My dad rode for over 60 yrs. When he could no longer safely hold up his tourer, he switched to a Triglide and got more time with his "knees in the breeze". After he passed I started riding that trike. Because of the trike and your learn to ride videos I'm now on two wheels riding for Pops and myself.

My name is Jerry. One year ago I purchased my 2021 Tri Glide. I have been riding most of my life with my Shovel Head an FLH I built from parts with the help of a friend. That was 1980. In 1971, I bought my very first Honda I kept for about 1.5 years.I have owned two Shovels, one new 1994 E-vo Hereitage, one new 2010 Twin cam Heritage and now the trike. At 70 years of age, my legs were not as strong as they were ten years ago. My wife has always rode with me every where we go but she was getting a little nervous when I would have to fight the bike in travel or slick payment. So we both agreed it was time to get a Trike. A great move and we love it. It now has new handle bars and a state I setup. I am thinking about stage II but I really don't need it as the stock Trike has plenty of power for me. Still might go for the state II.

I bought a brand new 2018 Ultra Classic Trike after decades on two wheels because my knees were deteriorating. I was 73 years young. I also upgraded the Trike to a Stage II and since then have logged 43,000 + miles across the USA. I LOVE IT !!! After I finally had to have knee replacement surgery on both knees and after therapy and gaining confidence in my new knees I bought a 2020 FATBOY 114 for short rides. AND kept my TRIKE for the long road trips. Best of both worlds !
THANK YOU CHRIS for sticking up for TRIKE owners and THANKS Block for the test ride showing that the TRIKE is still a motorcycle. LUV the BLOCK CHANNEL !!!

Had my right knee replaced after a bad jump in the military and just recently had my left knee replaced at 51. I had bought a 883 and thought I could keep it up but there was no way I could even though I really wanted to ride again so I took it back to the Harley dealer and they put me on a Trik and it was seriously the best fit for me and I love my Trik it allows me to get back to doing something that I truly love.

I have CP and can’t balance a bike or even myself and I’ve been wanting to ride since I’ve been small. Watching my uncle ride and then my step father ride I’ve always wanted to learn. Everything about a Harley has had me intrigued since I was 8 years old. I’m now 31 and it’s still the same joy of seeing/hearing a motorcycle to this day.

It certainly is. I do, however, kind of regret that the prevailing attitude is that you "need a reason" to ride a trike. Admittedly, I bought one because of physical factors but I've discovered that if you want to carry a lot of gear and/or a passenger, nothing else comes close. For a long haul it's orders of magnitude less tiring than a two-wheeler.

I've always felt pretty much the same about trikes... when you NEED an option to KEEP riding, or even to ride in the first place, trikes offer the opportunity. I used to know a biker... real hardcore, a true 1%'er... who was on the verge of having to give up riding because of serious back issues. Doc told him another year on the bike would put him in a wheelchair. A triked Goldwing stretched his riding time by ten years.

I was born with a physical disability, birth defect affecting my lower body only. After 10 major surgeries at Schriner's Hospital: ankles, knees, and hips. And 1000's of hours of PT learning to walk 11 times. I walk with a cane. I drive using hand controls, automatic transmission is a must have. Upper body strength and power way above average! My friends will tell you that is a major understatement. You ask who would ride a trike? I'm the answer to that question. Everything has to be done using my hands. Shifting and braking with my would a problem. Now does that give you a clear picture! I enjoyed your video, thank you! Peace brother.

Been thinking about a trike just because my kids always want to go for rides and our youngest who loves the motorcycle has autism. He stims a little too much to be comfortable on 2 wheels, but a trike would change that unexpected movement and weight redistribution greatly. Thanks for doing the review.

If you plan to carry passengers, the Tri Glide is the bomb! The passenger doesn't need to know anything about riding a motorcycle and it's almost impossible to fall out of the back seat. I've been told that the passenger seat is super comfortable but I've never ridden there.

Started riding last summer at the request of my wife who told me on Father's Day 2020 "Go buy a Harley Davidson." I jumped on that and spent last summer watching tons of videos (Thx Blockhead, and others), taking BRC, and putting miles in. By the end of the riding season, I was feeling good on two wheels, but the four-wheeled folks seem to never be paying attention. So many times defensive riding saved me from the boneheads out on the roads. My wife was on me to put her on the back, as was our teenager. I just didn't feel confident enough for their safety. So, we bought a 2021 Triglide this Father's Day, and it is so much fun to ride. It is much more comfortable, has greater visibility, and the stability is obviously fantastic. The steering and the breaking obviously can't compete with my Fat Boy, but it is a good trade-off. No regrets.

