John Dyer I was born 2 years before Dallas ended and got into the show when it was on “SoapNet” back in 2003/2004 and brought season 1-4 on DVD. This show really does hold up the test of time.

Me neither. Watching Dallas growing up taught me a lot about life. Sure it is exaggerated and embellished, but the issues dealt with on Dallas are some that each of us can relate to.
A lesson I learned from JR, as he was notorious with doing this: Stock proxies . . . in that I will never authorize someone to be my proxy when it comes to representing me with corporate stock matters . . . as I'd be clueless with what nefarious actions the proxy holder would do with my voting shares.
This is when we had the real J.R. Later on in the series they ruined the character and made him look buffoonish. The series really jumped the shark after the "Dream Season."
Saxon C: None the less, JR and Alexis would have been fun to watch. First JR would have bedded her, then eventually they would have become at enemies after he did her dirty. She'd get revenge, but eventually JR would find a way to blackmail her and run her out of town.

Cliff was far from good. He started out as a public employee who used and abused his position to witch hunt the Ewings and Ewing Oil because of a bunch of garbage his daddy told him that turned out to be nothing but bullcrap. Along the way he had an affair with a married woman who happened to be the wife of the focus of all his resentment and revenge for no better reason than to try and hurt his sworn enemies. He was handed the leadership of Wentworth T&D by his long lost mother (who btw completely ignored the birthright of the daughter she raised) and he promptly embezzled $4 million dollars from the company. The only reason he even had that piece of Ewing Oil property to replace that money was because he colluded with the corrupt Vaughn Leeland and others to take advantage of JR during a messy custody battle he was having with Sue Ellen. JR was dirty, JR was cruel, to say that JR was corrupt weakens the word, and JR was nasty but to claim that Cliff was good is completely laughable. And JR was not completely evil either, he did exhibit the capacity to show genuine love and affection for his parents and for his son and even in his own twisted way for Sue Ellen. He was by no means an ideal husband or man but then Sue Ellen was anything but an ideal wife and mother and Barns was just vile. I never thought much of Cliff but after he treated Afton like complete dirt when she was there for him no matter what I couldn't stand him. I'm glad that the new series for all it's flaws finally corrected the biggest flaw from the end of Dallas. Having JR lose Ewing Oil to Cliff Barnes was about the dumbest things I've ever seen written into a TV show. The writing in the early years of DALLAS was spectacular. They had great writers, like Connie Marchetta. Really wove stories together very well.
