As a youngster in UK I practically watched the VHS tape over and over until it could hardly work anymore. This film along with Predator and Terminator are the true golden years of Arnie and action movies. Best era ever to grow up in.
Same. My professor and his friends were Santa Monica lifeguards. His friends wrote Predator and based the character names off of their team. Their "Captain" was the first to be killed in movie. My professor laughed out the theater knowing the reference. They offered my prof a chance to partake but he scoffed thinking the whole idea as silly. "That's why they're in Hollywood and I'm stuck here teaching. ❤😅" He said in jest.
Fun fact! When I was a kid I took a trip to Hearst Castle one summer and while driving happened to see Arnold in full camp makeup and everything walking down by the beach during filming and it was unmistakable once the movie came out that it was THIS movie!
My father's best friend was the owner of the Harold Lloyd estate at the time of the shooting. I remember him calling my father laughing about the crew "blowing up" the back yard as they spoke. The interior scenes from the "Presidential Estate" were the actual interior of the house including the basement scene, although I believe a couple of the basement shots were done at the studio. The room where the president (actor Dan Hedaya) answers the phone an learns of Matrix's escape was known as "the music room" at the time of filming. Just some additional trivia.
More trivia: I was in this movie in the motel scene. And I used to go to the Sunspot in the 80's when it had a dance club. At 8:02, you can see where the dance floor was ( far left side of the screen where the windows are). There wasn't a roof above the windows at the time (maybe an awning) so it was a great place to dance because you stayed cool due to the sea breeze. The Motel that Matrix and Cindy enter is on the right side of the screen. They built a small version of the motel entrance on the 20th Century Fox lot, where we shot the motel interior. I'm a big fan of the 80's Life channel and just happened upon this episode. Thanks for all the cool vids!

@@mikul_Robins Oh yeah...I guess that would make sense since there is literally no one else in that scene except for Matrix and Cooke, lol. How was it filming that?

I'm happy to say I used to work with the son of the bloke that owned the John Matrix cabin at the time of filming. They (father and son) actually built it together. He said Arnold was a great person on set and they had a really good time while they filmed there. The woman he said it to...who knew that was going to be Joe Hallenbeck's wife years later! Always makes me want to add "Fuck you, Sarah" or "Buy a dog" somewhere in there. I would even say The Last Boy Scout beats Commando in the dialogue department.