I cannot physically handle the weight of my Superglide Custom with the wife on the back anymore when having to maneuver it when parking and such. Going to either have to go to a trike or give it up after this year. Being on a fixed income it will be hard to come up with the money as the trikes are very expensive for sure but i am going to try.

After 40 years on 2's, I traded in my 2016 Road Glide Ultra and got a used 2019 Tri Glide. I did a State 2 on it and dyno'd it up to 103HP and 130TQ. I'm in a diamond club and can easily keep up with my club brothers the vast majority of the time. I even sometimes ride side by side with them (but I'm sure it isn't fun for them, but you can do a 1 and 3 slot once you get good). When I first got it it felt like the thing would tip over in a turn, but after awhile, you learn it's like a go cart ... you can whip that thing around turns like nothing. I will say, however, that unlike a regular bike, it takes a LOT more upper body strength than a 2-wheel bike because you can't lean into turns. Also, do yourself a favor and the a trike lift kit from Legend or DK customs, that 1.5" lift makes ALL the difference in handling as it puts more weight on the front wheel, so it handles so much better. With my Stage 2 (Jim's USA 819 cam ... get a cam with low end torque as this is a 1200 pound bike and you want to get it moving fast, S&S throttle body, and Tab mufflers and a SE wedge air intake and tune, I can easily lay rubber or pop a wheelie. Not for everyone, but as a man with bad knees, I can keep them in the breeze and don't have to retire from my club.

Hey Block.. I've been riding since 1970s and I can't never get enough wind therapy. I've own a few rides in my time from a, 1974 Yamaha 250 YZA, 74' Honda 250 Elsinore dirt toys. Then moved on to street toys with a 78 Honda CB550 K. Then I started hanging with the heavy crowd and started riding a 1985 HD Chopped Sportster, then I was in an accident and had a hard time on Chopped bikes so I went back to regular ride style bike on a 2004 HD Fatboy FLSTFI ..
But, after ten years my ankle, knee and hip was giving me quick response problems, stopping at lights and getting them down fast enough to balance or hold me up.
    Sort of like Biden..
Anyway, I figured if my wife and I were going to continue riding without falling, we were getting a Tri•Glide. That's a long story of why someone rides Trikes.
Y'all have a good day and Thanks for listening to my story..

The first Harley trikes I ever saw were modified Servicars ridden by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in the 1970s. I thought they were cool then and I've never changed my mind. I went with a Tri Glide because I wanted the extra cargo capacity (and I do actually use it) but I prefer the visual aesthetic of the Freewheeler. It really does have the vibe of a modernized Servicar.

I just think that a trike would be good cold weather riding & rain riding.as a full time rider I can see many benefits of a trike.maybe switching back & forth between a trike & a bike.

I think trikes are cool, also for passenger options, since people might be scared being in the back of a 2 wheeled motorcycle. And for sure great for people who have injuries or just not comfortable on 2 wheels.

As someone who has ridden just about everything with 3 wheels, I've noticed a misconception that a trike is an inferior riding experience to a 2 wheel motorcycle, but at least you're still out in the breeze. Sorry, but that's just not so! A trike is a different type of motorcycle that requires a different skill set to ride well. Once that skill set is mastered, you'll surprise more than a few people on a group ride on just how well you can keep up. A trike is neither inferior nor superior to a 2 wheel motorcycle, just different.

Blockhead this is an off topic question to the video but I wanted to ask what you felt some basic maintenance tasks for motorcycles are? What do you think people should know how to do before taking the bike into a shop?

Tell us all about it's sub- standard suspension bounce and jostle. If your too old to hold up a two wheeler the chances are your back is also too old to handle the trike's blingy bounce, particularly on most of our Australian sub- standard roads.

    • @itsapittie
      @itsapittie 2 роки тому

I haven't really experienced a lot of "bounce and jostle" but I almost never ride it off pavement. The suspension doesn't feel any worse to me than other Harleys but as always your experience may vary.

I can't ride with my wife any longer, due to balance disabilities she has, from several strokes. Would love to have her back on the road with me. A trike would make a world of difference, bringing a sense of normalcy back into our lives.

I could see a trike in my future when I'm not able to ride two wheels, but it's not right for me at this stage in life. Since you briefly talked about the TC and the M8 in the video, I'd love your (and subscribers) take. Performance is great and all, but, when I get back on two wheels later in the year, I'm looking for longevity. Would the later TC's (96/103/110CU) or the M8 be more likely to get to 200k miles with normal maintenance? I know most would probably say 'get a honda', but I'd rather do 200k on a HD (even if it does cost more to get there). Enjoyed the video!
