huge fan of the Rocky movies and I was a huge fan of The A-Team. He had a greyish-silver coat with a black tipped tail, black lower legs and a black stripe from his nose across his head then separated around his neckline down to his chest, looked like a mohawk with the chest looking like a beard from a straight on angle. Had a big gold chain collar too. He lived to the ripe old age of 14, my dad cried like a wee baby the day he had him euthanized.
@@whoami7721 On another note, in 1983 my dad and I took a father-son summer road trip from Vancouver to Portland, Oregon for a week. Prince and Madonna weren't on his radar, he had me listening to Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Judas Priest since I was born in 1970. He loved British music, particularly what's now commonly referred to as classic heavy metal. That trip was to see a New Wave Of British Heavy Metal band he liked called Raven, that was when I saw my first thrash metal band, Metallica. It was 5 or 6 months before they released their first album Kill 'Em All. To me the 80s music scene was Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden and the like. TBH I've never listened to an entire Prince song start to finish, not even when Purple Rain came out.
And I've never seen Purple Rain.
Mr T was hired as a bodyguard by Ricky's dad to protect him from a bully in silver spoons
I love this kurt absolutely brilliant, you never ever fail to produce such good videos. Cant wait for the next one
Good video Kurt. Looks like you had the run of the place!
You could have also done The Beastie Boys - Fight For Your Right (revisited)/Make Some Noise video on that street.
Ok I remember that commercial 85 when his hair caught on fire
I love your 80s and 90s content. Have you ever thought about doing a Fall Guy episode?
Alphonso was the tap dance kid on Broadway. Those moves where in him
This is crazy. I thought I was the only person interested in obscure facts and locations like these. You can see his hair on fire in the commercial.
wow interesting. I was in Califoria and went to the studio few weeks ago. Never knew this was filmed there
Great job with this video!
🏃🏼♂️🔥🔥🔥🔥heeee heee
That was cool stuff!.....haha
In the TVC that place was so busy and crowdy!! But why is that place so calm and quite now??!!
Palabra 👌🏾
Good job Kurt! Michael and Prince both great talents with messed up childhoods, very misunderstood they wanted to do it their way but the corrupt industry wouldn't let them. They both died mysterious deaths. They fought the good fight. RIP and maybe we will see them again.
Looks like the set of all street-scenes in Friends.
Rip mj
Good video!
Party Rock!
It’s been said , MJ, paid into a trust to financially support his brothers. I think Randy being younger wanted more money which makes sense. I guess.
Pepsi also had Glen Frey of the Eagles!
1 of my best friends had pizza and pepsi with Michael Jackson. I think it was during the 2nd MJ commercial. I'd have to ask him again about the story
That's crazy
Was some of friends filmed on that lot?
It looks awfully familiar.
Not sure I remember this advert.
I would've only been four years old though in 1984.
Don't forget the head Ray Charles too
You got the right one, baby! Those were great commercials, too
You know they never bring that up when you’re on the lot. Which is weird.
This is exactly where LMFAO filmed the Party Rock Anthem video
That’s Great video to a great song 🎉
I didn't even know about these permanent WB stages/fake streets. Theres a few I looked it up. Thx it's always fun!
I always thought it was in NYC.
I remember the locations because from, German in Venice.
Is that the same spot did Warner Brothers do Ray Charles Pepsi commercial to
Coke had Bill Cosby too at that time.
That's right! How did I forget? Have a Coke and a smile!
What about the Pepsi Commercial where his hair caught on fire?
I think Michael did it TO the kids, the boys anyway
they got their monies worth out of him that second commercial tho... lol
I drink whatever is on sale 🤷🏼♂️ im not Influenced
Funny I don’t remember this Pepsi commercial Maybe because in 1984 I had my first apartment downtown San Francisco and couldn’t afford A television . At the time I was working at Safeway grocery store at market and Church making five dollars an hour just afford my $225 a month studio 😢
I remember when Pepsi was actually a thing 🐸🍺🔪🔥
Right? It was HUGE
can it be they shoot also the beasty boys video there ?
How about Matthew Perry Are you gonna do that Next?
Man your taking me back to when i was fourteen yrs of age.
Alfonso and Corey Feldman should do a MJ Tribute Tour, y'know, like how there are famous Elvis impersonators or bands like The Iron Maidens. I bet people would pay to see that, plus have you heard the Yoko Ono inspired crap Corey's been putting out? He needs something to save his career before it splats on the pavement in it's current freefall like Cory Haim's did.
Before? Its been over for 34 years.
@@garibaldi54 He just released a new album with Corey's Angels in November 2023 and touring for it. I saw one of his shows, they couldn't book a club so they played in a parking lot, Corey spent half the show complaining about his mic not working. It was like a trainwreck you couldn't look away from. The Angels are kinda hot though. He also released a video called Comeback King in 2022, it features Curtis Young because Corey couldn't afford Dr. Dre. He's still dragging his career through crap like Andy crawling through 500 yards of sewage to escape Shawshank, Corey's career is still on life support.
@@garibaldi54 He's still sporting the Michael Jackson look too, same hairstyle as MJ in the video. The guy's still mentally trapped in the 1980s.
Corey was one of MJs little "friends
@@SergioArellano-yd7ik Stop perpetuating urban myths, MJ never molested anyone. Maybe research that before going around the internet implying something like that about someone.
So what you’re saying is Michael Jackson didn’t want a Pepsi? Just one Pepsi… Sounds like they should have asked Suicidal Tendencies instead! 😂
SMH so they gone petulant the lie like this wasn’t filmed October 12 1979 ….like omg they really murkrd that man and ate off him his family ain’t shit either wow
Coke is better than Pepsi!
Coke is still better than Pepsi
I thought it was hotdog st?
Liked the commercial, didn’t like the product.
He definitely did it for the kids! Nothing Michael liked more than being around little boys! 😛
Mostly young boys in the commercial. That’s rich😂
