Just occurred to me : didn't the actor who played Wendell also play Cpt. John Merrick in an episode of Star Trek the Original Series. The one where the Roman Empire existed on a parallel Earth circa 20th century ?
@Thomas Gary . . . Actor William Smithers had a small part in the movie "Papillon," starring Steve McQueen, where he played the part of a brutally sadistic prison warden; where he played the part very convincingly.

He would NEVER just waltz into a conference room and admit he was behind all of this. I doubt he would EVER hire killers or take physical action against anyone like this, either. His character would have been too smart for that. I knew the scene was BS the first time I saw it. 👎👎👎👎
I agree but I think what it was was that they had do something. William Smithers contract was not renewed so they had to find a way to get rid of him and the only way was to show the his greed was out of control. you know , i was thingking the same as u , but aboute the start of the scene
when wendell was talking to McKay buying the sections of the ewings.
George Kennedy has always been one of my favorite actors. He has this presence about him. A wonderful talent. May he RIP.🎉
Jeremy Wendell was written out at this time. William Smithers wanted more money but the producers said no so he left.
Yeah!! Bloody hell/No need
In the end, William Smithers won. ... The writers made themselves look DUMB here! ... Of all the moments in he Dallas plot, this is the most poorly written scene. ... The super-intelligent supervillain Jeremy Wendell would never, ever public admit to all these crimes in front of so many people like this!
@@michaelzoran, Billy-boy won nothing. His career went nowhere after this. More money? No way. Too many actors are always available to step in...
@@valuecalc Perhaps a better way of saying it would be to say that in the end the staff of Dallas, the fans of Dallas, and the overall Dallas TV show "lost" when the producers would not pay William Smithers more and allowed him to leave the show. I remember when I was younger saying, "Jeremy Wendell would NEVER be admitting to all of those crimes like this in front of everyone!!!!"
@@michaelzoran, Jer did blab on too long, and you are right. It made no sense to just admit to all that craziness. A singing bird is usually bashed on the beak.
Real G stuff should have had Bobby and JR ride together more often
Wendell I told you if my brother didn't get you, I would.....It looks like we both did
But seriously, what kind of cold business machine confesses to mutiple crimes in front of a dozen powerful members of the community/business elite ....AND THEIR LAWYER.
It's like the old Perry Mason episodes: "Yes, I killed him! And I'm glad I did...."
Yes, it's just not believable. But they had to write out Wendell because the actor asked for a raise.
McKay heavily foreshadowed at the beginning of the clip
I wish Suellen had taken Wendell up on his offer of romance/marriage. It would have humanized him a little. None of her other men could ever stand up to JR.
L B Other than Nicholas Pierce
I am seeing this clip of DALLAS and realizing that honesty is the best policy. To bad for Jeremy Wendell because all that he wanted was to make sure that he gets Ewing Oil no matter what.
Eventually he got busted by the Dallas Police Department official.

Always wish they had done a backstory on Jeremy. Why he was so evil and his hatred for the Ewings. Did he know Jock ? Did they have a deal that caused all the friction ?
William would have stayed on the show longer. But the show would not give him the amount of money he asked for..XD
4.29 Detective reading the accused his rights from piece of paper - you think they would know them by now lol
Where is Leslie Nielsen?
Shirley they had planned to put him in a scene
This was a great episode. Wendell was spurned by Sue-Ellen after he proposed to her and then McKay joined the Ewings to set the ultimate trap in getting back at him. For helping to try and destroy Jock's company!
The music alone was very fitting for this scene. 😂
Hard to believe that JRs greatest nemesis was written off the show. He made the show interesting among all the recycled story lines
Smithers was a strong actor; he should have been in more episodes. I liked Dennis Patrick as "Vaughn Leland" also.
The smile on J.R ,, looks he is rejoicing the scene .🤠
Wonderful to see William Smithers and the late, great George Kennedy...both excellent actors! :)
Love that George Kennedy came back for the reboot. He was the real deal. They don’t make them like that any more
Just occurred to me : didn't the actor who played Wendell also play Cpt. John Merrick in an episode of Star Trek the Original Series. The one where the Roman Empire existed on a parallel Earth circa 20th century ?
yes
Yes he did I just seen that episode the other day
What's the charge that Jeremy Wendell facing if the police have a warrant for his arrest?
Out of all the characters on Dallas there was just something about J.Wendell that struck me as being capable of being a cold blooded killer.
Actor William Smithers made it an acting career with playing variations of the Jeremy Wendell character in countless TV and movie roles.
And an international criminal
@Thomas Gary . . . Actor William Smithers had a small part in the movie "Papillon," starring Steve McQueen, where he played the part of a brutally sadistic prison warden; where he played the part very convincingly.
The best part was, at 4:15, when the Dallas Police Department official decides to arrest Mr. Jeremy Wendell. That scene made the both of us to laugh.
No rude comments or remarks.

They made it so obvious he was being recorded
Messing with that Ewing clan, end up handcuffed
and thrown over 16-story tower with no parachute.
Was the office bugged when Wendell admitted his guilt?
Ewing family plus Dallas Police Department: 1
Jeremy Wendell: 0
Plus Jeremy Wendell goes to jail.
Please think positive at all times.©®

I liked it when Bobby and JR worked together like this
Like my daddy said. “ it ain’t no fun when the rabbits got the gun “.
Jeremy Wendell, Owner of Weststar, Actor William Smithers, age 93, still going strong. He was a more formidable opponent than Cliff Barnes was.
3:17 3:28 Such a fake scene. Wendell was probably the smartest, most powerful and least understood character in the series.
But usually people who are like that wouldn't be like that in real life I do agree with that I think it's just a matter of the fact that his contract was up and they didn't know what to do
Pride goeth before the fall. Wendell did like most powerful and arrogant people go. He thought he was untouchable. And cocky arrogance made him discover stupid.
I cannot recall exactly what George Kennedy's role was....can someone educate me a little?
Thanks.
Great scenes !
He got his true comeuppance.
dallas was the show
