  • There are hundreds of different fuel additives on the market, all claiming to boost your performance and economy - but do any of them actually work. Well we grabed some Cataclean and run tests on five different Land Rovers. A Range Rover Sport, Discovery 3, Discovery 2, Discovery 1 and a Range Rover. Hear the verdict from the owners themselves and you might be surprised at what they had to say.

I had cat bank 1 operating below threshold on my RR Sport L320. I run this once every 3 months, and the light no longer comes on. MPG when the light came on was about 16.5 city/rural. My average is about 18.6 since I started using this product. Every claim made in this video I've experienced too.

I wapped a bottle in my 2.4 defender while the engine was already warmed up and did a 30 minute drive home, didn't really get chance to see if there was an improvement the next time i was driving with it been about 15⁰ colder and about 90mph wind lol but since then i think its helped, sounds a little less tractor lol

I used the version for petrol engines in my 17 yr old Hyundai that failed the emissions on its mot.. It then passed on retest. Have used it now for the last three years about a month before the test is due. Same testing station by the way.

My CAT is not clogged yet after 140K miles. I just tried it 3 days ago for maintenance to prevent CAT carbon clogging. My gas mileage in the 2.0 liter Subaru went from 33 to 38 MPG. I still need to manually calculate the actual miles I went divided by the gallons added to see if it's the actual MPG is the same as compared to the cars' digital MPG.

I understand and would expect vehicles to run better with this stuff in the tank as with any additional refined fuel, the question is do the improvements remain once it's used up and a tank of normal fuel is being run through? It would still be interesting to see what it would do to my old 200tdi Disco, which has no cat, DPF, sensors or anything. It is smokey due to tuning and a heavy roll cage, so improvements might still be noticeable.

I'm confident you'd see continued improvement as it will have cleaned everything on the first dose. Deposits may build up again over time which is why they recommend using 3 or 4 times a year.

Try Dipetane. Also good. I use it on my 235k miles 2006 CRV i-cdti. Absolutely flies NCT (MOT). I mean like a new engine.
Cataclean sounds different and better perhaps due to gas aspect.

Would have been interesting to see emissions results before and after rather than the classic bum dyno

I thought you preferred Forte? Which is better, in your opinion?

I think this is a better all in one solution for regular use. But I really rate the Forte turbo cleaner and injector cleaner. Plus the oil fortifier is ace.

It could still be snake oil. 60 litres of standard fuel about £91.80, 60 litres of BP Ultimate £102.00, the difference £10.20 a tank. Cataclean's around £16 - £18 depending where you buy it. How often do you have to use it? May be better and just run with the better fuel.

You only need it once every 3 months so works out cheaper.

Is this an every tankfull product, if not are the reviewers comments from a few tankfulls of diesel after to allow dilution of the product and basically just running on straight diesel. I use 2-EHN which gives a cetane increase to super diesel values - changing the burn characteristics - hence lower noise and reduced consumption (greater MPG) in my experience. 60cc added to evry 40 litres of diesel.

No every tank. Every 3 months.

Tried this with no measurable improvement in mpg or emissions. In fact the only difference was a lighter wallet😢 Yep, that was definitely clean.

Put cataclean in my Mini Cooper 1.5 petrol. Within a hundred miles engine management light came on . DTC “ catalyser below efficiency” was fine before I used it!

Well you can tell who sponsored this video.😂😂 cataclean does work on clogged cats but it definitely doesn't make your engine less noisy.😂😂

Is this a paid promotion? By that, I mean did you receive payment to review this product as its unclear.

No, as I said we just tried the stuff to see what it was like. Definitely not a paid promotion. I'd have to say so otherwise.

He did say at the end that he was happy to take the product on board and was allowed to say what he wanted , by that I mean it’s a little confusing 🫤

Cataclean works. We use it on all our vehicles. One treatment every 3 months, far outweighs the cost of premium fuel. In fact, if you do some fag packet calculations, If you get 5% improvement on MPG doing average annual mileage, it actually pays for itself, it's free! We have no issues with the dreaded DPF, or emissions at MOT time.

If you're already getting your rated fuel efficiency why would you think it would make it better lol

These results are entirely subjective. A code P0432 is NOT subjective. Why are you comparing apples and oranges?
